Believe

When you come to the edge of all the light you know,

And are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,

Faith is knowing one of two things will happen:

There will be something solid to stand on ......or you will be taught how to fly.

Update 29 weeks (10/02/08)

Weight: 4lbs 7oz

Ventricles are down: Left 6mm and Right 9mm. (Normal range)

Heart: Need to go to the cardiologist for final status on the heart. Hole may be gone.

Kidneys: Right 6mm, Left larger at about 10mm.

Update 25 weeks (09/04/08)

Weight: 2lbs 9oz

Ventricles: Stable (11mm)

Heart: Hole cannot be detected anymore. Suggested to see Cardiologist for final confirmation.

Kidneys: Right stable at 5mm, Left slightly larger than 4 weeks ago.

Amnio: Normal

Chromosome Defects: None visible.

I am extremely happy of this follow-up. It's a good sign!

Ciao

Update 21 Weeks

Regarding my chromosomes results, everything came back normal. My NT scan and AFP test came back normal, but during the Level 2 exam the baby was found with three abnormalities.

- Ventrical dilated (11mm)

- Hole in the heart

- Kidneys enlarged

Been to the prenatal cardiologist, and the Doc was reassuring. The baby's heart has no defect. The 4 chambers, valves and heartbeat are perfect. Yes, there is a small hole but it's very common most of all at 19 weeks. The hole is in the muscle, therefore the chances of closing the first weeks of life, if not during pregnancy, are very high. The Doc wasn't worried at all and it reassured me.

Now we had an amnio done and we're waiting on the chromosomes.

Baby's weight: 1lb 4oz

Ciao

Original profile

Ok Ladies....this is my first pregnancy and of course my husband and I are extremely happy. Because everything's so new to us, we don't know what to expect and everyday seems to be a challenge to keep our sanity in check. Besides the "common" bleeding, nausea, migraines, back aches, etc., our main concern is that our baby is healthy and that everything's going well in there. :)

Based on what we know, my husband's family is pretty much healthy. My family on the other hand has many "things" going on. In my case specifically, I'm a rare case of spinal cord tumors -had 3 benign ones so far of different types, had radiation for 1 tumor, and I also have Chiari.

Regarding the tumors, I've been tested for NF1 and NF2 and was negative. Docs have no clue of the reason for the tumors.

Regarding the Chiari, which basically are tonsils sticking out of the cerebellum -low portion of the skull, I have a mild case of Chiari that causes however migraines and pressure in my skull. (What can I do...my brain is bigger than my skull ;)

So ....for the above mentioned reasons, I've been now tested for mutated chromosomes. Hopefully, I will not have any so the chances of my baby having any mutated ones "decreases."

Oh well.....I guess I'll have to put my faith in God's hands and pray that everything goes well. *crossing fingers*

Ciao

Awww! Don't you love going back and looking at wedding pics. To think how special of a day that was and now look, we're about to have another BIG day!!!! So sweet.

Kitty210704 - Tuesday, 14 October
Well my doc apoinment went well. The pain is just my hips spreading and preparing for labor. No worries no labor pains Its just uncomfortable when I walk is all. Also, Mykah is 32 cm now at 31 wks 4 dys. Im relieved cause she was 28 cm at 30 wks 0 dys so she had a little growth spurt! I love my belly .its getting bigger and bigger finally. Still about 9 wks to go!

Take care, hope all is well

Kitty210704 - Monday, 13 October
I feel the pain trust me! Im 31 wks and I have a small waddle already. It feels like my hips are spreading cause I feel discomfort "down there" and its annoying and painful. Sometimes the pain is sharp especially first thing in the morning after waking up. Feeling anything similar? I have a doc appointment today so, im going to ask her about it

mariettap - Monday, 13 October
I did. Return the dresser, that is! I will resume the search in a week or so. No worries!

I love to hear about the family already loving the baby! And your Dad--Clearly he is loving this baby's effect on *his* baby, YOU. It's so nice. We have relatives visiting. DH's Dad is quite disabled physically and cognitively these days. But the light switch turns on in the presence of his granddaughter. He watches her with bright smiling eyes, no matter what she is up to.

mariettap - Thursday, 9 October
Well, so much for the dresser. I brought it back today. The store was closed yesterday, and I never had him unload it from my car, so I drove around with it yesterday to run errands. It's alright. We'll get another dresser, and as he said, this one will already be finished, and the delivery people will come and put it right in the room for us. He didn't push the issue, but I could see in his eyes that he really wished I'd send it back, so I did.

Don't worry about the crib. It takes less than an hour to do. He'll be fine, and you'll be resting in the hospital, recovering from childbirth with your baby at your side.

mariettap - Wednesday, 8 October
Oh Dear. I feel like Lucy and Ricky (I Love Lucy--I'm guessing you're familiar with it, right?). I went shopping for a dresser for Petunia. I saw a lot I didn't like in furniture showrooms all day. Then I went into a store that sells unfinished furniture. I found simple furniture that meets our needs and isn't incredibly expensive. I bought a dresser I like and a can of stain and some sandpaper. I told DH on the phone while he was at work and he went nuts. He wants me to return it, says we don't need any more projects, etc. I think he's overwhelmed, but I did feel a lot like Lucy getting scolded for her latest shopping spree. Ugh. I'll let you know how this one goes...

