Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

I was in the NICU when I was a baby... I was 3 lbs 8 oz, and went down to 3 pounds. It took me quite a while to get to 4 pounds so I could go home, but i did, and now i'm having my own baby. So I'm sure your little girl will be fine. How much did she weigh at birth? Is she progressing well? I'm sorry you have to go through this. I don't have any firsthand advice, but we're all here for you if you need support.

Congrats on your new baby girl! God bless her and hope she gets to go home soon...

Hang in there it want last forever!! I may be put on bedrest soon, I had a doctors appt this morning and found out that I have dropped already and the baby is getting into position. They ordered a ultra sound for next week to see what he weighs and what position he is in. I'm only in week 30 but because I'm high risk they was going to induce me at 38 weeks but now the doctor thinks he may be coming sooner! I'm getting really nervous now its so close!! Get some rest ( I know your sick of hearing that) and take care!!!

kathy24 - Friday, 13 June
I will keep my fingers crossed that you can make it to week 34 that would be much better for the baby anyways! I was 21 years old when I had my first son and had preeclampsia they put me on total bedrest and I wouldn't do it I would get bored so I would go shopping which made me swell more. This time around I'm older and I know better to listen to the doctor and how serious preeclampsia can be! I'm high risk so I have been on partial bedrest! Take it easy and be sure to get alot of rest!!!

My blood pressure is going up and down too. Yesterday it went from 140/100 to normal ranges after getting sent to LDR for monitoring. Its sooo weird. I had no protein though. Wow, you must have a pretty bad case of it. Thats scary. I think a c-section is best just so you don't put your health at risk. It sounds like they have you pretty well monitored which is really good. A friend of mine had it and wasnt monitored and they never caught it until it turned into HELLP syndrome and she almost died. 37 weeks is still a long way away. Are they delivering you in 2 weeks then?

kathy24 - Thursday, 12 June
He did catch up fast but for 4 weeks early he still weighed 5# 15oz which wasn't to small for 4 weeks early. They scared me so bad though because they keep telling me how behind he would be and that he would be smaller, today you could never tell that he was a preemie, he is shorter then alot of other boys his age but he got that from genetics! He had to stay in the hospital for 2 extra days after I got to go home I had a hard time with that and he couldn't be in my room with at the hospital they had him in the nic unit. I felt so cheated when I had him I didn't get to hold him much because of all the tubes hooked up to him and you had to go to the nic unit. Of course that was 16 years ago so things have changed so much today! When do they think you will have your baby? I hope not to early!!

Hi there, I had preeclampsia with my first son and he was born 4 weeks early! I know how miserable you are feeling right now. I had so much swelling it is just awful. So far this pregnancy I'm doing pretty good although the last 2 weeks my blood pressure was high but no protein in my urine! Take it easy and get alst of rest!!!

Hi - I just read your post - I'm so sorry! I'm sure everything will be fine. There's a show on TLC called "Deliver Me" - it's actually really good. And last night they had numerous women with pre-eclampsia and it is very serious, they don't mess around with it, but they delivered their baby's early (one at like 27 weeks) and they were all fine. I'm sure you and your little one will be great! Take care of yourself. :-)

Hi there. I am wondering what your first signs of preeclampsia were. I am being diagnosed with hypertension but my symptoms, though not always at the same time are more like preeclampsia. Last week I was seeing flashes of light, went to the dr. and had high blood pressure, they sent me to LDR for monitoring and then home on bed rest a couple days. Then I went to the dr. Thursday and had protein in my urine so they had me do a 24 hour urine test but they haven't called me back to tell me anything so it must have came out fine but I am back at work now and concerned it will get overlooked. I'm getting the headaches, the sleepyness, etc. The problem is that my BP isnt ALWAYS high which is weird but I still think that these issues are important.

Wow, two weeks and they are delivering your little one? In a way its exciting but you hate to see them born before they are ready. Are they making you deliver via c-section? Are you officially taken off work and on bed rest? How are you feeling? I hope you and your little one are well. It is definitely best to deliver him/her before things get more serious. Keep faith and I will definitely be praying that all is well.

Aw honey...try not to worry...it will do your BP no good!...and the weight is all water and will drop off right away...I was the same in the last 6 weeks I gained over 30lbs....the problem with that was that the body can't keep up...my tummy muscles separated totally and were sitting around about my sides...they gave me excersises to do afterwards but I admit I wasn't very good at them...then when I got PG 2 years later they hadn't healed so I carried my baby with my back only...no tummy support at all...had to wear a special belt...and now my back is permanantly damaged!...so if you get sent to physio or given excersises after delivery then please take my advice and do them!

Have faith in the Doctors...they know what they are doing...this is actually quite common in first time PG...I think maybe 1/10...I know that won't ease your mind but it will all work out fine in the end...just relax and take it easy!...hey at least you won't be one of us poor sods that goes way past our dates into sheer torture-land...and you will get to meet your precious little girl soon...yay!...xxxx

Hi there Kyliesmommy, Welcome to the site!...sawyour post about pre-eclampsia...I had it with my first but not til much later on.....High blood pressure/protein in my urine/nasty swelling/ migraines and the occassional flashing lights....It is most common in first time pregnancies.....or pregnancies with a new father...
I'm sorry to hear that you have it...your doctor will be watching you very closely to monitor your symptoms....if they decide to induce you early it will be for the right reasons...it can suddenly become very dangerous......but you are far enough on now that with some special care you and your baby should be absolutely fine.....I wish you lots of luck with the rest of your pregnancy and remember to call them immediately if you think you have taken a turn for the worse.....xxxxxxxxx
