August 22, 2008

It's a boy! Chase Michael is here. He arrived at 7:09 pm on Friday, August 22nd. He weighed in at 8 lbs, 13 ounces and 21 inches long. He was a big boy!

His birth story is under his profile. :-)

February 2008

Hi! I'm Kristin. My husband and I are expecting our first baby. We were married June 8, 2007 and were planning on trying to get pregnant this spring - but to our surprise, it was easier than we thought! It is such a blessing it happened this way - I feel like it was fate. We are both very excited about being parents and can `t wait. I am the first of most my friends to have a baby and I found everyone on this site so helpful, supportive and wonderful. Thank you all! :-)

I'm with the last girl, when you get this far along, you are hoping for them to check your cervix!! Just like this past Friday my cervix was soft but i'm not dilated, so when I go this Friday, there's a good chance i'll be dilated and ready to go!! they aren't that bad. good luck

The internals arent bad I have had probably 5. you dont hfave to get them if you dont want to but usually when you get to about our stage (ready to pop) you are asking for one!! haha. Once you get to the week that we are in and everyone is saying that they are so much dialated and effaced and there doc told them when they think that they will pop--yoiu start to wonder how progressed you are. They are about as much fun as a gyno appt only cause you are exposed but by the time you are this far in your pregnancy you wont care--and if you do you wont by the time you deliver--everyone and thier momma will look 'down there'.

All that ur doc does is have you undress waist down and they put a sheet or whatever on you--they he puts gel on two fingers and feels around. It was weird at first but now it is just routine. He doesnt look down there or study do it isnt too bad. I wouldnt let this stress you out--I am a very shy person and this is my first baby so everything is 'invading' to me--but you get used to it. Good luck on your pregnancy. Haley

honestly internals arent that bad,...when you go and get your annual check up and they stick that duckbilled cold metal thing up there, thats worse!!! I would take an internal over that ANY DAY!!! I am 37 weeks and have had 3 internals...and I'll be having one tomorrow too!! If you really really dont feel comfortable, then I am sure you can wait til you are in the hospital...but but like I said, internals aren't that bad...and remember you are going to have a baby...if it comes out that way, that'll hurt more than a dr sticking his/her hand up there!!

Jo-Mama - Monday, 24 Mar
I have never had an internal and my baby is due in a week. It seems like a lot of doctors do them near the end to see how you're progressing, but it's not necessary at all. In fact, some believe that they are harmful because it increases your chance of infection. Personally, if I was offered them I wouldn't take them. I find that it can make people obsess over the details and it makes waiting that much harder. You can tell your doctor not to do them if you don't want them.

Hi there! You have the right to refuse any medical procedure/test you don't feel comfortable having done. We do homebirths with a midwife, and she doesn't check me until she comes to the house when I'm in labor. Good luck!

Godblessmybaby - Monday, 24 Mar
no they dont check every week onwards from week 34, they check from like 36 weeks, cause internals can bring on pre term labour sometimes, im 37 week and i havent had and internal as yet to see if im dialated my doc will check this saturday

janamoo - Monday, 24 Mar
i was kindof worried about having internals done too, until i got to the point where they started. i want to know whats goin on in there! its reassuring to know that all this 'miserableness' is actually moving things along! good luck!

christinefrostine - Monday, 24 Mar
My doctor did one at 37 weeks only because she was going to be out of town for a week and wanted to see how I was progressing before she left. I haven't had one since then. The past two times I was at the doctor and she asked if I wanted to be checked and I just say no. There is really no point in knowing, the baby will come when it wants to :)

Alyssa2787 - Monday, 24 Mar
Hey there. Internals arent that bad. However, most of the time you can request not to have them done and the doctor should respect that. I kinda like getting them just to know if I had made any improvement. Everyone has their opinions, just do what you are comfortable with and stand firm in your decision. :) it will be ok.

staceyweston - Monday, 24 Mar
Hello! I am due in 2 days and have not received an internal yet. It depends on your doctor/midwife. Mine feels that they are of no benefit as long as everything is going well - since to check for dialation still does not give an accurate perdiction of when the baby will be born...so why disturb? Some doctors do do them every week once you get close to the end - but mine will not do one until I am overdue. At that point it's a lot like what happends during an anual physical - they use the instrument to 'open' you a bit and then feel to see what the cervix is like - soft, hard, closed, open. Hope this helps!

whitneyc - Monday, 24 Mar
Internals are not bad at all. I was actually very nervous about having them, but once I did, it wasn't even a big deal! It also gave me peace of mind knowing how much I was dilated and effaced. It just gives me peace of mind. My doctor didn't do them until 36 weeks, and I think that's about the time most start. The first time he did one, it was a bit uncomfortable but it didn't make me flinch. The ones after that have been a breeze. Having a speculum inserted during a pap smear is 100x worse to me than an internal with just a few fingers!

I work in a school and found that when I get home at 4 I take an hour crash out nap and that has helped both my fatigue and moodiness. My husband has learned to leave me alone during this time and to not let me sleep more than an hour, so I can sleep at night. I would recommend this if you can fit it into your schedule!

Hey, I was just stopping by! Cute wedding photo! Are you feeling emotional? (I saw comments) I am feeling that way too..I hoping it will pass soon :) Feeling better today?

JoAnneMichelle - Tuesday, 18 Mar
I was just thinking the same thing. I feel like I always have a short fuse. Like the smallest things just make me angry or sad - my road rage is now horrible, and I dont like being with my friends cuz they make me mad.

jettsmomma - Tuesday, 18 Mar
I felt exactly like you do, but after giving birth to my first child. I would cry for no reason and friends and family irritated me to no end. It is the rush of hormones that are surging through your body. Talk to your doctor about what you are feeling and hopefully they can give you some advice or recommend something like exercise or journal writing, etc. Good Luck!

I just wanted to check..did you get that list I sent you? Hope all is going well!! Patrice

jrenee - Wednesday, 12 Mar
Hi Kristin14. Wow, what a gorgeous wedding photo. I enjoyed your response - you made me feel a lot better, and today I am wearing maternity pants for the first time. You were so right, I am so much more comfortable, and oddly enough - don't feel as fat as I did in regular clothes. I think I'm starting to show too and yesterday afternoon, I felt a kick. It totally made my day. : )

2andfnu - Saturday, 8 Mar
It was hard picking a name and I spent hours making lists, onlline, and in books. I am glad that the decision is made, it is hard work!!!You have some awesome choices on your list, so you can't go wrong!!!

2andfnu - Saturday, 8 Mar
I just voted on your names and am from week 33. I am also named Kristin, spelled the same as you!!! also, I had a lot of the same names on my list! I am having a boy but if it were to be a girl she would have been named Erin Elizabeth. Good luck and take care of yourself!!

pjs1071 - Wednesday, 5 Mar
I sent the list today, i hope you find it helpful...

cjmc2577 - Tuesday, 4 Mar
thank you!

jesstew - Tuesday, 4 Mar
I scanned them from home, put them on photobucket and took the code from that site and pasted into the 'edit' part of the page. In there there is a specific button for pasting pictures. It took me a minute to figure it out. Once I got it on here I had to resize it too casuse it was huge.

jesstew - Tuesday, 4 Mar
Your welcome. I love motherhood maternity too, but have also found great work pants at JC Penny. I got two pairs for 50 bucks. And I agree with jobean; try them on!!! Not all are created equal;) Good luck and have fun.

pjs1071 - Monday, 3 Mar
