~*July 17, 2008*~ Today I am 33 weeks. I had my baby shower this past weekend, July 13th, and it was really nice. I wanted to update with some photos of Abigail's nursery and a few pictures from the shower!
The Nursery:
Baby Shower:
Me by the games and favors table
Her 3D autograph photo
Food!
My cute umbrella cake
Presents!
My hostess
My favorite present
~*June 28, 2008*~ Today we had our free week 30 ultrasound in 3D. She was so wiggly the entire time but we managed to get some good shots of her face rubbing, sleeping (at one point), and thumb sucking. We also got a B&W image of her foot up above her head/face, where it was one of the time! Gymnast! Her little cheeks and fingers have gotten chubbier. These are some of my favorites:
My little snuggly bunny
Hand up to her face
Hand covering her face, she had enough..
Her foot above her head!
Thumb sucking
Contemplating something!
Chubby fingers!

~*June 13, 2008*~ Well, happy Friday the 13th to me. I had my week 28 doctor visit. It was NOT fun. The glucose orange drink, which everyone said tasted like Sunkist, in fact did NOT. It was nasty. Even worse I had to chug it in 3 minutes. It was so early in the morning and so much sugar I almost got sick. I PRAY I do not have to do the 3 hour test. Then I had to have my finger pricked for my iron level check. For some reason it bled like crazy and still throbbed 2 hours later. After the drink processed and I filled out pre registration paperwork for the hospital, I had 2 vials of blood taken for the glucose test. My arm is so sore and bruised right now. Last but not least I had to have a shot for the Rh Negative issue. It hurt and burned... was right about my bum too. Awesome. The only plus to my visit is I am 3 pounds under weight. YES! I don't have to worry about a diet..... yet. Now I start seeing the doctor every 2 weeks. We're moving now. I thought I would do a comparison photo since I took a recent one today.
Week 28:
Week 12:
~*June 5, 2008*~ I am now in week 27 and we had our 3D ultrasound today. It was SO worth it. I highly recommend it to anyone on the fence. Even cooler, I got invited back in 3 weeks for free because she is training her friend to take over because she is also having a baby soon! So, I get a free 3D! It was the NICEST facility. So comfortable and beautifully set up and the girl was so super nice and she spent almost 40 minutes with us! We got a DVD of the entire session, pictures on CD, as well as 8 print outs. We got some neat 4D streaming shots of her smiling, waving, thumb sucking, and snuggling. She has the cutest nose and lips... she is perfect. We even got a 2D gender shot where you can clearly see the "hamburger"... girl all the way.
Here are two of my favorite shots, the rest can be found in my photos section.
Smiling!
Thumb sucker!
I am in love :)
~*April 24, 2008*~ Well, I had my week 21 doctor appointment today. It went great except I gained 10 pounds, UGH!... so.... to mark the occasion of everything going well and my lovely weight gain I decided to add week 21 belly photos! It could be worse, right??
~*April 22, 2008*~ Well, on Thursday I go for my week 21 check up. Hopefully I will get to hear her little heart beat again. In other news, her daddy made her the sweetest picture, I just wanted to share.
A daddy's girl already. :-)
~*April 15, 2008*~ These photos were taken from my 19 week ultrasound about a week ago. She had her little hand up to the side of her face most of the time as you will notice from my illustrations. :)
~*April 07, 2008*~ Well, I had my 18 week ultrasound today. Of course the tech seems to
think I am 19 weeks. I am NOT complaining there! My mom, husband, and
best friend went. The baby was so active. Had hand up to the face
almost the whole time, it was so cute... and perfectly healthy. Oh
and............
And I updated my baby names list, please re vote! :)
~*March 27,2008*~ Last night I had a dream we got the AFP test results back (baby abnormalities such as Down Syndrome, etc) and it was positive. I woke up so scared I went to check my cell phone. Sure enough, my nurse had called me with the results... they all came back... NEGATIVE! I feel so relieved!! Whew... just 11 more days until we try to find out the gender! :O
~*March 24, 2008*~ Today I had my 16 week doctor's appointment and for the first time we got to hear the baby's heart beat! It was indescribable. My eyes watered, I couldn't help it. 154 beats per minute, nice and strong. We also did the testing for down syndrome and other abnormalities. We will get the results for that on Friday.
