Hey! I'm Krystle. I'm 23 years old and live with my boyfriend Zach. We have an unbelievable daughter named Riley. She was born June 6th, 2008. She's amazing! We also have two cats Sadie and Zeus. I'm so grateful for finding this site while I was pregnant. If not I honestly don't think I could have survived!

collsbaby - Saturday, 2 August
Your welcome! I just hope it helps. I know what a pain it can be to get rid of, so if I can help, then GREAT!

The gentian violet stayed on anywhere from 2-4 days, but it got a lot lighter after the first day. The gentian violet helped with the pain, especially for my nipples. It seems to help her too. You only use it for 5 days, then if you don't see an improvement, you stay off it for like 3, then you can start up again. but don't go for more than 7 days in a row the second time. (If you google thrush and gentian violet, you'll find stuff about it.) You can dab a q-tip into the GV, get off the excess drops and put it around her mouth, and even let her suck on the q-tip a bit. It spreads super fast and stains everything purple, but honestly, I found that it did come out of the clothing if I washed them right away and treated the stain. And you get some funny pics!

Gentian violet isn't used as much and can be hard to find, but it was used a lot back in the day to treat thrush. Sometimes the thrush is too strong and the GV won't work. I found it to work. There have been studies where they say it can cause mouth cancer, this kinda scared the crap outta me, so I did some research and talked to my lactation consultant who is also an RN and she also happens to be like my second mom...so she wouldn't have me do anything to hurt me or the baby...and she said that it does work, and that you'd have to drink bottles and bottles of the stuff all the time over a very long period of time to develop anything like mouth cancer from it. But they have to say that so they don't get sued if something happened. the amount you are using is soooo small, because you are just dabbing it in the liquid and shaking off the excess, she said it would be fine. I was in such extreme pain, that i just trusted her judgment, my doc said it was totally fine too, so i just did it. And it helped us out. I feel the GV was the turning point to getting rid of it. but you have to go with your gut.

For now since you are trying to get rid of the thrush, I'd get about 4 pacifier's, whichever kind she likes, and after she has been using the one for a while...lets say she has it for an hour and during that hour she is spitting it out for a few minutes here and there, but keeps wanting it back in, then she sucks on it for a while, then falls asleep, or whatever, but she's done with it for a while. After she falls asleep, or is no longer interested in it for a longer period of time, like an hour or so, then that is when I'd be done with it for the day and boil it. I would only boil everything once a day, because you have too much other stuff to do, ya know? That's why I say to have some on hand. Usually during her morning nap is when I'd boil everything. I took everything she had that morning and the day before and put it in a small pot, fill with a lot of water because you don't want anything touching the bottom of the pan, and set the timer. If they are cheap plastic, they might melt or become misshapen (the part that goes around their mouth.) but just now I boiled some 'Nuk" brand ones and some Classic Pooh ones I got from Target, along with her soothies and they all worked out great. I even boiled a set of plastic baby keys from "First Years" and those were good too. (I still boil her stuff a few times a week just in case...) when we had it, it was everyday. What I did was get a strainer/colander leave it by the sink and after each bottle, paci, whatever, I'd drop it in there when it was dirty, rinse out the formula, etc. And then when I had everything I needed to boil, I'd wash everything with hot soapy water to get off the milk, germs, etc., then put it in the pan, add water and boil. After it was done i'd take them out with my strainer spoon and put them in her basket to dry and then I knew that anything in the basket was good to go, anything in the colander was dirty. (You've gotta let your husband/other helpers know your system too so nothing gets cross contaminated. You know how men are! haha) I still take acidophilus myself because I am prone to yeast infections too, and I change out my breast pads constantly, and I use vinegar/water on my nipples at each shower. I live in a hot, tropical climate, and yeast feeds on moist, damp areas and sugar as well, so I am super careful to not get it again.

It seems like a lot to do, but really, you get used to it.

