April 29, 2008:::: I am a 28 year-old first time mommy-to-be. Me and daddy are soooo excited. So much that we are worried that something will go wrong :( I found out I was pregnant April 24, 2008! The doctor put me at 5 weeks then, but I think she was going by the start of my last mp which was March 15th. Anyway, I was thrilled at the news. She did an ultrasound and we saw a little flicker of a heartbeat! :) She also tested my progesterone levels and said they were drifting so she put me on natural progesterone suppositories, once a day at bedtime. I have been spotting since the time I was suppose to come on period- not heavy or red, just brown and it comes and goes. No cramping or backache either. I was told that the spotting is ok and unless it becomes heavy and red and I start cramping then I should be ok. But because I am spotting a little, my doctor is taking precautionary measures. I am really hoping these suppositiories will help sustain my pregnancy. I've never been pregnant before and now I read all these stories on here about m/c's after 9 and 16 weeks and even further, and it's terrifying! I mean, to get to know the baby for all that time and share your joy with everyone, then lose it?...I just can't imagine....I know nothing can be done to really prevent a m/c, but I have put all of my faith and hope in GOD for the health of this baby and myself. I pray for the baby every night and thank God for him every morning. I talk to him, telling him to hang in there cuz people want to meet him. I love this baby so much already, I just can't bare the thought of losing it. So regardless of what the doctors say, I am faithful and I believe that God can work MIRACLES and this baby will be completely fine, so I look forward to seeing him (or her ;) in December; healthy and happy and beautiful!

May 6, 2008:::: I feel pregnant- all day sickness, moodswings, itchy nipples, tender, heavy breasts, and my pelvis is killing me! But I welcome all of it because I know that's a good sign! Since I've been on the progesterone, my levels have gone up and the spotting has stopped significantly. My doc's plan is to keep me on it until 10 weeks but I think I wanna go further than that. I still see spotting ocassionally, maybe once or twice every few days, but it's nothing like it was and I was told that was normal and as long as it's not heavy, red and accompanied by cramping, I should be fine, especially since my levels have gone up. I go back for my duedate and another checkup May 15th, but based on the start of my last mp, i-am-pregnant.com gave me a duedate of December 20th!

May 15, 2008:::: I'm sooooo happy to say that my appointment went well! That was thee LONGEST appointment ever! I felt like I was at an interview! LOL! At first she did the ultrasound where she tried to hear the baby's heartbeat (just by putting the little thingamajiggy on top of my stomach), but she couldn't hear anything. So I got nervous! She said it was normal not to hear anything this soon, but you know us moms-to-be- we worry about EVERY LITTLE THING, especially when I know there was a heartbeat at 5 weeks. So for my own peace of mind, I talked her into letting me get another vaginal ultrasound and she said ok (whewww!!!!) The US tech didn't even have to do it vaginally; we both were able to see the heartbeat and the baby and he (or she ;) is waaay bigger than they were at 5 weeks! I could even make out the head and body this time! She said I'm measuring at 8.5. weeks and my duedate is right where I thought- December 20th! I feel soooo much better knowing that everything is ok. My 12-week appointment is June 12th and I'm feeling much better knowing that baby is still in there, growing and floating around!

May 31, 2008:::: Well, thankfully, morning sickness has eased up alot. My breasts are still a little tender, mostly in the morning, and my nipples will start to itch if I slightly brush them against something, but for the most part, things are ok. I think I'm starting to ease out of the obsession of losing the baby and I'm happy that I'm a little more calm. I'm never completely worry free because it's only the start of week 11, but I've gotten a lot of reassurance from mommies-to-be on here and just continuing to have faith is making me stronger. I pray for the baby everyday and I'm sure they'll pull through JUST FINE! I have one more appt with my OB here in Milwaukee, then I'll be moving to Arlington to be with daddy :). That appt is on June 12 (just shy of 13 weeks) and I pray that all goes well and things are right where they should be. Oh, I stop taking the progesterone this week (Tuesday is the last day for it) and while I'm a little nervous about that, just hoping it doesn't interfere with the baby/placenta's development, I still have the same faith that I've always had. God bless!

JUNE 4, 2008:::: I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!! I HAVE TO GET ONE OF THOSE BABY HEART MONITOR THINGS SO I CAN HAVE PEACE OF MIND IN BETWEEN DOCTOR VISITS!!! SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME IT'S WORTH IT!!!!!

