My Husband, Mike, and I have been married for 7 years March 3rd. This is our 3rd pregnancy, but our 1st successful one. It took me 6 months to become pregnant with this little Angel. We know it is a girl and have named her Shayla Elizabeth. We both love her so much already and she has a big family anxiously awaiting her arrival. I couldn't be more happy!

Our last trip before baby!

Braver times! Well for one of us anyway!

Our first baby pics @ 21 weeks...profile view with her little hand by her

head and the other with her hiding her face!

Shayla Elizabeth @ 32 weeks. At first being shy and then giving us a little peak!

Shayla @ 34 weeks. Still not letting us see everything, but she gave us a

sweet smile!

My big one I could feel from the outside before pregnancy. It felt like a softball. Now it is just out of control! The doctor told me he would give me a pic of it from the surgery. I know it is sick, but I want to see this thing after all the trouble it caused me! 2 of my smaller ones are in the neighborhood of 7 cm. they will probably be left behind in the surgery as the doc does not want to carve up my uterus. If yours really starts to bother you I am sure you can raise enough fuss to get it removed!

thanks for the comment-- I KNEW that there was a med out that can help me out. i called my doc and he said that there wasnt. i am glad that you gave me the name!! i called walgreens and asked them after i talked to my doc and they said there are a couple out to help me. i wonder why my doc wont prescribe it?? i am doing everything that he asks. i am pumping at work and home and eating healthy-- drinking ensure twice a day and drinking plenty of fluids. nothing is working. now he is on vacation untill next week. i will check out the website. thanks.

Hi - thanks for the message the other day. I love the name Shay, btw. I have a friend Shay who is from Saskatchewan!

nmck - Tuesday, 8 July
Hey! My biggest one is 17x25 cm. It is bigger than a football. It is outside my uterus connected by a very thick stalk. I knew I had it for a few years, and was afraid I might not be able to get pregnant but it was no problem. My pregnancy was quite difficult because of them though, and my son was born at 30 weeks. I have 2 others the size of softballs, but he will only remove them if he thinks it will not compromise my fertility. I do have discomfort during sex too. Can you feel yours from the outside?

Hi, I've been looking for the same reassurance you have and I have not found a single person say that their babies were really fussy after 3 or 4 months, we can only hope that it is the same for us.
Shay sounds sooo much like Maddi, she is not happy with anything most days for longer than 10 minutes and can go from smiling and happy to fussy for an hours or so.

I too am very worried that she will never be a happy pleasant baby. We are afriad to take her out most days because she will only tolerate being in the car for very long. We never go out to dinner, and I am afraid to leave her with anyone other than Grandma because she is so fussy. Have you tried completely cutting out milk? Her doc recommended that I try it for at least a week to see if it makes a difference. Today is my first official day of milk so we'll see. Maddi does have pretty bad reflux though, I guess it peaks at 3 months. She would not sleep for longer than an average of 40 minutes day or night without waking up screaming in pain, which was weird because she has slept through the night from 6 weeks on, so we new something was up. The doc gave her zantac and she seems to be doing a little better now.

Let me know how things are going and if you find any tricks!!

Jamison is the only baby I have had so I don't know what is normal and what is not but he will scream and cry and then go to a smile as well. He is pretty happy and chill for the most part but my mom says he has a temper When he decides he is upset about something he lets us know!!!!!!!

ABCMommy - Monday, 7 July
she sounds more like a colic baby, as the gas moves around it hurts and they cry for a moment and then stop, it's a soft "i don't feel good" cry that comes and goes. That's what my daughter does, she likes it best if i lay her across my lap on her belly and pat her back and sing softly. But I've also learned that she's lactose intolerant so she's better now....as long as I do NOT eat any dairy cause it goes through the milk and makes her fussy/colic again. good luck

thanks so much for your advice! one person told me she shouldn't be sleeping so long and i was like- WHAT??? yeah right! my dr. told me that he should sleep as long as he wants (like you said too) i'll try what you said about the napping to. i hope all is well! agin thanks:)

1blessedmomma - Friday, 4 July
Thanks for the reply. None of the other 3 threw tantrums this early on. My MIL says maybe he's got gas pains or something that's making him that upset.