With the nystatin, I'd put the recommended amount into a small dish, and with a clean finger I'd put some on my finger and try to put it all over her mouth, cheeks, roof of her mouth, tongue, etc., and I'd let her suck it off my finger, until everything was gone from the dish. I had to cut my nail way back on the finger that I was using for her mouth so my nail wouldn't get the roof of her mouth when I was letting her suck it off my finger. I had to keep dipping my finger in the dish to get more medicine about 8-10 times maybe until it was all gone. Ask your doc about Diflucan if the nystatin won't work. (It's more expensive so they don't want to perscribe it, even though the nystatin doesn't do sh!t!...my opinion) But diflucan (or sometimes it's called fluconazole) (sp?) she'll actually drink. And you'd take a pill for it if you are still feeling pain.

If she has a diaper rash too from the thrush, then having her outside without a diaper for a bit so the sun and air can get to it is really good to help clear it up too. Just make sure she doesn't get burned. It doesn't have to be hot sun, late afternoon is fine.

You should put the nystatin on a few minutes after she eats so it can sit in there and work. If you put it on before, it all gets washed down with the milk and she'll pee it right out.

Keep me posted! And hang in there...it does get better!

I hate gas and oil.

It's tax free weekend here too. It sucks because I need a new bathing suit for vacation and I have hardly any clothes but we don't have any money to go shopping. We're hardly even going to have money for our vacation. Grrr. I hate money. I hate gas. I hate oil. Haha.

Yeah, I hate stepping on the scale and I just won't do it anymore. They say to do it in the morning because you haven't eaten yet or anything. When you've eaten, it can add on a few pounds. Yuck! LOL

I really like the main picture you have on myspace. I'm sure you still look just as beautiful. I so get you on feeling like a giant juggly stretch mark. I feel like one too. Yuck. I also feel like a huge fucking cow too. Haha. Aren't we just a joyous bunch? LOL

ll bree ll - Friday, 1 August
it gets like that sometimes! i dont know why!! ive been in there and they had a crapload of stuff and would spend like 100 bucks, and other times im not even in that department for more than 2 minutes. its soo weird. im not gunna start to look for winter things til october. not sure when it starts to snow here :/

ll bree ll - Friday, 1 August

preciousangels2 - Friday, 1 August
I think the lodge place sounds pretty cool too. When we got married in Sept 04, gas was around $1.50/gal. I remember we could fill up the tank with $17. Haha. Now it costs like $60. Fucking crazy. I can't believe that when the price of oil drops, gas doesn't. The other day oil dropped from about $150/barrel to $125/barrel. Have we seen any difference at the pumps? Hell no! I hate that. Don't you think that the prices should reflect one another? I do.

I so know what you mean! Whenever Chris is having trouble with Cayden, I always end up going and helping. I can't stand to listen to him cry.

