Hello Everyone!

My name is Kristy and I have a 6 month old daughter, Laney. I have been a member of this site through pretty much the whole pregnancy, but thought it was time to get rid of that old news....but if you have any questions, just ask! We have recently made the decision for me to be a stay at home Mommy. Although I will really miss teaching, the rewards of being home with my own child was an opportunity I could not pass up. Things are going really good, it's amazing how each day they learn something new. Feel free to write me anytime, thanks for checking in!

My two favorite 6 Months Pictures

My sleeping Beauty!!

Hi! Yes, Bekah's doing much better today. But she only just went to sleep for her afternoon nap and here we are at almost 5 pm. She just loves to play in her cirb now! it's hilarious to listen to her laughing and having a good time but she needs to sleep. It's not like there's a bunch of toys in there either. she just plays with the strings on her bumper pad! lol!

My niece is 7 and my nephew is 5. They're so awesome with Bekah and when she cries they do all sorts of silly things to make her smile. It's normally so much fun to go over there. I just think Bekah was having a bad day. Poor girl. she did like getting into the tub with the kids, though. Bekah was all the way in and the kids sat on the edge with just their feet. They were splashing her and she was having a ball...until the bottle of shampoo fell off the shelf and scared the crap out of her and she started crying again! Oh well... :o)

Yes, the Leap Frog tabel has been one of the best investments. Not only does Bekah LOVE it but my best friend had one for her son and he played with it until well past the age of two. And apparently my niece and nephew had one when they were babies and loved it just as much. SOOOOOO worth it! but I would check on Ebay because they usually go for so much less. Also, check Craiglist.com. I saw one for sale right here in Joplin just last week, so maybe there's one close to you, too. I think I paid $7 for mine at a yard sale and it looks brand new! YAY!

Oh, and Bekah hates her exersaucer now. I'm just going to pack it up until next summer when the new baby's reayd to use it. It just takes up so much space! We were at Target tpday and Kevin put bekah in the Rainforest Jumperoo they had on display. Well she just about went nuts with excitement! I think she's much more of a fan of bouncing! Too bad they're waaaaaaayyyyyy out of our price range...even if I were to sell the exersaucer we have.

Good for Bill to stick to the list! He's apparently doing much better then Kevin...who seems to stop for somehting yummy almost every night after work. Then he tries to blame it on me and the pregnancy! lol! Not that I can really stop myself from indulging. It's soooo bad. I need to nip this thing in the bud!

Yeah, Laney must just suck in more air when she eats of something. That's the only thing I can think of. Maybe if you try burping her after every ounce it would help.

Yes, I am much warmer while pregnant! In fact, that's almost an understatement! You should see me at church. It always seems so hot in there and I start dripping with sweat (which is so attractive in your Sunday best) and then i look around and everyone else seems comfortable! And it's so much worse when I cook. Oh...and don't even get me started about how nasty I look when I return from my daily brisk walk with Bekah!!! EEEWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!! I always have to leave her screaming and get into the shower or I feel soooo gross. I can't imagine having my third trimester in the summer. We both lucked out on that one for sure!

Sorry you didn't hear anything on Bill's job. So annoying! The job Kevin's interviewing for hasn't even been officially posted. He was alreayd approached about it, though, so that's a really good sign. We figure he can take about $1.50 paycut per hour and we'd still be doing great. So hopefully that will help him get the job. That way he wouldn't have to work 2 jobs anymore...unless we just wanted the extra money for something...like baby stuff.

I'm kind of starting to freak out about needing more baby stuff and knowing we'll have to buy it all. I mean, who's going to get us stuff when we just had a baby last year? It's not that we need much...just expensive stuff...which is the problem. We need another crib and car seat. Not to mention the fact that I'd love a double stroller so I could still go on my daily walks. I keep checking the paper and Craiglist and whenever I find something it's already gone by the time I call. It's very frustrating. And buying anything like that online saves you nothing because of the shipping costs involved. ARG!

Anyhow, Im going to stop rambling on and lay down for a bit. My friend is coing over this evening for a girl's night! YAY! I hope you have a great evening! xoxoxox Amanda

Hi! Sorry for the delay in reply. I was babysitting my niece and nephew last night and didn't get home until late. It was awful because Bekah wasn't feeling well and refused to sleep...but she was super crabby. And I had to wait until 8 for Kevin to get off work and come pick us up. Well then he gets there and don't we run out of gas on the way home! ARG! I was soooo annoyed. So we had to wait a half an hour for his brother to bring us some gas and Bekah was screaming the whole time. Poor girl just wanted some tylenol and her bed! I was soooo glad to finally get home.

I'm sorry you're still feeling like crap...and that it sounds like Laney's getting it too. I wish we could just put them in a bubble when we're sick, don't you?

Bekah only ever spits up when she's not been burped well enough or when she's been overfed. I try and burp her really well before letting her down to play but she gets really impatient sometimes. We had a hard time for the first couple months with food and how much to feed her. And over time just discovered how much was too much just by the barfies in the end. Gross, I know! So now as she's getting bigger and needing more I still use that method. Generally she may spit up once every 2 weeks or something when I try and see how much more she needs.

Hopefully Bill will be more informed about what's going on at work. I know how annoying it is to have everything up in the air like that. We're actually kind of in the same position again. A job that Kevin's been offered twice now has opened up again at FedEx. Well, the only reason we turned it down both times before is because he'd be taking a major paycut...even though the hours are more, the end result would be about the same (so stupid). But now they're saying they may be able to keep his current pay, which would be fantastic. We'd totally jump on it for sure!!! But he still has to go through the interview process and all that junk again. So annoying. It's good to know he has a lot of big players in his corner, though. His work ethic is so much greater than the people they ended up hiring and firing from that position and they're just ready to pay someone more and get the job done well. Makes perfect sense if you ask me!

