My cousin thought she had wet herself but actually her waters had broken. I would get checked just to be on the safe side because you are highly prone to infection once your waters have broken. She needed to be induced 2 days later as she didn't get any contractions. Good luck.

I have those pains as well, I think its just the baby getting lower and lower, cause right afterwards, if I walk, I have to spred my legs out even more, he is pushing my hips apart.

They are right when they tell you you'll just know. Because when you get that first contraction, it will rock your world, and not in a good way! We're talking pain so bad you will hit the floor when they come on and the pain comes in waves like a really bad stomachache. You will be able to tell when you're about to get a contraction. IT HURTS BAD! I'm only being honest! Trust me, there is no mistaking when your body says, It's time! Another thing that may happen is you might feel the urge to suddenly do number 2 right away. And pretty much that's your body clearning the passages for the baby to come through. You're getting close, so be on the lookout for a glob of mucous to come out and for you to eventually start slowing down as far as energy. You'll feel like you can barely put one foot in front of the other. Those are some signs that you're getting ready to go. And don't count on your water breaking, because mine never did with my first. They broke it for me at the hospital.

Yeah I spoke to a midwife and told her that I wanted to try out the birthing pool, plus I went on babycenter and made up a birthing plan....hopefully they check me next week and see how much she weighs...what about you???

I just read ur comment. My midwifes are exactly the same! The listen to heartbeat then occationally mneasure (not always), ask if everythings ok then thats it! R u from the UK, coz am and here it is routine apparently, for fortnightly apps from 36 weeks, not weekly like i thought, so i will now see them next week (38 weeks) then not again until 40 weeks, but Im hoping i will of had the littleun by then!! I have never been checked 'down below' not once. And i dont think they will either, not until im actually in labour.
Hope it all goes well with you.xx

Hey! Read your comment in 37 weeks, and the did the same thing to me yesterday!! I was all excited, hoping she would tell me some good news, then all I got was a measurement, and she checked her heartbeat! I asked and she told me the exact same thing they told you. Now about not coming back til the 18th, thats crazy! Im gonna demand they do something next week though!!

Every doctor is different. I asked my midwife yesterday about how come I wasn't being checked yet and they both said they don't check unless it is after my due date. Said that one day you can be dialated up to 3 and then stay there for weeks OR they could check and you aren't dilated at all but then 2 hours later you are and you go into labor. I really wanted to know how far I was away from going into labor but I guess I would cry if they checked and said I wasn't dilated at all yet.

Yeah my hormones are wild too. I got mad at him and my poor daughter yesterday for nothing. I'm having really bad pain in my back shooting down my legs but I know it's the baby laying against a nerve. I agree though that sometimes they will just say anything to get you off their back or out of the office. It's ashame.

My doc didn't check me yesterday and I am 37 weeks also. I think every doc and midwife is different. as far as not going weekly that one I'm not sure about.