(OK, please check everything here with your pediatrician/lactation specialist...but this is wha ti did for me and my baby.) You don't actually have to stop breastfeeding because of Thrush. It won't cure it by stopping and it won't make it worse by continuing, you just have to be more persistent in killing the yeast. If someone told you that you had to stop breastfeeding in order to get rid of it, or to make it "go away" they were wrong. (My MIL tried to get me to stop because she said it will go away, and that is wrong information. You already have it, you need to get rid of the yeast in order for it to go away.) In my opinion and the opinion of my LC, the yeast is so hard on their belly's that if you then start using formula after only breastfeeding it can cause more problems in their belly, because on top of the yeast, they are now trying to digest formula which is made with cows milk and it has much larger enzymes to digest, than human milk. But it sounds like you have it too, so hopefully your doc was having you take the medicine as well, or you won't get rid of it. You need to actually boil everything that touches the baby's mouth everyday for 20 minutes. The yeast can come back an hour and a half after killing it, to kill it, you have to boil her things. So if you use a binkie in the am, and then use it later that day without boiling it to kill it, it can come back. I used "Soothies" because they don't collect water in them, and they can withstand being boiled day after day for a minimum of 20 minutes at a time because they are silicone. (20 min is enough time to kill everything.) You can find them at Target, K-mart, etc. and they are turquoise for 0-3, pink for 3+. One brand I had (carters I think) melted the plastic that goes around her mouth. You'll want to boil all bottle parts as well, all the plastic rings and anything that touches her mouth, formula, saliva, etc. I'd get the soothies for now, so you can boil them, then go back to using whatevdr you like after it's gone. I washed everything first in hot, soapy water like you are doing to get off the milk and germs, then boil it. If you boil them with milk still left on, it makes a residue on everything that won't come off. I learned that the hard way, so m=now my bottles have this film from breastmilk being boiled on there. If you are pumping, that stuff needs to be boiled too, after every use. I'd only give her a binkie for "one use", like if she needs it for a nap, then when she spits it out, I'm done using that until it's been boiled. (You can't boil teething stuff that has liquid in it, so it's good you're not teething yet.) When you use the vinegar/water solution, you can also soak a paper towel in it and wipe her hands with it after she has been sticking them in her mouth. Vinegar also will help kill yeast. If she has a diaper rash, it's a good idea to use the solution in her diaper area (not inside, just around), in the bath to help kill yeast causing the diaper rash. 1 tablespoon white distilled vinegar to 1 cup of water or even 2 cups of water for her diaper area. You can even use grapefruit seed extract, but make sure it's very concentrated. A girl posted about using GSE on the thrush forum and her measurements were way off, it needs to be waaaaay more diluted than what she had on there. If you decide to use GSE then I can tell you more, but vinegar is cheaper, you probably already have it and it's safe for baby's mouth if it is concentrated. (Both are safe for babys mouth when concentrated.) You can run both in the wash as well to kill yeast and bacteria, especially if there are poopy clothes in the wash. You can also get Acidophilus (probiotic) and add some to her bottle to help fight the yeast in her belly. It's good bacteria that helps fight th ebad basically and acidophilus (which is found in yogurt-"live cultures"), helps to balance the bacteria in her belly. You can get the capsules that you can open, and pour about half into her bottle. Or wet your finger, dip your finger in the acidophilus and let her suck on your finger. Again, ask your LC or ped because I'm sure this probably sounds crazy, but when a doc tells us it's ok, then it's "normal". I personally didn't care for the nystatin because it has sugar and yeast feeds on sugar. We used it at first then I switched to Difulcan (sp?). I rubbed the nystatin in her mouth, gums, tongue, cheeks with my finger about every 2-4 hours. and i mean EVERY 2+ hours. I didn't give it for her to "drink" by dropper per say because it made her throw up and so I was advised to rub her whole mouth with it. before i did that i took a q-tip and rubbed her mouth with the vinegar solution first to try to get off as must of the yeast as possible, then did the medicine. they are probably having you do it like 4 times a day? this is not enough, especially since the yeast can grow back after an hour and a half. My SIL is a pharmacist and she said every 2 hrs (or after each feeding) is ok. Anyway, I know this is a lot of info, but if you are persistent with the boiling everyday, and only using each thing once before you boil it again, and using the vinegar solution to wash, etc. it will probably help to get rid of it. My baby was very fussy from the thrush. It's hurts their belly so much, the acidophilus helped with that. (If you are pumping your breastmilk, don't freeze it and use it for later, it will still contain yeast. Let me know if any of this helps. Good luck.

What jobs did you send your resume to? Hopefully something works out for ya. I know how it is to completely hate your job. I didn't like the place I worked at before. The pay was alright and the benefits were semi okay but that's about it. I did like most of the people I worked with though. I so can't believe how much gas is now. It went down a little bit but it's still freaking ridiculous. I think it's 3.69/gal here.

preciousangels2 - Thursday, 31 July
Have you talked to Zach about how much you want to stay home? Maybe you guys could work something out. I think, and you probably agree, that your daughter is the most important thing to be thinking about right now. That and tomorrow is August 1st and you still haven't found someone to watch her. LOL, are you trying to put it off until the last minute so that you know you won't find someone, therefore you'll be forced to stay home? LOL I know how you feel though. I'm so against putting babies in daycare. But I'm also just paranoid. All those stories you hear now a days. We were going to have to put Cayden in daycare and I was going to have to go back to work but Chris got offered this great job opportunity so we took it so that I can stay home with the kids. LOL, before you said you loved your job, how come the sudden hatred? LOL It's because your daughter comes first, right? I know how it is.

lol, im not buying one yet. ill probly get it at walmart, because they grow so fast ill probably have to buy two sizes

Well, the rep was just going door to door. Apparently break ins have increased forty something percent in the past year. Crazy!! And there was a few break ins a couple blocks from our neighborhood recently, I guess. So they were targeting an area near there about alarms.