Oh, and I totally get you about the dangers of sending hubby's to the grocery store. Kevin comes back with bags full of junk, so I generally make sure to go with him! lol! Silly men!

Anyhow, I'm off to pay the bills and make my grocery list. I hope your day goes well. Kisses to you and Laney and I'm sending you get well wishes! xoxoxox Amanda

Eh, don't worry about your house when you're sick, silly girl! hehehe! Laying down is the smart thing to do, right? I really hope you feel better soon.

I'm glad your friend was able to come despite you being sick. How fun that she spent the night! Before having our kids my friend and I would do all-nighters every once in a while. My hubby would go spend the night with her hubby and she'd come over here. It was so much fun. Ahh how things change.

Bekah's been snoozing for nearly 3 hours this afternoon and that's after taking 2 shorter naps this morning! So yes, she's still a sleepyhead! Hopefully this means she'll wake in as good a mood as she went down in. When we first laid her down this afternoon we could here her squealing with delight at her crib toys! It was soooooo cute. She's getting to be so good with playing quietly (sort of) in her crib for periods of time.

Isn't it funny how all of a sudden they can pull themselves up and that's all they want to do? Bekah's the same exact way now. And she hates doing anything other than that...doesn't want anything to do with her exeraucer or play gym this week. Thank God for that silly Leap Frog table or I think I'd be nuts by now! Although the crashes are so much worse, aren't they? Bekah fell this afternoon and clunked her chin on her table and cried so hard. It took a lot of snuggles to help her feel better after that one.

Ugh....I hate paying bills. I'm always the money handler and get it all over and done with on Friday mornings. It's one of the dreaded tasks so I'm happy to get it done with right away on payday. Well I hope you can afford all the doors in one weekend. That would certainly make things easier. I know how annoying it is to have to borrow a truck to get things home. We remodeled our entire house and it was sooooo annoying. Thank God for good friends with trucks, right?

Well, I hear Beak talking to herself finally so I'm going to go investigate! lol! Try and get some rest while Bill's still home! xoxoxoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Tuesday, 26 August
Well Bekah was a huge fan of her apples and cherries! I mixed it with her yogurt this afternoon. I usually give her the yogurt at lunchtime but I'm really not sure if it matters when she eats it. Oh, and I've had to mix some oats in it to make it thicker. Otherwise it's way too runny and it just gets all over the place.

So is Laney getting into the kitty food? Is that why you need to move the dish? I remember my friend's son constantly getting into our dpg food when he came over. It was gross but kind of funny at the same time!

Maybe Laney's going through a growth spurt too. I swear Bekah's been sleeping so much this week.

I'm sorry your cold has officially hit. How annoying! Was your friend still able to come by today or did you have to cancel?

Bekah's been a very happy girl today. Hopefully she'll do just as well when she gets up from her nap this afternoon. I got to sleep in this morning but was almost unable to go back to sleep because Bekah was just squealing with delight at her Leap Frog table. She's so hilarious with that thing now that she can stand up on her own.

How has Laney been today other than sleepy? In as good a mood as Bekah I hope. I bet she's happy to have her daddy home! I half wonder if that's why Bekah's been so cranky lately...she's trying to get used to having her papa gone a lot more with his new job.

Anyhow, I hope you're having a good day and that you eventually get your nap in. I feel like I could use one right now but I know Bekah will be up at anytime. Kiss Laney for me. xoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Tuesday, 26 August
Hi! All I can say is those ladies had a lot of nerve asking you to help with the hotel room! lol! Glad they backed off for you.

No, Bekah turned into a giant cranky pants not too long after I wrote you this morning. I was like NOOOOOOOO!!! She decided she was going to be super clingy and got really really mad when I went in to take a shower. The silly goose actually threw a temper tantrum...got all the way down on the floor, too! Just like a big kid! It kind of freaks me out that she's already doing things like that. I don't really know how to nip something like that in the bud, especially since she was only doing it because she wanted me! Any suggestions?

She did get better by the end of the dsy, though...after she had a 3 hour and 45 minute nap! GEEZ!! I kept thinking I should wake her but in the end just left her be and she was so much happier when she woke up. And she still went right down at her normal time. I haven't heard one peep our of her! All I can say is that she must be growing again.

I'm sorry you're getting sick. I hate that moment when you just know it's coming and there isn't a darn thing you can do to stop it from happening. It would really stink to give it to Laney like you said. I know Bekah was so miserable. I'm just glad she had hers the week before I got it.

You'll have to tell me what Laney thinks of her broccoli. Bekah's still a huge fan. And yes, I just buy the huge container of plain yogurt at Wal-Mart. It was only like $1.50 and it should last for a couple weeks I think. As long as it doesn't go bad...I need to check it daily to make sure. I just mix it in with whatever fruit she's eating at the time. I only give it to her once a day, though, since it's a milk-based food. I don't want her tummy to get upset. Oh, and the reason I don't just give her the pre-mixed stuff (aside from the cost like you mentioned) is that there just WAAAYYYYYY too much sugar in it. This way there's no added sugar which they don't need.

Oh, and I finally found some frozen cherries this week so I made a batch of apples and cherries this evening. I tasted it and it's SOOOO yummy! I want to eat it! So tomorrow we'll see what Bekah thinks. I'd find it really funny if she hated this stuff! lol!