Also, April 7th at 10am I have an ultrasound appointment where we will hopefully find out the gender! I am so excited... it is only two weeks away. I feel so relieved and happy.
About 5 minutes ago I felt VERY large movement. It startled me a LOT! It was one HUGE kick... I say huge because all I have felt the past few days are tiny little pulses. This felt like one HUGE pulse in my lower stomach. It scared me quite a lot! Not something I am used to feeling!!
~*March 22, 2008*~ I feel huge today...
~*March 19, 2008*~ I saw this in someone else's blog and thought it looked fun!

~*March 17, 2008*~ Happy St. Patrick's Day! My baby did a little Irish dance for me this morning!! I woke up, sat up for a minute... decided I was still tired so I laid back down on my left side. Well, I guess I woke the little baby up because for a brief few seconds I felt some flutters in my tummy... almost like butterflies flying around, and then it was gone! Aw.. :D
~*March 16, 2008*~ Hi
everyone! I am currently 15 weeks and 3 days pregnant. I hope to
schedule an ultrasound for my 18th week in hopes to find out the sex of
our baby! I have been married for only 6 months but have been with my
husband for almost 4 years. My pregnancy started out rocky but things
have been going good for the past two weeks. I will be relieved at my
next visit on March 24th when we can listen to the heartbeat!
erikavb - Tuesday, 22 July how do you think they will do when alternating with the breast? im planning on doing both. i really need a bottle that kinda off feels like a real nipple? what do you think?
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July Thank you so much! I think I'll pass on the Avent, and use Dr. Brown's if they can go in the dishwasher. How many bottles did you get...I just want to make sure I have enough so I'm not constantly cleaning them.
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July Thank you so much! I guess Avent is out of the question, I'd just rather not even bother with something that is potentially that horrible! Not excited about all the little parts to clean and keep track of, though.
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July You are very welcome...all the best to you and your baby
irishbaby1 - Tuesday, 22 July Thanks very much - he is an absolute star. I found everything so difficult for the first 6 weeks but it suddenly just seems to get a little bit easier everyday and then becomes sooo enjoyable when they start to react - and the first smile is just unbelievable :o) It is such a difficult decision I so agree! Here in UK is probably different in terms of formula - I use Cow and Gate and it seems to work well I am not sure if you guys have the same. Yes, breastfeeding doesn't keep them fuill for as long. I had to feed evey 2 hours to start with for about the first 4 weeks, but I exprssed so my DH was able to do a late feed which meant I was able to go to bed and get 4 solid hours sleep before the next. It really is a difficult choice to make, but the way I saw it was that if I try breastfeeding and it doesn't work then at least I tried and I can always go on to formula - AND no matter what ANYONE says, you can do the two if you want. We did when I started having trouble at 6 weeks and introduced him to formula but kept breastfeeding. You could always breastfeed and then if she is still crying at the end give some formula to see if that helps her appetite?
In terms of knowinf if they get enough - thats a diifuclt one too. Watch the way she feeds. You should see her jaw move move as well as hear a sucking noise. The way I was taught was to look in a mirror at myself, and then look at how I was just doing a sucking movement as opposed to sucking and then swallowing. Diifcult to describe sorry! I just found that eventually he was just suckingby the end of the feed and not swallowing and then came off the breast and started crying unlike before when he would be swallowing and didn't cry at the end of a feed.
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July Awww, hun...don't feel bad about not breastfeeding! Every mom has to do what is right for her situation. This is my 5th baby, I nursed all 4 of my other babies, but they had trouble growing because I am not a good milk producer. I'm just not going to attempt it this time. Lots of mom's formula feed, they aren't all breastfeeding.