I can't believe that many babies are born a day in that hospital!!! I don't know how many babies are born at the hospital here a day but the night I went in and had Cayden, 5 babies were born while I was in labor, which was 4hrs while I was at the hospital. Who knows. It was a stormy night that night. Thunder and lightening. They say storms and the barometric pressure can cause babies to be born, kinda like the full moon thing.

You should definitely have someone come by after you get Riley to bed at night so that you can go out and have a few drinks. You need some you time too. Damn, I'm sooo jealous! I wish Cayden would sleep. Lately the longest stretch he's had is 4-5hrs. I was really hoping he'd be sleeping through the night by the time we go on vacation but I don't know if that's going to happen! We got 11 more days.

Good luck with the new formula! Hopefully she takes it good! Cayden has been really gassy today. Loud farts too! LOL

padow - Thursday, 31 July
Is she sleeping 8-9 hours straight??!

padow - Thursday, 31 July
No, I ended up needing a c-section because I couldn't dialate past 3 after my water had broke (over 15 hours before) and she went into distress (cord around her neck...duh!)...it went really well. Yes, I am STILL numb--r u?? It's pretty crazy. I didn't have any stretch marks until after the procedure, too! Just a few along my lower belly. I still have some weight to lose, too. That's all right! Norah is pretty happy...she does get real fussy at night but I don't think it's colic. Boy--what an eater she is!! She has her 2 mo. appt tomorrow, so it will be cool to see how much she actually weighs! She was 9 lbs, 14 oz. 3 weeks ago!! Doesn't it just kill you when she's crying? Norah just wails and I feel soo terrible! John doesn't get it...I guess because I am the mom and he's the dad! Well, I hope you have a great day. Give Riley a hug for me!!! And please keep in touch!

ll bree ll - Thursday, 31 July
lol, the year i moved to nc there was that freak snowstorm and everyone was snowed in for 2 weeks. i remember thinking how stupid it was, because everyone rushed to the store for milk and bread, but it was normal to us. we had moved from cali to nc, but we still knew what to do and stuff. i cant wait to put her in a little snowsuit

lilgracie - Wednesday, 30 July
Nobody has really said anything about it. When she first came out it looked like a little bruise. The nurse in recovery was like "awww, she got a little bruise". Then it turned into the hemangioma. When I read that they go away eventually I wasn't worried. But some people, in my research, talk about having them surgically removed. Like, when they're not obstructing anything.

preciousangels2 - Wednesday, 30 July
Yeah, I love free crap! What's cool too is if we move, the alarm system stays, which brings the value of the house up and they'll come and install a new alarm system in our new house for free! More free!! LOL

I guess Chris likes his job. He doesn't like firing people though. But he does it a lot. He actually did have today off. 40-50 babies a day!?! Do you go to multiple hospitals or is it just at one hospital??? That sure is a shit ton of babies! LOL

So I had some of those mudslides last night. Pretty damn good. It's called the best kickass mudslide. LOL By Bartenders Original or something like that.

Sounds like me and Chris. We always stay up pretty late too. Before Cayden was born, we'd stay up until 2 or something. Even now there are nights when I don't get to sleep until 1 or 1:30. I try to go to bed by midnight but that hardly ever happens. On days when I'm wicked tired though, I'll go to bed around 11.