Anywho, I'm off to get a couple things done before Kevin gets home. Love and hugs to you and Laney! xoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Monday, 25 August
Hi! I'm so glad to hear the wedding and traveling all went well. I'm sure Laney was a good little girl for her grammy! lol! Did any of the ladies chip in for that limo? That would be the icing on the cake, right?

Yes, we celebrated our anniversary yesterday. It was fantastic to have some time alone with Kevin...although it made him going back to work today much harder, ya know? We enjoyed ourselves at Olive Garden and were very pleased that our giftcard covered the whole meal plus the tip, so we went out completely for free. Always a bonus, right? Then we came home and had some adult time :o)

Bekah was super cranky yesterday, right from the time she woke up. It was like her usual Monday. So I was afraid to leave her in the nursery at church, but she did just fine. Then I was nervous to leave her with my in-laws, but again, she did just fine. Thank God because I really needed some time away from her. That sounds awful, I know. But it had been 16 days of constantly caring for her by myself and I was really tired. And we were only gone 3 hours and I was already aching to see her agin! lol! I was really hoping that since she was crabby yesterday that today would be great and so far it is! YAY!

The baby was super duper active last night. When we got back to my in-laws house we stayed for supper and the baby made it's appearance for the first time that day. Tons of pokes and wiggles! It was the best. Then last night I woke up after having a bad dream (as usual - stupid pregnancy nightmares!!!) and all of a sudden I got THE BIGGEST kick!!! I was like, Oh, there you are!!! hehehehe! This baby has been so much quieter than Bekah was...but maybe it's still too early. I don't exactly remember when the big huge kicks like that started with her. That one last night would easily have been felt on the outside!

Yes, Bekah's bottom was cleared up by the next morning. Poor girl. I guess we're skipping the berries for a while longer. At least she didn't break out in bumps all over her body like another baby girl on this site. She was SOOOO allergic it was scary! And no, I've just been buying plain yogurt and mixing it in with some of her fruit everyday. I also have to mix in some oats to thicken it because it's so runny and it drips off the spoon which just makes a huge mess. Bekah likes it very well though.

Oh, and I should tell you the huge and awesome miracle that happened at my church!!! The youth minister and his wife announced they were pregnant and of course everyone was happy and excited for them. Well, when the time came for her first appointment the husband couldn't go, so the wife went alone. When she got there the doctor discovered the worst possible thing...no heartbeat. Naturally they were devistated, as were all of us at the church. We mourned and prayed for them to have comfort and peace with the situation. Well, the wife was scheduled for a D&C last week but the husband really wanted to see his baby one time to say goodbye so they asked for another sono before the procedure. And PRAISE GOD...THERE WAS A STRONG AND STEADY HEARTBEAT!!!!!!! Can you believe it? I've never heard of that happening before. But of course everyone was so happy and excited for them again (and of course I was blubbering like a baby). I just can't stop thinking about how awesome that would be. That sure is a special baby. It makes me wonder what kind of plans God has for it's future...

Well, nothing can top that news, so I'm going to stop now and go eat some breakfast...see if I can't wake the baby up and get a few more pokes! Hugs and kisses to you and Laney and I'm so glad to have you home for a while! xoxoxoxoxoxox Amanda

I'll pray all goes well for your wedding! Have fun and drive safe!!!

Rebekahs-mama - Friday, 22 August
Yes, I continue to marvel at how many tiny changes Bekah makes throughout the week. I'm so thankful for getting to be here to see them!

Aunty duty went great today. Their kids are so incredibly well-behaved that it's like a piece of cake to watch them. Plus they absolutely love their little cousin...and she loves them to death, too. The only thing that's hard is it totally cuts Bekah's nap time in half so she crashed at 6:30, well before we were able to get her to bed. Poor girl. I'm going to have to figure something out since we're committed to this all school year.

I haven't tried watermelon with Bekah yet. I bet she'd like it, too. Oh, and nix on the strawberries...Bekah's bottom broke out SOOOOOO bad today that she screamed when I was trying to wipe her clean. Poor little sweetheart. It's the only thing I can think of that would make her get such a bad rash. Oh well...my book actually suggests leaving berries until after their a year anyway.

That is the best news on your in-laws! So I guess Laney's going to your mom's afterall, huh? It will be so much better because then you'll feel comfortable and will be able to enjoy yourself!

Well, I'm going to watch a little TV and settle down for the evening. Hugs and kisses to you and Laney! xoxoxoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Thursday, 21 August
Oh I know! There are so many women I know who relish having the house to themselves and I'm always thinking, why in the world would you want to be alone? Maybe I'm too needy, but I seriously hate it for long periods of time! But I guess a lot of women don't have as fantastic of husbands as we do!!!

Yeah I bet that new food will look revolting. But I'm hoping it will just taste like mashed up soup or something.

It's got to be SOOOOO nice that Laney puts herself back to sleep that "late" in the morning. Bekah's such an early bird that if she "sleeps in" to 7 I almost get worried! lol! I swear she has a built in alarm clock for 6:30, though. I no sooner wake and look at the clock and then I hear her start to fuss. But she is geting better about playing in her crib for a while before getting mad. And I can totally relate to leaving her for a bit and trying to get a few more minutes of sleep. But my, you got a bonus with 2 solid hours!!!

Oh, and I was laughing so hard a few minutes ago because Bekah's been playing on the floor for a while and I looked down to find her waving her capris in the air! Apparently she wiggled out of them and decided they made a good toy! lol! Of course I had to snap a few pictures! hehehe! Such a goofball!