JUNE 12, 2008:::: Today was my 12-week appointment! Baby's heartbeat was 162 and all is well! I didn't get to do an ultrasound, I guess because there were no concerns; no bleeding or cramping for me. Doc did tell me that I need to drink more fluids and I lost 3 pounds! I can believe it because I really didn't have an appetite much, but I've noticed it picking up quite a bit lately so hopefully I'll gain back what I lost and add more as the pregnancy progresses. I invested in a heart doppler because I move to Texas next week which means I won't be able to see a doctor probably til next month, so the doppler will keep me in tune with the baby until I can get another appointment. Otherwise, I'm looking forward to successfully ending my 1st trimester and moving into the 2nd! I'll be 13 weeks Saturday! Woo hoo!!!

JULY 2, 2008:::: Well, I am officially a TEXAN! I am down here loving every bit of it! Daddy is taking good care of me and baby and I'm soaking up all of his AC! I will be 16 weeks (well, 4 months) on Saturday and this time seems to be going sooo fast! I keep complaining about not really showing or feeling the baby kick yet, but I know when it happens, it's gonna go by so quick so I'm just trying to savor every day of the pregnancy! Everytime I listen for the heartbeat, I hear the baby just moving around in there! All I can do is smile. Life is sooo good right now; GOD is so wonderful and everything that I have I am so thankful for. It's amazing what God can do for you if you just have a little faith! As for other baby news, I see a new doctor July 23rd and hopefully they'll give me an ultrasound so we can see what we're having. At almost 19 weeks, I'm sure you can tell by then. But for the most part, all is well! I'll be back soon!

July 23, 2008:::: I had my first appointment today with my doctor since relocating. A male OBGYN. Never had one and was very nervous but his nurse was nice and he was extremely nice and understanding. I was comfortable so I'm gonna stay with him. I declined all those screeings they offer; I hear too much about how what they say is 'possible' could or could not really happen and it just seems to add additional worry to the pregnancy. So I've decided to trust God the way I have all this time. At 5 weeks, I didn't even think my baby would make it this far, now here I am almost 5 months and God is still taking care of my little one, so I believe that my faith will continue to keep this baby safe and healthy. I find out what I'm having July 31st! At this point, a boy or girl doesn't matter, I just want them to tell me everything looks healthy and normal. Also, I felt movement! Well, I think I may have been feeling it for a while, but I never paid attention until I listened with the doppler- the same time I heard the baby moving, I felt it! From that point on I was able to tell when the baby was moving! I can't wait to feel more kicks!

July 31, 2008:::: THE BABY IS HEALTHY AND.......... MyHotComments.com
MyHotComments
We were hoping for a boy, but just to know she's healthy is good enough for us! We have NO names picked out for a girl, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Oh, the initials will be T.L.W. so keep that in mind! I'm so excited! I can finally start saying "she" instead of "it" or "baby". It was funny because the ultrasound tech said "it's a girl" and I said "no it's not" and then she opened her legs!!! LOL! It was kinda like she was saying "since you don't believe him, see for yourself!" LOL! She's got character ALREADY! :)

August 17, 2008::: I finally can say that I really feel true kicks and punches! It seems that at the start of 20 weeks, I started to feel more than just a flutter. It's AMAZING in every sense of the word! Sometimes, I can just look at my stomach and see her kick or punch! It kinda tickles! I LOVE IT! She seems to move more in the morning and at night, around 10pm, but then sleep allll day long....she's probably giving me a taste of what it's gonna be like when she gets here! Anyway, everything is going great with the pregnancy! I go to the doc for my monthly appointment on Wednesday. Hopefully he'll have all good news for me and baby girl! And no, we still don't have a name in mind! :( But we are hard at work thinking!

ABOUT YOU....

Name: Latasha, Tasha

Age: 28

Height: About 5'7"

ABOUT THE FATHER....

Name: Terry

Age: 30

Height: 6'3"

ABOUT YOUR PREGNANCY....