Wow, she hates being held? Cayden likes it but he also likes to have his alone time when he's just chillin in his vibrating chair or something. He's starting to play on his floor mat too. He swings his arms at the hanging toys. Too cute. He's smiling and cooing a TON now too. I love it! Last night he kept smiling at the dog. Has Riley laughed yet? Cayden has a couple of times but it's been a while since he has. I think last night he was trying to laugh but I don't know. He was in his chair and he was smiling but it sounded like he was trying to cry. LOL I don't know. He had the biggest smile on his face though.

shes always disliked her carseat but now she dislikes it a little more. not hate though. all his family is here. we moved with his mom cus shes sick

My sons appt with the specialist was on wednesday however we got hit with the hurricane and they had to reschedule it to September 3rd. But Ill let you know. MY sons started to grow very rapidly then stopped. NOt quite sure why keep me posted.

collsbaby - Wednesday, 30 July
Hey, so sorry to hear you still have it. I'm going to be perfectly honest, we had it for almost 3 months. I am still breastfeeding and I had it too. I'm assuming you don't have it otherwise you'd be screaming through the computer from the pain. I'm going to try to help you out as best as i can because I know how hard it can be to get rid of. Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding? Is she teething? Is she wearing mittens? Does she put her hands in her mouth (or anything else) constantly? ...it's a b!tch!

preciousangels2 - Wednesday, 30 July
We got the free alarm system because we're doing 'advertising' for them. All we had to do was let them put a little sign in our yard. And I mean it's little and up in the front by the bushes by our front porch. Honestly, I don't think you see it unless you look for it.

Chris is part owner of a pizza chain here in town. It's like a franchise thing. But yeah, he's got a lot he has to do and since he fired someone today, that means he's working until close because he has to take over their shift until he fixes the schedule. Sucks. But at least we're going on vacation in 13 days! I'm so freakin excited!!!!!!

padow - Wednesday, 30 July
Hey...how are you doing? Congrats on your little bundle!!

ll bree ll - Tuesday, 29 July
she was soooooo good til about the last few hours. she wanted out so bad. but i dont blame her. i was so fed up. we didnt stop after we started, so she was pretty cranky. but it was fine. she wasnt BAD i guess. but i say shes bad when she cries cus she rarely does

preciousangels2 - Tuesday, 29 July
Yeah, I have to get my period first. Then they can put it in. I have to call the day I get my period so they can get me in there. Other than that, everything went as expected. I did get some condoms just in case. Haha.

Well, hopefully you can get Riley to sleep soon. I bought some wine and some stuff to make mudslides with so that's what I'll be doing later. It's still too early. I don't want to be wasted when Chris gets home from work tonight. He has to work until about 9:30pm and he went in at 8 this morning. Yuck!

Oh yeah!! We got a FREE home security system yesterday. All we have to do is keep the companies small sign in our yard. And of course, pay the monthly fee for the fire dept and police and hospital to be notified when the alarm goes off. Speaking of that. I have to go call my home insurance company so they can give me the discount on our insurance.

preciousangels2 - Tuesday, 29 July
Cayden's hair fell out. It already started coming back in though. It looks like it's going to be dark. It all fell out on the top so Chris kept calling him Hulk Hogan. Haha!

Wow! That's so lame! What is wrong with men, besides the fact that they're men?

About the period thing, a week ago I had some cramping in the morning and later on when I went to the bathroom there was some blood on the toilet paper so I thought I was getting my period. Then after that there was NOTHING. Then it happened again a couple days ago. So who knows. I'll mention it to me doctor today. My appt is in an hour. I've also heard from some people that their doctor said they had to have a period before putting Mirena in. Hopefully my doctor doesn't say anything about it. Haha. My insurance will be gone sometime around the middle of August so I'll need to have it done soon otherwise I won't be able to get it done at all.

Damn, that sucks that you slept like crap. I hate those nights. Cayden didn't nap at all yesterday. He was up from 9:30am until 10:30pm. It sucked. And he still woke up two times last night. I do love sleeping on my stomach. It's the most comfortable position for me to sleep.

I had a little photo shoot with Cayden yesterday if you wanted to see the pictures. They're on my MySpace in the photography by me album or I put them in the photobucket too. The link is on the top of my page on this site.
