January 1st/08

well...Kalob Jonathon-Eric was born on Dec 26th/07. He weighed 9 pounds 5.5 ounces and 21 1/4 in length....here's the story...

christmas day night...felt completely fine, was thinking that i wouldn't have this baby til new years or even later!!! I ate a whole lot of turkey and gravy that night and felt ridiculously full!!! we went home and i put my son to bed and woke up at midnight and went to my own bed. then at 2:41 I woke up with horrible back pain and tried to sleep it off but it was getting worse about every 5 minutes. so i wrote everything down...started timing things, but ofcourse again, contractions were all in my back, major back labor!!! they started to be about 3-4 minutes apart within the hour. I felt as though i had to take a big poop...so i tried, i just assumed it was cause i ate so much that night.....so needless to say, i felt extremely constipated and was trying to push...lol...big mistake!!!

i was in extruciating pain and it was getting worse. at 530 am i called my mom and told her what was going on...i said i was going to have a shower and see how that made me felt. didn't help! at 7 am i was screaming in pain and told my hubby to get up and start the truck NOW!!! my parents came over right away...my dad stayed with my 3 year old and my mom, hubby and i quickly got to the hospital by about 7:30am.

as soon as i got there they admitted me and checked me and i was already 7-8 cm!!! no wonder i was in pain. from there they moved me to my birthing room where i got my epidural. the anesthesiologist was awesome...and hiliarious. he definately took my mind off of things and it didn't even hurt, just a deep burning sensation...but not nearly as bad as the contractions were. although they said the edge would be gone with the epidural it took almost an hour before it felt any better. then i started to feel a trickle and i had some show. then my waters were slowly breaking. the doctor decided to check me and i was 9 cm by 9:30 am. he then decided to break my waters...that was when the pain really started.

while he was doing it...i felt the whole thing!!! i was in tears but trying to keep my composure. the doc had to come back and give me many more drugs to get me comfortable...the pain was so bad in my back i honestly don't know how i got through it. they decided to let me rest for a while after the drugs kicked in (cause there was an emergency baby being delivered...she was like 20 some weeks prego and her baby was coming out in the hallway). so by noon they decided to check me again and i was ofcourse 10 cm!!! the nurse asked my friend, hubby and mom to leave the room while they checked me. while he was checking me...he told me to give one little push just to see if we could move baby. well....with my one push, they could already see his head! they told me to stop pushing now! they also discovered that the baby was in the op position (face up) which was causing all of my back labor!!! and the nurse said i was likely to be in for a long hard delivery! so they paged my doc, and a bunch of people came running into the room ...kind of frieked me out. they threw my feet up on slings and took the base of my bed off....i was totally frieked out by this point, they all seemed to be worried. my family got back in and positioned themselves beside me and the doc said give me one more push i'm going to try and turn the baby...well i pushed and baby came out!!! 2 pushes!!!!! wow....

needless to say i was in complete shock at how fast it went considering my labor with my first son was 30 hours and over an hour of pushing. this baby was 8.5 hours of labor and only seconds of pushing!!! he scored 9 and 9 on the apgar tests. he was a big healthy boy. and oh my goodness...cute! i will be posting pics this week.

as for me, i had second degree stitches. and as soon as the epidural wore off, i was up and walking. no one would have ever guessed that i just pushed out a 9 and a half pounder...not even me! i was a little stiff and sore the first night and then i came home the next day. i have stopped bleeding already, my stitches are coming out and i have been out and about and have gone for a few walks already! i feel great. after baby was born he was not taking very well to the formula so i decided to give breast feeding a try once again...well this time, it worked. i have been breast feeding and taking a prescription to help my milk come in. so he gets that and formula and is a very happy little baby. now we're just waiting to hear when he gets circumsized...he will not be happy and neither will i. i don't want to do it, but his dad and brother are and it's just a choice that has been made. i just really don't like that they do it so late...why not before they leave the hospital? but i will keep everyone posted on how things go. congrats and good luck to all the new moms:)

November 6/07

well my shower came and went and it was great. i got a lot of nice things from everyone, and everything we needed except one item and my sister informed me she's buying it for me:) so that makes me happy! i came from the doc today and i have high blood pressure which i am now being treated for with meds! which i soooo did not want to take, but i will do what i have to do to continue with a healthy pregnancy! i have been almost passing out this past week with dizziness, and i've been getting heart palpetations again. i have had them since i was young, but lately they have been so bad, my heart is practically popping outta my chest and i almost get sick and pass out and last night i started sweating realy bad and they lasted over an hour. she said the two together can be a very bad combination in pregnancy. so if it happens again, i need to get in right away! scary stuff. it has been a breeze this pregnancy, not including the back injury, so this kind of threw me for a loop today! but she said that my due dates are rather confusing because of what happened in the beginning. so we are keeping it relatively the same as it originally was...which is fine with me...new years sounds great!!!