OK well, I need to go make some lunch. I'm on Aunty duty every Thursday starting today so I need to get everything done before I pick up my niece and nephew from school. I hope your day is going well so far! xoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Thursday, 21 August
It's got to be so much harder being alone all night. While I'm sure you're used to it by now, it must really stink! I apologize for my complaining because I know your hubby's gone so much longer than mine. At least Kevin gets to come home every night!

Honestly, I think Bekah is content. She's figured out how to get around the room just by falling over, rolling a bit, then sitting back up. It's hilarious to watch and she does it all day long! And last night she was getting so frustrated because she rolled over to the couch and wanted to pull herself up but there wasn't anything to grab ahold of. She just kept grabbing at the cushion and trying so hard to get her little butt off the floor with no success. And then she finally started crying because she was so upset at her defeat! It was so cute but it made me a little sad to see her trying so hard to be a big girl. She's still supposed to be small!!!

And how adorable that Laney pulled herself up on her own! I can just see the triumphant look on her face! lol! I know how Bekah looks when she's been successful at something. It's hilarious how they get so excited that two seconds later they're on the floor again because they've gone overboard with celebrating! hehehehehe!

I'm glad Laney's tooth pain seems so much better. It was that way with Bekah for the most part. But Laney's lucky to have had both teeth pop at the same time. Bekah's was drawn out for a couple weeks because only one came at a time.

The only thing I mix with any of her veggies is rice cereal. I mix oats in with her fruits. She took to the broccoli right away and I've never had a problem. Probably the only thing she's ever showed any sort of pickiness with is avocado. There are days when she's just not in the mood for it. What veggies have you made? The mix sounds great! I have made broccoli, peas, green beans, avocado, sweet potato, carrots, and occasionally cook her some whole corn. I'm still planning to introduce squash and white potatoes sometime soon. I think I'm going to cook her up some mixed veggies with noodles and meat, then blend it all together and freeze...maybe this weekend when Kevin is working. She's so close to the 8 month mark that I'm sure she could try the meat next week. It will be interesting...

We do have a sitter on Sunday! YAY!!! We also have a gift card to Olive Garden so we're planning on using that. Then come back to the house for some quality alone time...which I feel like we lack most of the time! lol! We're just going out for the afternoon and then going back to Kevin's brother's house where Bekah will be and having supper with them. It should hopefully work out very well...as long as Bekah takes her naps like a good girl. She's usually so exhausted after church that it doesn't seem to be a problem getting her down at their house!

It's nice that Bill gets to pocket the rest of the food money. I bet that can be a nice little bonus! I know when my mom used to travel for her job they would do the same thing. It always amazed her how much the company expected her to spend on food in one day! She was like, I can easily spread this out over 2 or even 3 days!

Well, I'm going to get something to eat for breakfast. My little goofball is happily playing with her Leapfrog table so now's the time to do it! lol! I hope your day goes well! Give laney love from her fake Aunty! hehehe! xoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Thursday, 21 August
I'm glad I'm not just crazy! lol! My belly really seemed a lot bigger then two weeks ago! I can't wait until it's moving around! I remember Kevin would watch Bekah moving and he'd ask me if I was doing it or if it was her. I was always like...umm...how in the world would I be able to do that? hehehehe! Such a nut!

I didn't try the noodles today. Actually I forgot and got to doing other things. Maybe tomorrow. I'm sure I can just make them up like when we eat them. Bekah eats her bread and pancakes and toast without any problems so I'm sure gumming noodles would be a piece of cake! Mmmmmmm...cake sounds good right now!

Thanks for not being grossed out by my bathroom info. Kevin usually helps me but since he's been working so much I haven't had the heart to ask him. But I got through it so YAY! Glad to be done for a while.

Good idea to send it through FedEx! Way to support my hubby's job! lol! With the signature then you'll have proof they received it. So smart!

Figures Bill would get called away almost at the day's end! And a jacuzzi suite!!! WOW that sounds fantastic right now. I can see why you're jealous. Too bad you can't fly with him sometimes! Does his company pay for the hotel stays?

My day was rather boring. The weather was poor today so Kevin couldn't go work his second job, which I was actually excited about. Not only did I need a mommy break, I also needed hubby time! I've been terribly lonely the last few days and look forward to Sunday when we finally go out to celebrate our anniversary. I so thought Bekah was finally going to crawl today, though. Will she ever do it??? lol! Watch, she'll do it on Sunday while we're out and she's at my SIL's for the day!

You better keep your hands out of Laney's mouth now! hehehe! It really hurts when they bite with their little needle teeth! Give it two weeks and they should be long enough to clearly see...so much fun! Is she still doing ok with the pain?

Yeah I got really lucky and didn't end up having to give a toast at the wedding. I don't know how I weasled out of that one but I certainly didn't complain!

Well, I think I'm going to change my page this evening. Not only am I bored, I'm also tired of looking at the same thing. And it's about time to update my info anyway. I hope you have a great evening! Hugs and kisses!!! xoxoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Wednesday, 20 August
So I posted a new belly pic in my blog today and AHHHHH it looks so huge to me for the first time! lol! I finally feel like the camera isn't lying about how big I feel. It seemed like every other week I would take the picture and it looked so small as compared to what I see when I look down in between "the girls"! lol!

Rebekahs-mama - Wednesday, 20 August
Hi! Yeah it should be the top two teeth next. Then I think it's the eye teeth and then none for quite some time. Thank God! And the molars come in very very slowly. My friend's son is 3 and only just growing another molar! It doesn't seem to bother him in the least, which is good.