Is this your first pregnancy? Yes

When did you find out you were pregnant? April 24

How far along were you when you found out? 5 weeks

Was it planned? Well I won't say we we tried, but we didn't take any precautions either

What was you and the father's first reaction? He was thrilled; I was shocked at first, and then got happy

Who was with you when you found out? I was alone

Who was the first person you told? Terry

How did your parents react? Mom was surprised, but sad because I'm moving; dad was happy; biological dad still doesn't know

Who else did you tell? Just people close to me; we'll tell more people when I get further along

What was your first symptom? Spotting (when I usually flow pretty heavy); didn't feel sick until start of week 6

What is your duedate? December 20

Do you know the sex of the baby? No, but we want a boy

Have you picked out names? We know for sure the name will start with a T; a boy will be a Terry III. Not sure about a girl name

How much weight have you gained? Maybe a pound or 2

Do you have stretch marks? Yeah, but not from the baby! LOL! (I'm a little more on the "thick" side :)

Have you felt the baby move? Not yet; it's too soon. But my uterus does crazy stuff all the time!

Have you heard the heartbeat? I first saw it at 5 weeks; I heard it for the first time on my doppler at 12 weeks

Do you think you'll have a big baby? Based on the scales of me and daddy, we could very well push out a 9-pounder!

ABOUT THE BIRTH....

Home or Hospital: Hospital

Natural or Medicated: I'll attempt natural, but I don't like pain so I don't know

Who will be in the delivery room with you? Terry (maybe mom)

Will you breastfeed? Yes

Do you think you'll need a c-section? I hope not

Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time? I think it'll depend alot on daddy's reaction

What's the first thing you might say to him/her? "Hi baby!"

Would you let someone tape the birth? Sure, Terry can. Both of our families live in other states so what better way to share the experience!

The reason for my concern is that I have not had a haeartbeat yet! I'm off to the doctors in a few minutes and this is what she wants to see today. So I'm nervous because my levels didn't rise like "they should have". Only GOD knows. They did rise, which was a good thing, but there's always the worry. The worry never ends BTW :) Once that baby comes, us mommy's have a whole lifetime of worry. But it is soooo worth the happiness they bring :)

babybutler - Thursday, 12 June
thanks!

ldymana - Thursday, 12 June
Thanks for the kind words. The worry is normal. It doesn't matter if you have a history or not of problems, just remember if anything does not feel right - - call the doctor or go to the emergency room. It is better to be safe than sorry. I can't say that enough. Pregnancy is a very delicate state the entire way through. Yes - you should enjoy it, but also you know your body better than anyone else. If you feel out of sorts, get it checked out. Your intuition is better than any midwife or doctor.

I want a doppler, do you rent it?

CArmione - Thursday, 12 June
the heartrate for Nyah was always on the high side. The wives tale is that the higher the hr the more likely it is to be a girl...in my case, it just happened to be true. Those kinds of things are 50/50 in accuracy, but are fun to daydream about.
No idea for a girls name, huh? Well I am sure you will come up with something. I started the choices out by thinking of some of the names of my elder female relatives etc and when I ran out of those names I went to the database on here- and I finally got Nyah from that Nigerian Model on Janice Dickenson's modeling agency reality show...lol :) funny how we are inspired! The model's name is actually Nyabelle- we just changed it up a little and dropped the belle. Worked out good for us. I'm still trying to trace exactly where the name originated and hopefully I'll find something.
Another suggestion is to pick a name that has a specific meaning plus sounds good when you say it. I picked Devan because it means "My Joy", We picked Kendi for "Loved one" and Nyah for "Purpose". :)

I am waiting patiently for DHL to arrive!!!

lalabear - Thursday, 12 June
Hiya ! Just a quick note to see how u are doing ? All going okay ?

ldymana - Thursday, 12 June
Hi - Thanks for the post, my doctor has been doing ultra sounds each week to keep an eye on my cervix based on my history - I have had 2 premature pregnancies - my daughter at 32 weeks and my son at 22 weeks - my daughter was big enough and had no problems - my son passed after 35 minutes. With my daughter my water broke and I went through a normal labor. With my son, I did not have any pains or problems and that made the doctor want to keep checking to see if I have an incompetent cervix. I just don't know a lot about the procedure and am really nervous.

