Birth Story

My due date was 27th December, on the 28th December I was out with my mum shopping and went to the loo and had alot of pinkish descharge. I went to bed that night and woke up at 6am the next morning with period like pains, I went to the loo and had ALOT of bright red blood, as i was sat on the loo a big clot fell in it!! (sorry if TMI)!!! I knew this was my show but was a bit worried at the amount of blood there was and how red it was so I called my midwife and she said she would come round to check me. She arrived about 7.30am and it was definitely the show, she checked me and I was 1cm dilated, I was so excited but my midwife said this doesnt really mean anything, it could be a few hours it could be another week!!!

That afternoon I had a check up at the hospital, they checked me i was still 1cm, they said my blood pressure was quite high and said to keep an eye on it and if it went over 90/140 to go straight in. They said if i needed to be induced it would be on the 12th jan, i was so upset cos my family had come over from the UK and were only staying until the 11th so I was just hoping that things would happen before then!

The next morning (sun 30th) i woke up with period like pains again, they seemed quite regular so i started timing them, they were between 6-12 minutes apart but then they stopped, i decided to go for a walk to see if that would get them going again so me and my sister went for a walk and stopped for a coffee, the contractions had come back and were stronger, my sister timed them and they were 5 minutes apart, we went back home and i took my blood pressure and it was 93/147 so my partner Dani said we would go to the hospital.

We got to the hospital at 12noon, they monitered my contractions and checked me and I was 3cm dilated. They told me that they would be keeping me in now, i couldnt believe it I was finally gonna meet my little girl!!

I had to stay in a room for a while just so i could dilate more, at around 3pm they took me down to another room, now my contractions were getting alot stronger and at around 5pm I asked if Icould have the epidural, they checked me and I was 6cm dilated, my waters still had not broken so they had to break them for me, after they broke my waters the contractions were unbearable!!! i had 4 more before they put the epidural in. When the epidural started working it was fantastic!! Me and Dani were laughing and joking and I actually fell asleep for a while!!! I woke up because the contractions had started getting painfull again and i was feeling alot of pressure down below, i told dani to go and tell a nurse that I thought the epidural might need topping up but the nurse said it was fine, she checked me and i was 10cm so she said with the next contraction i could start pushing. I was pushing for about an hour and a half and was in SOO much pain!! I was then taken into the delivery room and was screaming so much!!! The nurses (who were all spanish) were screaming at me in spanish telling me to calm down and shut up, they were so nasty. Anyway when I finally did calm down a bit and concentrated on pushing after about 3 big pushes Maisie was out at 9.33pm!! They put her on me and all the pain was instantly forgotten!!! A doctor came in soon after and noticed that the epidural had come out of my back so thats why it had been so painful for me!! i had done it without any pain relief.

She weighed 2.88 kilos (6lb 1oz) and was 45 cm long.

The first night in the hospital I didnt sleep at all cos i couldnt stop looking at my little princess.

Being a mum is amazing and I love my little girl more and more everyday. She was worth every littlle bit of pain!

Well only just found this site! Not sure what im doing yet!

Well I am 20 weeks pregnant at the mo! My due date is 27th December!

Me and my partner are very happy but also very nervous which I think is very normal!

I am from Wales in the UK but I live in Mallorca, Spain with my lovley boyfriend who is Spanish!

I do not have many friends here, and do not speak Spanish so feeling a bit lonely at times, really really missing my mum so im hoping this site will help me alot and I will have lots of people to talk to who are also pregnant!

I started to feel the baby moving about 3 weeks ago, at first it was like gas bubbles!!! Now it is much stronger, sometimes if my partner puts his hand on my belly he can also feel something!!!

I have had 2 scans so far, my last scan was a week ago, we wanted to find out the sex but he/she was being shy, BUT the scanner did say she thought it was a girl, i feel pretty certain its a girl, we have another one in a weeks so hopefully we will know for certain then!!!

23rd August 2007

Well we had our scan this morning and we are definitely having a girl!!! So excited! Been feeling really down the last few days! i think i must be getting on Dani´s nerves cos im forever going on about how much weight ive put on etc etc!!!! i just feel soooooo ugly at the moment!!!! i am putting on weight EVERYWHERE but i just cant seem to motervate myself to do anything about it and I just cant stop eating!!! So im just moaning all the time too!!! And i thought ur hair and skin were supposed to go lovely when u are pregnant!!! Well thats certainly not the case for me, my face is covered in spots and my hair is flat to my head and I just cant do anything with it!!!!!

Sorry for ranting on everyone!!!!!

Well something has happened to my page and i have lost everything i have written the last few weeks so im gonna have to try and remember what i said!!!!

Well I am now 27 weeks and VERY emotional at the mo, I am crying at the smallest things and getting really bad mood swings! My poor boyfriend just doesnt know what to do with himself!!!!

Well we have decided on a name for our little princess....Maisie-Rae....what does everyone think??? I call her Maisie all the time so I really cant imagine calling her anything else!!!!

We have booked our 3D scan for the 16th October, sooooo excited about that. Cant wait to see her!!!

I have now put on 21 lbs!!!! Ahhhh!!! I just want to eat all the time!!!! Im getting a bit worried about the amount of weight i am putting on cos I know it will be really hard to lose it after.

Hello! 29 weeks now! Woo! Its going so fast but then it feels like its not going fast enough!! if that makes sense!!!

I was supposed to finish work yesterday but my boss decided to stay open 1 more week so all this week i have to work 11 hour days which i am really not looking forward too! Im not sleeping very well at all at the mo, find it really hard to get comfy and every night i get a really stuffy nose!

My mum dad and brother are coming to see me on thursday!! yaya i cant wait! Not gonna be able to spend much time with them tho cos im working but I am then flying back home with them the following tuesday and gonna stay there for a week! Cant wait to see everyone but i dont know how im gonna be a week without Dani!!! im gonna miss him so much! We are gonna have some HUGE phone bills!!

maisie has been a bit quiet the last couple of days, i have felt movement but not loads, i get myself so worked up and worried when i dont feel much movement.

We have our 3D scan on tuesday, im so excited about it!!! Apparantely tho we only get a DVD and not photos!!! i hope we do get photos!!!

Anyway i will write again after the 3D scan and let u all know how it went, hopefully I will have some pics to post!

Havent updated this for ages!!! well i am now 34 weeks! Cant believe how fast this whole pregnancy has gone! Starting to get really uncomfortable now. So far I have gained 13 kilos (about 30 lbs!) im really worried about this and really hope im not gonna put on much more in the next 6 weeks! Thing is everyone keeps saying that i am small for how far along i am, but i think the weight has just gone on everywhere!

Anyway, I had the 4D scan done, it was lovely, she had her hands in front of her face for most of it but she did move them at the end and let us have a look at her beautiful face!

I am so happy cos i have found a english midwife (incase u dont know i live in mallorca so only see spanish doctors and my boyfriend has to to translate everything which is really frustrating)!! Also here in Malloca they do not have a midwife who comes round 10 days after the birth like they do in the UK so this midwife i have found is giving us 6 hours of antenatal classes, she will be on call 24/7, she will stay with me when my labour starts up until i need to go to the hospital, when the baby is born she will come and visit me in hospital and then she will come and visit me and the baby at home everyday for 10 days!! It is quite expensive but i know it will be worth it and it has made me feel so much more relaxed!!!

At this stage of my pregnancy i am feeling very tired and low on energy and my days consist of not doing much at all to be honest!!! I just hope the next 6 weeks dont drag too much!!!

My family will be coming here on the 21st December for xmas and will hopefully all be here for Maisie´s arrival!!!