I think you should buy the best formula that you can AFFORD. You will be buying it all the time, and will go through a ton. If you were going to go with Enfamil, then a good option is the Target brand. Some of the spendier formulas will break your bank in no time...why do that to yourself when you can get it for less and it's just as good? I will go with a middle-of-the-road brand (price wise), because I don't ever see the need to buy the MOST expensive of something. Especially now, with so many people who are struggling just to pay bills, who has extra $$$$$ floating around to buy the most expensive formula? They are mostly the same, anyway!
irishbaby1 - Tuesday, 22 July No problem. The hospital were happy not to give me anything to stop the labour progressing at 37 weeks as they knew he would be big enough to survive. I am happy he was born earlier rather than later :o) In terms of feeding - after giving birth no question is too personal - lol so I am happy to answer. I wanted to trying feeding him myself just because it is apparently better for them. After 6 weeks I was just not producing enough to keep up with demand so I went on to formula and he took to it very well. I say, you just do whateve feels right for you. If you want to try feeding him yourself - go for it. If you would prefer bottle feeding then that is still great for baby as it has all the nutrients baby needs. Just do what is right for you. The one advantage of feeding yourself is not having to mess around with bottles, sterlising everytihng and remembering to boil and cool water all the time,. breastfeeding can be very hard work and demanding of your time and energy, but I am glad I tried it and it helps your uterus contract and with weight loss too (from my own selfish point of view - lol)
irishbaby1 - Tuesday, 22 July Ooh all those symptoms are sounding so familiar - I remember them well and so horrible for you too - hope you're not too uncomfortable. Gaviscon and milk were the only things I could use to help. I started having BH around week 30 just very gently but got stronger as time went on. I went into labour at 37 weeks, but it was my waters that broke rather than feeling anything else so I am not sure about the BH side of things and noticing contractions. He was 5lbs 8oz at 37 weeks and perfectly healthy and well. I did take raspberry leave tea from week 32 which may have brought the birth forward, but for my next one I will wait until week 34 just to be on the safe side. Your nursery look sfab by the way
irishbaby1 - Tuesday, 22 July Thanks for letting me know - I have been so nervous about letting myself think it could be positive so hearing that is absolutely fantastic!!! Thanks so much for replying. If you have any questions about the last stages of pregnancy then I am more than happy to try and help - I'm no expert, but I know what you are experiencing. Hope all is well with you. Take Care.
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July Similac and Enfamil are spendy. Carnation is less, but is highly recommended. Target has an in house brand that contains the exact ingredients as Enfamil for a lot less. Just shop around. The hospitals give out whatever they have on hand from donations, usually it's Enfamil or Similac. The formulas contain so much of the same ingredients that it isn't going to affect your baby if you decide to change once you get home.
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July I think Carnation Good Start.
libbysmama - Tuesday, 22 July I've seen them at Walmart...no Babies R Us anywhere near us. I think I'll try that...thank you!
devonp - Tuesday, 22 July Yeah I don't know what I want to do. Its good your husband will support you with whatever you do. Bill keeps telling me and everyone I am breast feeding which kind of makes me mad. He is being a little funny about this whole having a baby thing. Like how I should be as a parent and it is kind of making me feel like he is controlling. All my friends seem to think its cute and that he just wants what is best for the baby. IDK
kah1675 - Monday, 21 July I hear ya there........ and use all the baby stuff. Have your breasts started leaking yet? Mine did today........crazy. Hope u r feeling well.
ediesmommy - Monday, 21 July Girl, it's not all it's cracked up to be!! It is our first child together (i have a 8 year old stepdaughter) and we both have big families. Plus I am from Oklahoma so that is why we are having so many showers as well. I had one with my in-laws, one with my family in Oklahoma and the last one will be at my job. If we could combine them we would have...TRUST ME!! I am very happy that you all got what you needed. That is a blessing!!
lukxyz294 - Monday, 21 July maybe try Ikea....they had a lot of kiddie/animal themed decors when i went last week.
ediesmommy - Monday, 21 July We will start on the nursery this weekend and I am very excited about it. My husband and his best friend are going to paint and put the furniture together. My girls and I will put the finishing touches on the room as far as decor next week or so! This is the best part if you ask me. I have one more shower to go with my job on next Saturday and I am so looking forward to it. It's a blessing having three showers, but it can be exhausting. I am with you on being tired.
ediesmommy - Monday, 21 July Well, it sure does look like you all put your heart into the nursery!! Very nice. Yeah, I can relate to the baby shower weight gain....I had my second one this past weekend and pigged out big time!! It was lovely though. I need to put updated pics on my page.
J9 - Saturday, 19 July your nursery is so cute!! you look very organized!! your shower looked lovely too! hope you're feeling well xx