kinta - Thursday, 12 June
Well I tried again and this time i did it really low down and guess what! I HEARD IT! It was really faint though and it hard to get it clear over the sound of my own heartbeat, but i timed it and it was 168bpm, is that good? Its pretty much exactly double my own heart rate haha! It was such a relief! But the little thing must have moved because I lost it, I cant wait to try it when Im at my mums house (its REALLY noisy at my apartment, cars going past and buses!) so I can hear it really well I hope that it was my baby and not something else. haha. I cant wait to show my boyfriend!

wifeynmommy3 - Thursday, 12 June
No no no! Don't worry. You are doing GREAT!! The say once fetal heart tones are visable (6-7 wks) They usually don't go by bloodwork anymore. They start to decrease after about 10 wks anyway. Your two weeks past this point. Please don't let me worry you. God bless you and your precious baby. Let me know how things go. I have an appt. tomorrow too. Hoping to see the heartbeat.

kinta - Thursday, 12 June
I tried but i couldnt find the heart beat.
It says "No earlier than 12 weeks" and im not 12 weeks yet but I thought I might be lucky.

Its just made me worry more...
waste of money...

wifeynmommy3 - Wednesday, 11 June
HCG is the level that gives you a positive on your pregnancy test. They say it should double every 48 - 72 hours. Which means mine should be at least 11,000 +. Well, that's according to the books. I'm such an impatient person. I'm a girl who does NOT like surprises. That's what's killing me, is the waiting and just not knowing. I keep praying for the LORD to give me patience. That's all I can do.

ClaudiaO - Wednesday, 11 June
How exciting! I will try again tonite. I'll let you know if I hear anything...hehe.

CArmione - Wednesday, 11 June
Just checking in on you...seeing how you're doing. I'm ready to have this baby! well almost ready.

lisa0704 - Wednesday, 11 June
Thank you so much I ordered one today. Glad to know that it is working for you, can't wait to get mine.

Jacks1 - Wednesday, 11 June
You know what, I'm thinking the same thing...I get the feeling mine is also a girl cause the heartrate is also always very high! Lets hope that assumption is correct!

rachyg - Wednesday, 11 June
mmmmm i think i may need to invest in one. thanks

Andrea25 - Wednesday, 11 June
I am glad you are happy with your doppler! Its pretty reassuring to have between doctor visits.

wifeynmommy3 - Wednesday, 11 June
So... I just got off the phone with the doctors office...if it's not one thing, it's another!! My progesterone went up beautifully from 7.7 to 25.2 in one week. Now she said that my HCG didn't rise as much as it should have. At 2799 to 9890 in one week. It's so frustrating. Between the first two test, my HCG went from 602 to 2799 in three days, which was excellent. I'll just have to keep praying and staying positive.

lisa0704 - Tuesday, 10 June
Hi, where did you get your doppler - I saw one of those bebe things at walmart but my friend told me it didn't work so I didn't buy it.

sunnymom2b - Tuesday, 10 June
That is great you got the doppler and were able to get the heartbeat. It must be a relief to be able to hear it. I have heard that too about the high heart rate being a girl, however, I thought I read somewhere on this website of women commenting that their doctors mentioned boys being associated with high heart rates. I'm happy either way, but I can't find out which. BTW, mine is up there too. Last time it was 160, before that it was 169, so we'll see.

BrandiT - Tuesday, 10 June
I ate two huge plates of food before the pic lol I think you show faster with your 2nd. Im trying my hardest not to gain 500 lbs. How are you doing? I'm 13 weeks tomorrow!!!

ckelly - Tuesday, 10 June
Yay! Congrats on finding the heartbeat...now if there were just some way to hook those things up to us permanently and walk around with head phones all day...that would make it perfect!

Jacks1 - Tuesday, 10 June
Hey Latasha
How are you doing? I'm getting along fine! Have you decided on whether you're getting one of those dopplers? I have one and I must say I really love it! In my mind it's really worth having, I try not to listen to the heartbeat too often (like every 2nd or 3rd day), but it certainly gives me the confidence I need when I need it! Let me know what you decide to do!
Jacks x

kinta - Tuesday, 10 June
Hi :) Mine should be arriving tomorrow! I brought mine online for $85 it was originally cheaper, but I paid the extra $10 to have it sent express delivery haha, I am impatient! I'm so excited tho! I hope everything is ok, I keep talking to my stomach and saying silly things to it Its starting to get bigger which makes me feel A LOT better! I'm glad that everything is going well! I'll let you know tomorrow how I go with mine
All the best :D