Yeah I'm really excited about the possibility on the crib. I e-mailed the lady and am just waiting for her reply. It is nice that we won't have to buy nearly as much, although since we're having the kiddos so close together we have to get another carseat and highchair as well as the crib. Oh, and we love the idea of a double stroller but it may be out of our price range at the moment. I keep checking the paper just in case...

It's sad when they don't want to use things anymore, isn't it? Makes me happy I bought almost everything used! Since they only use it for a short period of time anyway. I washed and put Bekah's bouncer away a couple months ago and her swing has been in storage since she was like 4 months. She never really was a big fan of it in the first place. I guess the most annoying thing to have hanging around is the exersaucer. We bought a cheapie so it doesn't fold or anything and Bekah doesn't really want to be in it for much longer than 5 minutes or so. It's weird because she's always been so much happier on the playmat than anywhere else. And all the other things look like so much fun. Oh well! Maybe the next baby will like them better. Otherwise I'm selling them!!! Hehehehe! My house is waaaaaaayyyy to small to store things that barely get used!

For now I just use the baby oatmeal. But honestly I think it's the same stuff! This is the first week she's had oats and she seems fine on them. I also bought a box of mixed grains that I will try eventually. I just don't want too many boxes open at once so they all get stale, ya know? And mmmmmmmmmmmm to your cinnamin toast! I haven't had it since I was a kid but I remember how yummy it was! I checked my book and haven't been able to find anything about meat yet. But Bekah was being fussy so I really didn't give it much of a try. I would bet you could easily freeze those, too. And I'm going to start cooking up some noodles for Bekah to feed herself. She's been doing fantastically at getting her bread to her mouth all by herself. It's really nice!

I know, it's so annoying how we'd both have to travel just to get to the ocean, isn't it? My friends drove down. It took them two days but even with the hotel they said it was cheaper than flying. I just wouldn't want to be on the road that long! Especially coming back because I always just want to be home. So if we fly then we'll need a couple hundred dollars more I imagine...who knows, maybe a lot more then that by the time we go! Stupid gas prices!!!

Mmmmmmmm again on the homemade ice-cream! I've been trying to lay off the fattening stuff but just couldn't resist getting some sherbet to nibble on in the evenings. It's been so refreshing!

Oh and my friend who got married last month also went and got spray tanned and she came out looking fantastic! She didn't look orangy at all. It really looked natural and it blended her farmer's tan into the rest of her skin. She did have to go a couple times to make it look perfectly blended, though. Hopefully you don't have much of a farmer's tan to worry about! She works outside so her's was super dark and totally noticeable. Hence the reason she didn't want to look like a dork in her wedding pictures! lol!

And I was so happy with myself today because I was finally able to stomach cleaning my bathroom! It was sooooo bad! I felt like a slobby pig of a wife...even though Kevin would NEVER say anything. He knows he can just as easily clean it! lol! But yes, I'm so happy to have everything sparkly and non-stinky again! It's extremely unlike me to let it go but the smells of the cleaners and the toilet make me want to urp so bad!!! But I got through it today! YAY!

Anyhow, now that I've probably grossed you out I'll let you go! hehehehe! I hope Laney went down as well as Bekah did. She was so tuckered out! I'm going to go grab my babyfood book and see what it says about meat! I hope you have a great evening and that Bill surprises you by getting in early. I'm not holding my breath for that to be the case with Kevin! lol! xoxoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Tuesday, 19 August
Well, apparently it's not another tooth. I checked this morning, so she must have just been in a mood yesterday. It was Monday afterall! lol! I'm actually really glad it's not another tooth yet. I want to get some good toothy pictures with just her bottom two teeth but they really need to grow in a bit more to see them better. How exciting about Laney's teeth coming it, though! Although you might feel a little sad like I did when her gummy grin goes away. She'll never be gummy again...until she's old anyway! hehehehehe!

That nursery idea totally kicks butt! I LOVE IT!!! And I bet Bill would be a huge fan, too. Well maybe you'll get a boy the next time around...

I'm getting really excited about moving furniture around and getting things ready in the nursery for two babies. I found the exact matching crib that we have for Bekah on Craiglist today! It's a crib that's no longer made so it was totally by chance! We'd have to drive an hour and a half to pick it up but even with the gas we'd still be paying a lot less than we would buying brand new with the mattress at Wal-Mart. Plus it comes with a bunch of crib bedding that I could resell on Ebay. So we'll see if it's still for sale. It was only listed 3 days ago so I'm just waiting for a reply from the owner.

That's pretty crappy about the IRS. It seems like the right hand never talks to the left when it comes to government stuff. I don't know why they have to make you fret over something you were very responsible about in the first place. Hopefully it will work out very soon. It's just like my hospital bill. After having Bekah they kept sending me all these insane bills and I kept resubmitting my insurance. But they'd never take that info and do something about it. Well I finally just called my insurance company directly and had them deal with the hospital. It's been 3 months or so and I think it finally got taken care of! Thank God because we're starting all over again very soon! lol!

I'm sorry it's still so hot there. We've been enjoying the cooler weather. I think it's only been in the lower 80's for a couple weeks now. SO NICE! I can finally enjoy my porch swing again! And get off my lazy butt and go for walks without drowning in my own sweat!

I haven't seen any cranberries that are fresh at the store so I'm sure I'll do the same as you and buy the frozen. No worries though. They're still fresher than canned. Oh, and I tried strawberry yogurt with Bekah this morning. First of all let me tell you she freaked out and loved it SO much! It was cute! Second of all, no reactions whatsoever! YAY! I think we're going to be ok with berries! Woohoo! Now I can do blueberries and raspberries...oh, and eventually mix them all together. Today I mixed plums and apples with oatmeal and Bekah went nuts with that, too!