marias1stbaby - Thursday, 3 July
Thank you for ur encouraging words..:)
I read your birth story, it sounded exactly like mine minus the fever...all that pain to end up in c-sections sucked.
ps. I don't go grocery shopping unless hubby is with me, i think i'm doing it to myself being scared at attempting things like the mall and stuff on my own..she's such a good baby, I don't know what my problem is.
ur baby is gorgeous...congrats!

breezee - Wednesday, 2 July
Thanks, I know it will get better eventually, sometimes it just seems like it will never happen. Maddi woke up every hour and a half last night so it's days like this it just seems really hard to deal with a fussy baby. Every time I think she is starting to get a little better she takes two steps back. I have experimented with what I am eating and have figured out I cannot do chocolate or red sauce(tomato's), other than that I haven't found much that I can link to fussiness. I hate wishing this time away beacuse they are so cute when they are this little.
Well, thanks, for letting me vent, sometimes it feels good just to talk about it. Take care, Bree

Hi
I know what you mean about breastfeeding being a pain. I am doing it too and the leaking at night on the bedsheets is driving me nuts. Even when I lay a towel down somehow I wake up feeling wet and yucky! The things we do for the ones we love...

manda21 - Monday, 30 June
I am experiencing the same thing with my friends. I was the first to have a baby, they have seen him enough times to count on one hand and he is three months old. Itis kind of lonely at times...my hubby works all day and I am home with the baby. I gave up on them and inviting friends over...i guess we will just continue to drift apart.

beautifulbebe - Monday, 30 June
Hey - just saw your post about your best friend. That really is not great. I must tell you that the exact same thing happened to me! My best friend came to visit the second day my baby was born while I was flailing about in the hospital. Then...nothing. In the meantime baby went to the hospital, etc. and I just didn't even feel like calling her because I figured that she ought to call me. Anyhow, five weeks into my baby's life, she calls and I tell her what happened (all stressed out still), and told her I had to go to tend to the baby. Since then, she has apologized in her way and she has come by twice. But, the friendship just isn't the same anymore. She too does not have kids and time is running out for her, so I suspect there are some issues there that come to the foreground every time she talks to me and sees me. Oh well, such is life. Someone explained to me: Yes, that's what being a mom is all about. And, I have to confess that I 'dropped' friends too when they started to have kids. So, in my case, I guess it's payback time. I am not too fussed about it anymore now. I just accept the situation. I can't do anything else.

michelle - Wednesday, 25 June
Yeh we seem to have the same problem shayla falls asleep in my arms or me rocking her in her bassinett which i know is a no no and about 20min later she'll wake up crying, which is fair enough since she fell asleep with rocking and woke up without it thinking 'why arent i being rocked still' Have u tried Putting her in a dark room with some background noise see if that works...I tried looking for the handouts they gave me so i can give u some ideas but i must of chucked them out. I remember they told me to put her down then walk away and just listen to her cry's if she is just winging just leave her but when it works up go in there and just go 'shhhhhhhh' and put your hand on her or you can pick her up but as soon as she stops crying put her back down... the trick is not to let them fall asleep just make them drowsy & walk out so they learn to self settle.... and you could do that a hundred times in and out but they do learn eventually, its hard just to tell you via text it be better if u had someone over there that could show you.Shes still young, im not too worried about it yet just try anything that works at the moment.

mom2boy - Wednesday, 25 June
Uh oh I hope it isn't thrush, I will check. Sometimes his tongue looks white but I think that is spit up and milk. If it is gas why all of a sudden after 3 months? I haven't introduced any new foods.

carlsonlove757 - Wednesday, 25 June
Well, I think it was the beginning of June that we started really trying to get her to sleep on her own. There were a few issues though. Like I said, the first thing was that she wouldn't even let me put her down to go to the bathroom, so I had to find some entertainment for her that she could use on her own, so we got a new mobile that played different songs and lasts about 5-15 minutes depending on if you use the light feature or not. It also has the lights that spin on the ceiling and that makes it turn off quicker. Then we got her a little mirror to put in her crib so she could look and talk to herself. She hates the swing and her bouncy seat so those were out of the question. I also got her a Baby Einstein DVD and I can put her in her little bouncy seat and she will watch that. So once I was able to put her down and keep her occupied without me being right there, I would watch her and when she got tired or just a little fussy and rub her eyes I knew it was time for bed. Usually I just leave her wherever she is and just give her a pacifier and she will go right to sleep. Sometimes I want her in her crib, so I will try to move her, but sometimes she will wake up and then I have to sooth her again in her crib. I also have a rocking chair and I will just rock with her for a while until she falls asleep and then I will put her in her bed. Have you tried rocking your daughter? When she was just newborn I would bounce her and walk around the living room and that was one of the only things that worked! Sometimes I would have to bounce her really hard!

