Believe

When you come to the edge of all the light you know,

And are about to step off into the darkness of the unknown,

Faith is knowing one of two things will happen:

There will be something solid to stand on ......or you will be taught how to fly.

Ok Ladies....this is my first pregnancy and of course my husband and I are extremely happy. Because everything's so new to us, we don't know what to expect and everyday seems to be a challenge to keep our sanity in check. Besides the "common" bleeding, nausea, migraines, back aches, etc., our main concern is that our baby is healthy and that everything's going well in there. :)

Based on what we know, my husband's family is pretty much healthy. My family on the other hand has many "things" going on. In my case specifically, I'm a rare case of spinal cord tumors -had 3 benign ones so far of different types, had radiation for 1 tumor, and I also have Chiari.

Regarding the tumors, I've been tested for NF1 and NF2 and was negative. Docs have no clue of the reason for the tumors.

Regarding the Chiari, which basically are tonsils sticking out of the cerebellum -low portion of the skull, I have a mild case of Chiari that causes however migraines and pressure in my skull. (What can I do...my brain is bigger than my skull ;)

So ....for the above mentioned reasons, I've been now tested for mutated chromosomes. Hopefully, I will not have any so the chances of my baby having any mutated ones "decreases."

Oh well.....I guess I'll have to put my faith in God's hands and pray that everything goes well. *crossing fingers*

Ciao

I didn't want to start a war either, but I really think that most of our population blindly follows what our government and their doctors say without thinking for themselves. My husband is a chiropractor so we do everything as naturally as we can. We actually look to Europe as more advanced than the US with regards to how you approach health care and food. The food quality in Europe is so much better than here. They just feed us crap and I just heard the FDA just approved radiation of our spinach and lettuce. The same body who approves vaccines that have not been proven to work or not cause harm. If you look at the ingredient list in most vaccines, you would be shocked. Most of the mercury has been removed, but most still contain fermeldahyde (a know carcinogen) and other scary stuff. The symptoms of Autism are exactly the same as mercury poison, and that is exactly what the CDC was doing by letting the drug companies put Thermerasol in vaccines. Giving our kids mercury poison. All the info is out there, you just have to search for it. Sorry about the sermon. Best of luck to you. Ciao!

I just saw your reply about your friend! Poor guy!!! Sounds horrible!

Hey! Hope everyone is feeling great! My prince is already 1lb8oz! I'm 24 weeks. I scheduled my maternity tour with the hospital. They also offer 3 prenatal lectures, that I'm considering taking. Has or is anyone going to do that? Couldn't hurt, I guess. I don't know if I want to take Lamaze.. what's everyone's take on that? :)

You can postpone the vaccines for quite a while. It only becomes an issue when you want to enroll you child in kindergarten (or maybe some preschools/daycares). I'm assuming you won't be enrolling your kind in anything before 6 months, so feel free to wait. :)

I'm not sure how long you have been in the US, but our vaccinations are out of control. So is autism and other serious health problems in children. The CDC has ramped up the number of vaxs and combined them without proper studies. You can get info on the CDC website as to the vaccine schedule. The schedule is not mandatory and the new trend is to delay and be very selective about which vaxs to give your child. After readying "The Sanctity of the Human Blood", I am choosing not to vax at all. Jenny McCarthy is campaigning for fewer vaxs and greener vaccines, I'm sure you could find some info by looking on line. The Cafe Mom group I belong to has tons of great info as well, just look for the no vax group and you will see links to all kinds of vax info. I hope this helps.

His shoes are just too too cute. I am shoe crazy and own about 60 pairs myself, and that's me cutting back on the shoe purchasing! My little boy is due in 4 weeks and already owns around 10 pairs, my husband isn't happy but I just can't help it. I think I need counseling!!

Hi Krissy. I'm just guessing here, since I'm a first-timer too, but I think doctors may start early with vaccines because of daycare. If you are going to put your little one in daycare, they are usually allowed to start at 6 weeks and vaccines are generally required. All in all, it's really up to you and your hubby as to what's best for your baby.