As far as our trip ideas, we're hoping to do a cruise out of Alabama and all through the gulf, making several stops in Mexico. Our friends spent about $2300 from start to finish on their cruise, so it seems reasonable to save that much over the course of two years...especially with two giant tax returns! And my mom was saying something the other day about how she heard the government is talking of another tax rebate at some point. That would be an added bonus, too!

Anyhow, I've been rambling for a while now and really feel hungry (as usual). So I need to go eat before Bekah wakes up from her nap. Kiss Laney for me and keep a couple smooches for yourself, too! xoxoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Tuesday, 19 August
Hey! So Bekah had the worst day today! She was just like Laney, fussy no matter what. She didn't want to be cuddled, didn't want to sleep, didn't want to eat...I don't really know what her deal was. Maybe she's cutting a tooth on the top. Honestly I just now thought of that and didn't check earlier. Oh well. I'm praying to God she'll be better tomorrow. I feel exhausted after listening to her fussing all day long!

The plane theme would be absolutely adorable I think! Would you do the nursery that way? I love the idea. How funny that you were positive Laney was a boy. Did you find out before you had her or did you wait for the surprise?

I'm glad the teething tablets seem to help Laney as much as Bekah. I think those were the only things that finally calmed her last night and allowed her to sleep. Her bottom teeth are getting longer and longer so I imagine they still bother her some. Oh and today she started nibbling on one of her toys and when I looked at it later it had all these crazy teeth marks in it! lol!

Honestly I'm praying Bekah doesn't become a mama's girl. I know this sounds terrible but I totally need my space and if I'm the only one she's happy with then I'm not happy at all! I love her to death, much like I love my husband, but I also need to have a little bit of a life of my own, ya know? I hate it when I can't even leave the room to go to the bathroom without Bekah throwing a fit.

I've been giving Bekah some bread the last couple days. She's a HUGE fan! It's so cute because she actually does fairly well at getting it to her mouth by herself. And then she gets all excited. I'm going to check my book about when we can start meat. I'm not exactly sure how to even make it so she can eat it without choking. Can you blend meat? Sounds totally revolting to me! lol!

I need to get come cranberries to add to my apples. That sounds SOOOO yummy to me. I think I've decided I'm just going to bite the bullet and try some berries one at a time. Kevin has some strawberry yogurt in the fridge so tomorrow is the day! She loves her cherry yogurt so much! It's like a dessert and she always makes the mmmmmmm sounds. It's so cute when they do that, isn't it?

Well, I need to relax for the evening. I'm feeling so tired tonight that I'm thinking I may be in bed before Kevin gets home from work! Kisses to you and Laney! xoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Monday, 18 August
Well Bekah woke this morning at a quarter to 6 and I fed her and put her right back to Bed. I've come to the conclusion that if it's before 6 then she'll lay back down for at least an hour or so. Thank God! And then Kevin got up with her this morning and she was super duper fussy. He was up with her for two hours, which is normally a long time for her to go before she wants to lay down. Well when he laid her back down she screamed until I finally went in to get her and she was happy as a clam. I think we have a mama's girl on our hands! Oh, and for the first time she was sitting up in her crib. I hadn't actually experienced her ever getting into the sitting position on her own yet. So anyhow, I finally just got her to lay down for a while. We'll see how long she naps.

I don't personally care for all the sporty stuff for boys. I'm more into things like frogs and bugs and cars and trucks. So cute! But you're right, it is harder to come up with props for girls. I didn't even think of props at all. It was the photograpgher who gave her the bear for the pics. Such a cute idea though.

Yeah, they always want to sleep extra long when company comes, don't they? Bekah slept so much when we were visiting our family in NY. And it seems like she sleeps for super long periods of time whenever Kevin's brother and family come over. All they want to do is cuddle and all she wants to do is sleep! lol!

Try not to fret about theis coming weekend. And I don't think it's rude to discreetly ask about money for the limo. It's not like you were planning to pay for the whole thing to begin with. It was a deal you made with them, right? And they enjoyed it so they need to be honest and help out.

And as far as Laney goes, I'm sure she'll be fine with your in-laws...but if you in any way feel uncomfortable and know you won't have a good time at the rehearsal dinner than maybe she should go to your mom's. You're supposed to be the maid of honor, right? So if your constantly worrying about Laney then you won't be able to focus your attention on the bride, which is why you're there. It was hard enough for me to do that last month because I didn't have anyone who could watch Bekah so I had to get through everything with her hanging off my arm the whole time!

Yes, I agree that my pregnancy seems to be flying by! I marvel at the fact that I'm only 16 days away from the halfway point! CRAZY! It seemed to take forever with Bekah. But I'm just so much busier this time that my days are filled almost from the moment I wake up until the moment I lay down for the night. And I seriously forget that I'm pregnant. If it weren't for the occasional kicks and the big baby belly I'd have trouble believing it! lol!

It's got to be hard knowing you're not going back to school while everyone else is. But it's still so worth it to stay home with Laney, right? And it will still be there next year or the following year and so forth. So whenever you're finally ready to return! My niece and nephew start school today and they have been excited about it for weeks. I hope all goes well for them! I can't wait to hear about their first day!

So it sounds like Laney's sitting about like Bekah was at her age...mostly doing well but not realizing she has to be careful when she's turning to grab toys and such. It's so nice now that Bekah's extremely steady. She doesn't really fall over at all unless it's purposeful because she's going to move somewhere else. I love it because she keeps herself occupied for longer periods by herself and I can get more things done. She's just happy to have more control over her own body. I think she's going to go nuts when she finally figures out how to officially crawl. It seems like she's been on the verge of crawling for almost 2 months now. I'm just ready for her to do it!!! Oh, but I still need to buy a couple baby gates...so maybe not completely ready! hehehe!

