Our baby boy is doing great! About 6 inches and 13 ounces as of 9/18, and everything is developing normally. His heartbeat at this latest visit was 157, and his heart looked perfect. He started out on his back, legs up, just chillin'; then he kicked and boogied a bit for us - sooooo cute to see. <3 I'm in love!
I was so sure it was a girl, that when the tech showed us otherwise I think I was in shock for several hours. But once it sank in, I realized that I actually felt relieved -- I guess I'd wanted a boy all along and just hadn't let myself tune into having a preference one way or the other. Now, I'm just tickled. We are so blessed!
This is our first child. DH & I met online (match.com!) in 2005, married in 2007, and now in 2009 are waiting to go from being a couple to becoming a family.
We love Ireland - spent our honeymoon there, because my DH is part Irish - and decided to choose names with some Irish history, but we didn't want to go so far as to choose Gaelic names that people here wouldn't pronounce right (Padraig, for instance; or Seamus). So we've arrived at Emmett Patrick. Emmett's not Irish, actually; it's English. But Emmet (one "t") isn't uncommon there. And anyway it *sounds* Irish to us, so we're just pretending it is! Plus people here know how to say it, lol.
The Chinese Calendar and the Lunar Calendar were both right in their predictions that we'd have a boy; Madame Zaritsky was wrong. Not judging her poorly, though, as I was wrong too! Ha ha ha ha.
Congratulations to all you other expecting mommies (and daddies) out there! I wish you all full-term, healthy pregnancies; quick & easy deliveries; and practically perfect little ones!! Plus loving romantic helpful partners, too. :-)
