My profile
My husband and I have found out we are pregnant. It was a huge surprise to us because so many doctors told me that I wouldn't get pregnant... ever... Last year, I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS and had surgery in August 2007 to get rid of it. The cysts and the endo grew back by December and I was back to the irregular periods and pelvic pain. My plan was to have a second surgery on July 25th. However, when my husband and I were on vacation in Maui we found out on father's day that we were pregnant. It was a very exciting time for us.
However, I am now nine weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with hyperemesis gavidarum. Which basically translates as excessive vomitting during pregnant. For 3 weeks now, I have been unable to eat or drink anything without throwing it up. I went to the ER 5 days to get rehydrated and eventually my OB had me have a nurse come and give me fluids at home. So, I have fluids in my left arm and in my right thigh i have a Zofran pump that gives me anti=nausea medication every hour. It is supposed to help me stop throwing up, but I still do and I have lost 20 lbs in these 3 weeks.
Pray for me and that this lets up soon because im miserable.
Update: 7/28/08
I just got out of a 4 day stay in the hospital. They put in a PICC line (a tube that runs under the skin from the bicep to the central vein near my heart). This PICC stays in for a month, it allows me to have constant fluids and medication without them having to poke me all the time. I am now 10 1/2 weeks along and i thought things were better after the hospital, but just today i started to throw up again and a lot... Right when you think its over, your back to square one...