So I would say every now and then she would fall asleep on her own and then in the very beginning of June is when we really started to get her to do it every night. There were nights when it was a little tough. Like when we would try to put her to bed before 11 or 12. She would not go to sleep! Those are the nights when we would just let her cry, but she is always asleep by mindnight. We are late night sleepers anyway, so this was not too big of a deal, but I know for lots of parents it's way too late. Now I can put her down around 9:30 or 10:30 and she will go to sleep.

I am sorry I am not much help with the day time naps! Like I said, my daughter only takes 2-3 20 -45 minutes a day. She isn't fussy though like you said your daughter is so it's not a big deal, I just don't get anything done until daddy gets home or she goes to bed at night. I do have a book that I read when she was first born called the 90 minute sleep program and it talks about how you should let your baby sleep whenever she is tired and not to wake them up. It says that after 90 min of being awake, they go into a sleep cycle and should sleep for 90 minutes or cycles of 90 minutes. If they miss there cue to go to sleep after 90 inutes of being awake, they may go into another 90 min awake cycle and will be fussy. It's really interesting, but with only 2 -3 naps a day, my daughter does not follow this program! I do let her sleep though whenever she is sleeping and I do not wake her. How are you getting her to sleep right now? Sorry to ramble, but I know how frustrating it is, and somethings got to work!

Jo-Mama - Tuesday, 24 June
In the No-Cry book she says that you should only do what you're comfortable with, so if you refuse to let your baby cry, then you don't have to. I just love how she lets you adapt the program to your own preferences. Malone is sleeping really well at night, so I only need to tweak her nap routines. I will start the strategies sometime in July. Not sure when, really.

Jo-Mama - Tuesday, 24 June
Malone sleeps really well at night too, but like your babe, she's not the best napper. But I am going to wait until 3 months to try any "techniques" and I refuse to let her cry it out at all. I have "The NO-Cry Sleep Solution" and I plan on trying those ideas out. I have friends who swear by that book.

carlsonlove757 - Tuesday, 24 June
Hi I just seen your post on the 2 month page. My daughter is going to be 3 months next week and I started the "crying it out" here and there around 2 months. My daughter was starting to become real spoiled and I would have to hold her all day and all night, so I had to let her scream for a while and I chose to have her scream at night. It seemed to help her sleep better b/c she would tire herself out. I would go in after 10 minutes and comfort her for about 1o minutes and then leave. Once she started to cry again I would begin the 10 minute cry countdown again. So she would cry for 10 minutes and then I would comfort her for 10 minutes. Sometimes this would go on for about an hour. I don't recommend it if you are not determined to have her sleeping on her own. That is why I did it, b/c like I said I couldn't put her down and I wasn't even able to go to the bathroom with out holding her. I know my daughter took naps for the first few weeks, but now she will only take about 2 or 3 20-45 minute naps during the day. She sleeps so good at night, so I don't push the nap issue during the day. I know that she should be sleeping more, but I am not going to fight with her to get her to sleep during the day. I just try to tire her out by a lot of interaction or stimulation and then I can tell when she gets tired and I give her a pacifier and she will go right to sleep. Anyway, I hope that you can make a decision and be comfortable with it. Like I said, I don't recommend the cry it out, unless you are fully ok with it. It is really hard and sometimes I would lay on the couch and just cry listening to her cry in her bed! Good luck and let me know what works for ya!

michelle - Tuesday, 24 June
Its a life saver, its free & goverment funded here and they have day stays or u can stay for a few days. They just show you ways of settling the baby and teach you the sleep, feed and play routine & to look out for the tired signs like rubbing eyes/yawning/jerky movements and put them down before they get to the over tired stage as they have more of a chance of self settling without you having to intervene.... How often does she breastfeed through the day? And does she fall asleep through the feeds? My shayla seems to breastfeed more through the day then night

erins1121 - Tuesday, 24 June
omg i know how you feel. I just wrote a posting about my baby screaming all day. NOTHING will help. Usually he likes the car, taking walks....NOTHING!! It makes me so upset. I think something may be bothering him. If you figure anything out PLEASE let me know. The dr said to give him tylenol and he will see him in the AM