Anyhow, I have totally hogged all the room on your page with my mile long note. lol! I hope you and Laney are well today. So glad to hear you got so much done on your garage. Hopefully the siding won't take up too much time. Kisses to you and Laney and have a great day! xoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Sunday, 17 August
I think those pictures came out fantastically and I'm really excited to go to Wal-Mart now. I think I'm going to have to steal your flower idea...er rather your mom's flower idea! lol! It was brilliant! Oh, and I had the realization that Laney is sitting up very well in her pictures. Has she been sitting up like that alone for a while now? It's only been a couple weeks for Bekah.

Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that I can't have anything baked in the house. If it's there I'll eat it. So I totally understand the cookies driving you nuts! hehehe!

I didn't think about the fact that the orajel would be a pain to put in the right place. Especially since they always want to bite down on anything that goes in their mouth. The teething tablets do work very well and they disolve as quickly as they hit the mouth. I tried one and honestly I don't know how they work because they didn't numb my mouth at all...but I tell ya, they seem to work wonders!

So I don't know if Bekah was kind of freaked out by how her bed had changed or what, but she kept waking up last night before we finally went to bed. I think she woke up 3 times and we finally ended up giving her a 4 oz bottle. Then she still woke up this morning at her usual time of 6:30. And Kevin's back was bothering him from work yesterday so I got up on my day to sleep in (we take turns!). So I'm really sleepy this morning. I finally laid Bekah down for her morning nap and am just waiting a couple minutes to make sure she goes to sleep without any fuss. Then I'm totally heading back to bed for a little while...not too long because it's church day!

Anywho...I hope your day goes well. I'll be all by my lonesome again so I'm sure you'll get another note from me before too long. Kisses to you and Laney! xoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Sunday, 17 August
Oh my gosh, those new pictures are SOOOOOOOO beautiful! I love her big ol' smiles! Are these ones you had done at Walmart? Because if they are then I'm excited to go there from now on!

Rebekahs-mama - Sunday, 17 August
Hi! YAY! I was so happy to get your message because I'm soooooooo bored and lonely! Still waiting for Kevin to get home. He's working for a small company that cleans delivery trucks. He will probably be cleaning milk delivery trucks mostly (they look like oil trucks to me! lol!). It's nice because he can work whenever and however much he wants. And he just gets paid per truck, so it's easy to figure out exactly how much we'll need him to work each week. He will more than likely be working a couple days during the week and then going to his other job at FedEx in the evenings. It's just that he had some training to do today. I guess you have to use some chemicals and there's some safety things you have to know.

It's our 8 year anniversary on Tuesday. We're starting to save for our ten year and would LOVE to go on a cruise. We've always said it would be fantastic to do something tropical while we're still young! lol! My parents have never traveled and done anything like that and Kevin's parents only just went on their first cruise in April. They're nearly 60! I don't want to be old and wrinkly when having fun in the sun, ya know? hehehe!

All I can say about that mom is that she must have someone working for her or something. Even if she has a person come in and clean it would take a lot of pressure off her daily routine. You know what I would like to do to lighten my daily routine? 30 day cooking. I did it a couple times several years ago with my SIL. Have you done anything like that? You just plan a months worth of meals (maybe 8-10 different things) and then spend a Saturday cooking and dividing into portions. It's really fantastic to just pull something homemade out of the freezer and heat it up. I think I'll strive to do that before this baby is born!

Yeah, I know what you mean about having things so packed in that you can't really even get organized. That's exactly how my laundryroom is! it's so annoying because it also serves as random storage. I'd love to have some cabinets or shelving installed in there at some point. I bet it would make a huge difference. Oh, and we don't even have a driveway let alone a garage...so storage is a huge issue. No basement either...just a big shed and lots of clever storage in the house! We have definitely learned to throw things away, too!

How exciting about Laney's first tooth! Has she been very fussy? I hope she drifted right off to la la land without any problems tonight! Oh, and I've found that teething tablets from Walmart also work fantastically...just in case she doesn't like the taste of the orajel.

Bekah was such a ham today. She was all smiley and silly. I love it when I don't really have a whole lot to do and I can just spend time with her. We played for a long time on the front porch. She really loves the outdoors and it's been such nice weather. One thing we did do today is lower her crib mattress. When we heard her wake from her morning nap we found her sitting up and starting to pull herself into a standing position by the bedrails! YIKES! She's growing way to fast! So yeah, we lowered that bed as low as it goes. I'd hate to have her climb over the edge and fall on her little head!

Oh, and no, no more biting!

Anyhow, I think I'm going to get on the phone and see where Kevin's at. The sun has gone down so I imagine he's on his way home by now. I hope your night goes well! Kiss Laney for me! xoxoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Sunday, 17 August
Holy crap I feel like I want to kick some butt! Parenting magazine must have an idiot for an editor to even think of printing something like that in the first place! I mean, how many SAHM's did they just piss off? Der! I'm busy almost all the time and when I'm not I'm so stinking tired that it's about all I can do to sit and relax for a few minutes. One of the reasons I respect Oprah so much is bcause she firmly believes (and has mentioned several times on her show) that SAHM's have the hardest job in the world. And she's not even a mom herself! Let's just face it, if I wasn't here then my husband would be a total basket case, the house would be a mess, Rebekah would be eating crappy store food, Kevin would be wearing the same pair of underwear for 5 days and mac n cheese would be a staple food for sure. Not to mention the fact that there may not be any electricity, water, gas, car, etc because the bills wouldn't get paid! Geesh! The nerve of that stupid magazine! lol! Yes, you figured out what pushes my buttons! hehehe! I'd totally write in if I were you! And I bet you won't be the only one. In fact, I bet they have to issue an apology!