Thanks for the good thoughts--my babies kidney dilation has increased slightly originally they were 6mm and 7mm--and stayed that way for some time 10 wks or so---then last week we were told they are actually 8mm and 9mm --and one is actually called hydronephrosis not just pylectasis--but the neonatologist said it is still in that "borderline usually no intervention range, they will just need to be monitored". Over 10mm usually they do long term, low dose antibotics to prevent UTI's. Most don't need surgical intervention.I too wish you well--and would be less concerned with the 11mm vents as they are just out of normal---good luck----take care

An amusing series of messages :) Well, when we had DD, I felt lousy for 38 weeks, so we had a pretty quiet bedroom. When there are big stresses, how can there be room for romantic thoughts? You guys have been jerked around, had the most important project of your lifetimes threatened--What's stimulating about that? I hope you find yourselves able to relax now that you have good medical reports and you can let yourselves focus on each other a bit. And if it's not in a physical way, well, there are lots of other very good ways to focus on a loved one. I wore a short cotton nightgown last time, and it covered my belly--That was great, b/c the previous time, I didn't, and every time I looked down, I got quite distracted by my big roundness and had to remind myself that the big round thing wasn't ME, but some other person hiding out in the middle, etc. It wasn't planned that way, but the night gown really took my mind off of it.

No excuses. You don't need them. It's your baby and you're buying things for him. Slap down the credit cards and let the good times roll, Kris.

Me? I'm so tired! I am finding that I really need to lie down and rest each afternoon. The good days are the days that I actually give in and DO it. Meanwhile, shopping, I can not find a proper anniv gift for DH. It's our 10th next Thurs, and I've been stumped thinking about it for months. He told me his surprise today, so I wouldn't flip out next week when he sprung it on me: We're going back to our honeymoon site for a 4 day vacation. I think this is extremely thoughtful and beyond anything I'd have imagined or hoped for. He told me today so I'd have time to buy dresses b/c he has already made dinner reservations for each night. Meanwhile, I still can't think of ANYthing!

OK, and then this is crazy and possibly TMI: This morning, we were intimate, and then immediately afterward I had one very sexy (of course it was sexy) hiccup, and the hiccup actually strained my abdominal muscles. Nothing we had done just prior to the hiccup was an issue, but that hiccup--that was just the last straw! I still can't even believe it. Feeling better now than in the morning, in the tummy anyway.

Ooooh that's fantastic news!! Made my day! I'm so happy for you and baby Matteo (great name by the way!) Have a great day and talk to you soon! :) xo

Yes, the belt helped me ALOT. I was having ALOT of back problems and the belt was almost like it lifted up my stomach and put the presssure on the growing belly somewhere else. I don't know where, but I didn't care. I was so much more comfy!! You'll notice a HUGE difference as well!! Best of luck to you!

marinewife8412 - Friday, 15 August
Just wanted to respond and let you know that I have a maternity belt in a size S. I think it's a size 6-8 when not pregnant. I got it at Babies R Us. You are more then welcome too it.

Hi there, thanks for your response on the board. I will give that dr. a piece of mind when I've had the baby, but will leave it for now. I am just fed up with hospitals and want as little to do with them as possible for now. You good luck too for the coming weeks, don't forget to enjoy too ;)). Keep you posted.

You know, you're the first person of my generation that I've ever heard say they crave octopus salad! It was a part of our family's Christmas Eve tradition. I'd always try it, almost every year, but I never did develop a taste for it. Pulpo...I can still remember the smell when I'd open up the fridge--The leftovers would fill the fridge with that scent. Well...You can wait till Christmas, right? Or vacation, really soon, somewhere with cleaner waters. hmmm...

mariettap - Thursday, 14 August
I mean, it's not as fishy as actual tuna, so if you're craving hardcore for tuna, you might be left disappointed. But I feel great never thinking twice about the mercury. I think I might even like it better than tuna.
