Week 38

It's almost over, it's almost over, YAY. We have decided that we are not sure about the babe's name so we are going to wait until we meet her. We are not making our choices public anymore, we want it to be a surprise. I am bigger than I have ever been, my feet are swollen, and I can hardly move. I know it will all be worth it, but seriously, I can hardly wait, and I know it's been hard for my husband to handle my wonderful attitude towards it all. Come baby come, come baby come come!!!!!!!

Week 28

Here we are at week 28... It's been a long pregnancy with all kinds of scares... First I had a short cervix and a low lying placenta which disappeared. Then we moved to FL and no OB would see me. Now, I am going to a high risk Dr. even though I am not high risk. I get poked and prodded constantly and one week I'll have high amniotic fluid (which disappears) and the next they think I have high blood pressure. All of these "high risk" precursors are no longer in existance, which makes me want to run back to my Dr. in Dallas and tell FL good bye forever.

The good news is, we are having a beautiful little girl and I know she will be perfect in every way. I can't wait to finally meet her on the outside. It's the home stretch and I am ready for this pregnancy to be over.

So glad to hear all is well with you and the little one!

leahsmom - Thursday, 15 May
I had polyhydramnios with my daughter, born March 20. It was discovered at a growth ultrasound at 33 weeks. I measured 45 cm from there until delivery with one amnioreduction around 35 weeks where they drained 1.5 Liters of fluid. I was concerned about her health, but ultrasound images of her digestive system and kidneys showed no abnormalities. She measured 6lb 9oz at 33 weeks and gained steadily from there. They induced at 39 weeks. It took 27 hours but I did have a successful vaginal delivery and Leah weighed 9lb 8oz at birth- healthy as could be.

The main problems with polyhydramnios is premature rupture of membranes (your uterus feels like it is stretched to full term) and cord compression or prolapse. The baby's head just bobs around in all that extra fluid and doesn't "plug" the cervix and as it begins to dilate. Especially if your water breaks, the cord can be swept through the cervix and compressed causing the baby's oxygen to be cut off. The doctors were very cautious with the induction and they can't be too aggressive with the pitocin or rupture your membranes until the baby's head drops. I guess some doctors would opt for a cesarean to avoid possible problems.

They will likely keep a very close watch on your pregnancy from here on. I went for biophysical profiles twice per week to be sure baby was doing well. Anyway, sorry I wrote you a book:) I hope this answered your questions. I wish you the best!!