It's a BOY! the ultrasound went well today. we did find out that he is big though. 4 pounds already. our date is dec 19th, which is around the same time i should be due according to my lmp. the only reason the one doc said that dec 31st was my due date was because of the first u/s. But i knew when my lmp was, so that didn't make much sense to my doc today. she said going by the size of him and my lmp we'll go with dec 19 as my due date. so that puts me to 31 weeks instead of 29, which is scary cause now it seems so soon before baby comes:) soooo much to do! the pics we got are a little hard to see only because at this stage he is breach and his back was facing up. his head and tummy are measuring at 33 weeks and his legs at 31. but the legs are one of the last things to grow...if he's anything like me, he'll have very long legs. but if he's like his dad his legs will be short ;) but he's healthy. that's all that matters, the rest we can deal with when the time comes. i have gained about 43 pounds so far. sucks, but it's not as bad as with my first son.

October 15th, 2007

So things seem to be going pretty good thus far. baby kicks me all night when i am trying to sleep:( but its active and healthy! i have an ultrasound this coming wednesday, just too excited to find out the gender and be sure everything is going well with baby. We have still not got anything done in the nursery because we have not been able to get a carpenter to put in the new hardwoods. this city is booming with commercial and residential developement and there is no one wanting to do small jobs like this...so far 3 have backed out. so this coming weekend, we are planning on doing it ourselves! My parents are going to watch our 3 year old and maybe even help us do part of the floors. Hopefully my hubby does not lose his patience too quickly, it is going to take a couple of days! Then watch out...the room will be finished in one week from now!!! well it better be! i have washed all the babys clothes and hung them or put them all in the dresser. My poor son has had all this baby stuff in his room while we have waited to have the floors done! cannot wait to get back to normal! but overall, things seem okay. my only real complaints so far are back aches...my lower left side is awful again, partly because of my work injury. Peeing at all hours of the day and night...sleep is limited these days. headaches, moodswings and shortness of breathe...and ofcourse the inevitable heartburn! i will keep the page updated after i find out the gender on wednesday...wish me luck:)

So I am feeling a little better these days, not so sick. But all i wanna do is sleep! I am tired from the time I wake up until the time I go to sleep! I am feeling baby move around all the time now. Am definately getting anxious to meet the baby. We painted last weekend, it's called Lemon-Thyme Green...it's an amazing colour. and today I won an auction on ebay and purchased a wonderful 10 pc crib set for baby's nursery! So we are excited to get everything done in the baby's room. We are getting the new laminate floors put in right away too, so we are holding tight on setting up the crib. Jacob is getting excited to be a big brother, although somedays he claims he doesn't want to be! Other than that, things are going good :) I'll update after my next appointment at the end of the month!

So yesterday was the big ultrasound day! Baby looks very healthy. He spent a long time looking at the brain and heart and he said all looked great:) The baby was waving at us and was sucking 'his' thumb for almost the entire 15 minute u/s. We tried to find out the gender...at first he skimmed over the area and said it could be a girl, then after baby moved, he thought he saw boy parts. it was very hard to tell becuase from the last angle the baby was in, the cord was also in the way making it hard to see if it was a boy! We are just happy that it's healthy. that's all that matters! So i go back for another regular appointment on August 29th,2007. I want to go back and get another ultrasound to find out the gender foresure, i know here in sask we have to pay for an 'unnecessary' u/s, but i don't know how much it is! oh ya, and baby's heartbeat was 143. 'he' was sleeping when we got the heartbeat measured, it was the lowest it's been yet.

As for me, I'm still having some nasty mood swings. Better than last week, but some days i still feel like i wanna snap! lol. The weird thing is, is that it's all from my fiance. i'm not sure why he's the one bugging me so much. who knows, i guess i'll only find out if it's hormones after baby comes out...

July 10/07

I am now in wk 15...and feeling worse than last week. not sure why! i am exhausted again, and now i am constantly feeling sick. i have been cramping a lot lately, but i can tell it's just from stretching. i am off work still, not sure when i'll be going back. my back kills me most days from my injury and the pressure of my growing uterus is not helping right now.

We are getting really excited for baby now. I feel it move every morning, when my stomache is like a rock and baby is pushed right up to my bellybutton! I went for my 14 wk appointment last week and all is well, another strong heartbeat...153 bpm...last appointment at 10 wks bpm were 160. i have a gut feeling this baby is a girl because my pregnancy is so different from my last with my son! I have my 18 wk appointment on aug 3/07, i get an ultrasound in to see the doc right after that! I am definately going to find out the gender ...hopefully it will be possible to see that day!