It *is* amazing! I am so happy that you've been able to cast aside all that medical stuff and get to really live and breathe the joys of a baby on the way. Really pleased about that. Yes, I'm getting a beating from the inside out as well. Last night we just sat and watched as my belly took on all kinds of forms, rolling with the punches. I even got one sharp stab while I was bending down! DD was there to hear me yelp, and then I had to tell her it was alright, just that crazy little sister of hers putting up a fuss. :) We painted the baby's room, and I'm hoping to find a dresser I like for her room this afternoon. I prefer to skip the baby furniture and just get a dresser that she can use for a lifetime. I always changed DD on top of her dresser. And we'll put the crib together on Saturday I think. more later if I get a chance. have a great day...

krissynj, actually they measured 38mm but they said that it doesn't seem to be compressing or affecting anything at this time and they want to see him back in a week for another u/s. he's being released today and i don't get to go and take him home. my husband had to go alone today, because i developed a urinarytract infection from having a catheter during the birth they say. i started getting a fever last night after we got home from the hospital visiting with him and this morning woke up to chills and a temp of 102.4 and had to go to the dr. so i am at home and he is bringing him home sometime today, i'm really disappointed that i couldn't go and ride with him. but he's coming home and thats all that matters.no indication of surgery at this time they said, but you never know maybe in the future if it poses a problem, but he is acting like a normal newborn they said.

Hi Krissy! Nice to see you online again :) Sorry to hear about your glucose test. I have found it hard to cut back as well. I didn't hear from them after my 1 hr test, but for months I've known that I needed to cut back for other reasons--In my 2nd tri I kept getting yeast infections, and sugar is a contributor to that. Thank goodness it has been a few weeks now. I do find if I have a protien rich snack, then I crave the carb-stuff less, but the carb & sugar snacks are so much quicker to grab!
Are you constantly amused w your belly and your baby's movements? I've been pregnant for all these months, and I still get surprised when I look down and see that big bulge!

triciah - Sunday, 5 October
have you heard any new on your gd test?

Kitty210704 - Saturday, 4 October
Almost 8 months prego. Its hard to believe! My little one measured at 28 cm at 30 wks. What do you think? Doc says its fine as long as she is growing. Im not too worried. She will prob have a growth spurt sometime soon 10 more weeks!!! I cant wait to see her beautiful face!!

How are things? I hope all is well

kyliecogger - Saturday, 4 October
Hi- GD is really not that bad and is quite easy to control. You will find that carbs are the worst. I can go to McDonalds and have a chocalte ice cream and my sugar will be ok, but if I have white bread it goes through the roof. Low GI foods are the best. The only real effects on the baby is that they tend to be big, which mine certainly is. They also can have low blood sugar at birth if you are on insulin. Our babies can process the sugar themselves and make their on insulin on top of getting the extra we inject. It's just being pregnant that we ourselves do not produce enough insulin for ourself. Good Luck and let me know how it goes.

kyliecogger - Saturday, 4 October
Have you had the GD test- you have a big bubba on your hands. I do to, at 37 weeks my babies head is measuring 41 and body is 39, but I am on insulin for the GD. Good luck and hope all goes well.

capegal - Friday, 3 October
You must be so relieved!!!! Your husband is right about the doctor being able to do something about the kidneys.
Things are going along for me - I am super uncomfortable at this point - I am 35 weeks this week, but I am no longer sleeping and feel like this is par for the course at this point. We have another ultrasound on the 16th to see if the baby's vents have increased which they had during the last scan so we are hopeful for that. Not sure if you saw my post of the high risk doc we met with who mentioned down's and asked if I wanted an amnio at 33 weeks, which is not something we are opting for.
Anyway, I was so glad to read your post and hope things continue to go well for you.

catbertie - Friday, 3 October
Just wanted to say congratulations on a good scan today!

capegal - Thursday, 2 October
Hi Krissy,
I just read your update - congratulations!!!! I am so happy for you - it sounds like you had a great scan :) Hopefully you can enjoy these last couple of months of pregnancy.

cyndrn - Tuesday, 30 September
GOOD LUCK!!!

cameron*smama2b - Monday, 29 September
Just thought I'd share this... I absolutly love watching my tummy and seeing my baby move! He squirms all around and it makes my tummy look cool. I can't believe there's a little person in there! :)

rachyg - Monday, 29 September
Hello, I would like to say thank you for the advise you gave me in regards to my blog about consolidating my bills. We do have enough equtity in the house to get the loan, but its always a scary time when you apply, I always think "just in case" We have been very careful and have done our homework as we defiantly do not want to get caught up with the loan sharks. Thank you. you have been very kind. baby dust to you xoxox

Kitty210704 - Friday, 26 September
I guess since I havent heard anything from my Glucose test I must not have GD. Its been just over a week! Whoo hoo!

I hope all is well with you

cameron*smama2b - Thursday, 25 September
So....everything went well, except my doctor said I have to increase my fluid intake. I guess the normal is 10 and I came out being 9.4. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

KelliMG (Spunky) - Tuesday, 23 September
Krissy...I'm just glad to know your alright....after a bit of not hearing from our most vocal of gals...I start to worry!!! I totally understand the busy part of life.

My Mom and I are working on my shower as well. I spent Sunday at her house....2 hours almost just trying to get the printer to print the invites the way we liked them....once we got it all figured out, it was just time to print them (one by one)....all 93 of them so far!!!!LOL

Now I just have to print off the Babies R Us things (registry cards) to put in them, and a map to the place where it's at, and we can get them sealed, stamped and out!!!! My mom's already made up the mailing list and is ready to print the address labels off. The favors will be on my list of to do's closer to the day (found little bottles and we're filling them with mints a chocolates and decorating the outsides).....still need to get the name tags (with over 90 people, it'll be a must for this pregger brain, as half of them are friends and coworkers of my Mom)!!! But most of the "stuff" has been purchased already (plates, napkins, table stuff, decorations)....the cake we'll order the week before, and the food...well the menu is planned (it's a luncheon as well)....but we're ordering sandwhich trays and drummies!!!

Man....I'm tired again just thinking about that part of it!!!LOL, since I'm actually making 5 different dishes for the shower!!!!

Hope things go well for you soon......