My cough is better, thanks so much for asking. It's slowly gotten less and less annoying. Thank God!

It would be great if you can get your garage done soon. Then maybe Bill can spend some more time with you while he's home. Is there a lot left to do once the outside is done?

About the breastmilk, yes, I only do it right before meal times. Although I'm quite certain now that it's dwindling to the point that I'm going to have to switch her entirely to formula. She's been waking at 5 am again starving to death. I fed her a bottle last night before bed and she held out until 6:30 like usual. So I think I'll do that again tonight. I think I'm going to try and take a suppliment called dandelion root to help bring my milk supply back up. My SIL used it while she was pregnant and still nursing and she said it brought everything back to normal. That would be fantastic because formula is so expensive! Oh, but because she wakes so early in the morning and eats right away then she generally can only make it until 11 for lunch...and then 4 for dinner. It actually works out well for us because then she's all done eating right before we eat and we don't have to worry about trying to juggle both. I know that will change but for now it's a lot easier.

Anyhow, I'm sitting here waiting for Kevin to get home. He's been working all afternoon. I forgot he was to start his job today so I was a bit disappointed when we couldn't go out for our anniversary as planned. Oh well...maybe next week.

I hope you and Laney are having a great weekend. Have fun tomorrow when your family visits...even if it's just to work! Hugs and kisses to you! xoxoxox Amanda

laniebug - Saturday, 16 August
Hey i saw your comment on the 6 month page and thought I would respond. I am doing the same as you i think. 4 bottles a day, 2 around meal times, one in the late afternoon and one at bedtime. My twins also are doing solids twice a day right now, I think I will go to three times daily at 7 months. I hope that answers your question! Just curious, how much is your little one eating at each bottle?

Rebekahs-mama - Saturday, 16 August
Yes, I have Bekah's cold...have had it for a week now. It's just a nasty cough, though. So annoying to try and sleep because it seems worse as soon as I lay down. I really hope it goes away...especially since I can't take any cold medicine while preggers.

Well, we originally moved here to go to college at the same college as Kevin's brother and wife. They they graduated and moved back home to NY. We kept going for a couple more years and then Kevin transferred and finished at another school while I worked. Just last year his brother and wife moved back with their two kids. It's been fantastic having them close again. We had gotten very used to being alone out here and actually didn't realize how much we missed family until they were suddenly here again! lol! I'm excited for Kevin's mom to visit next month. It will be great!

No more teeth that I know of so far. But I bet you're right about Laney popping one soon. Bekah acted so wierd during those couple weeks. And just wait. You think a gummy bite hurts...those two little teeth of Bekah's are SO SHARP! And this morning she scooted over to my leg and bit me on the knee! It really hurt and I scolded her! hehehe!

My very first instinct was a girl. I had absolutely no doubt to the point that when I saw a bib that said little sister I was about to buy it when Kevin was like, what are you doing? We don't know what it is yet! lol! But...now I'm seeing all the other ladies due during my time and their almost ALL having boys. I think there have only been two girls so far out of probably 20 that have found out! So it's making me doubt a little.

Well, my friend just came over so I should stop being rude and get off! hehe! I should be around this weekend, totally bored because Kevin is starting his new job. So Have a great night and I'll hopefully write more tomorrow! xoxoxoxox Amanda

Rebekahs-mama - Friday, 15 August
Hi! Thanks! We think so too! It was nearly impossible to choose but we had to since we're so poor right now. Although I did send the link to my family members in hopes they might buy a few! hehe! Sneaky, I know. And I know when I go to pick up the pictures that they'll have several extra sheets printed and they'll offer them to me for $20 total. It's kind of evil, but we purposely didn't order anymore because if we decide we want more then we'll just buy those extras. SOOOO much cheaper than paying $8 per sheet and another $7 for any enhancements they do. Anyhow, that close-up pose is the main large picture in our collage. There are three small pictures along the side. It's going to be so cute!

Yeah, Bekah's still quite clumsy with getting the food from hand to mouth if she doesn't pick it up just perfectly. I just help her along so she doesn't get too frustrated! lol!

It's VERY hard moving away from family. I'll be the first one to tell you. We've lived 1100 miles from all but our brother and sister-in-law for the past 7 years. And they only just moved back last year...before that we were completely alone for 5 years. But you get used to it. It just sucks now that we all have kids because grandparents don't get to see them very often, ya know? I really hate having them all miss out on so many important milestones. Thank God for cameras with the video option!

Not much else new here. I'm still coughing like a crazy woman. It's been hard to sleep well at night because it seems like the coughing gets so much worse the moment I lay down. Thank you Bekah for giving me your cold!!! hehe!

Yes, it will come in extremely handy if this baby's a girl. We really won't need anything clothing wise at all. But if it's a boy then we only have a handful of unisex things that will work. I guess that's one of the reasons why I wish we knew sooner...I'd need to hit some yard sales for boy stuff! Oh and I'll tell you what...aside from 2 ladies so far, all the babies are boys this time! It seems like someone due around my time is finding out they're having a boy everyday! I think it's funny how it goes in waves like that. Last year it was all girls...including me and you!

Anyhow, I think I'm going to go heat up some soup. It's been great on my throat! That and the rainbow sherbet Kevin bought for me! YAY! And YUM! I'm sure I'll talk to you tomorrow! xoxoxox
