Hi!

My D/H and I are expecting our first baby at the end of September and can't wait. My Hubby is a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps and we're currently stationed in Virginia. The original plan when we started trying was to get pregnant while we were here and then have the baby once we got to Florida. Well, plans changed and it looks like we'll be here for the birth and a few months after which will give us all a little time to adjust.

I'm planning on having a waterbirth at a Birth Center nearby. I would like to do things as naturally as possible, but if I need help I'm not going to be too stubborn to ask for it. Since our family won't be able to be here and there's a good chance that my D/H won't be there for the birth I'm planning on enlisting the services of a Doula.

That's me and my plans in a nutshell but I'm always eager to listen to advice.

Thanks,

Lydia

***UPDATE***

It looks like finding a birth center that does water births that my insurance will pay for is impossible. So... I'm working out an exact plan with my midwife over the next few appointments. Fingers crossed I can find a good compromise!

How I told my Husband he was Going to be a Dad

I took a home pregnancy test the day after my missed period. We had been trying to only 2 months but I was so excited I couldn't wait. The test came back positive and I was SO excited I didn't know what to do. I called one of my good friends back home in WA and we came up with a plan.

My husband and I share a car because it works well for us since I'm not working and he works such crazy hours. It makes it so we can actually talk to each other before he gets home and goes to sleep. So before I had to leave to pick him up at work I ran out to my local Target and bought a couple of the cutest onesies I could find (gender neutral of course). I had a whole laundry basket of clean clothes that I had been avoiding folding for a day so I strategically layered the onesies in the laundry.

On our way home I said I hadn't been feeling good and asked if my husband could help me with the laundry. Now he HATES to fold laundry which is why he cleans the toilets and I do the laundry but I digress. He agreed and decided that while he was folding the laundry he'd call his Mom to help pass the time. So I just laughed and sat back to wait.

Instead of just taking one article of clean laundry out and folding it, like I expected he dumped the entire basket on the couch and went at it. Not a bad method it just made it so the onesie I had intended for him to see last he saw first. So he's talking away with his Mom about a backpacking trip that she's going on and he gets to the first onesie. He picks it up and just folds it like any other piece of clothing but he gives me this look like you're counting your chickens before they hatch. This is because I had been talking about this onesie and how much I liked it since before we started trying. Eventually he makes it to the second piece of baby clothing and then he starts to get suspicious. After a few minutes of trying to ask me what's going on while whispering because his Mom is still on the phone I just give up and shout "I'M PREGNANT!" At this point I just grin and nod while I watch his mind slowly shut down and his mouth keep saying really over and over again. He started jumping up and down and hugging me once his brain came back on. I don't think it could have turned out any better, especially because his Mom could be involved even from across the country.

I loved DC. we want to go back for more than just one day. lol I understand how it is. Thank gosh i live on base and made some pretty good friends. Justin just picked up SGT which is so amazing and he might b staying back from this upcoming deployment!! have you guys talked about another baby yet? we have...we might try if he doesnt get deploy or when rayna is three. we arent sure yet. Yea i work with the FRO for justins unit and its true...enlisted are scared of officers wives...not really scared but alot of the officers wives (around here) are really stuck up. so idk..its a weird difference. i dont think its a big deal i talk to everyone! haha Gosh i know Rayna is now 13 months too and i cant believe it. it flysssss. I dont know what you were trying to do in school but Columbia Southern University has great programs to do. Justin just enrolled to start school. Their ALL online so u can stay home with princess. i think i might start there so i still stay home with her. Except i think we're addin Rayna into daycare in Jan for a few hrs every day so she can play with other kids and i can get a break. its going to b hard doing everything and having her home with all day long when jutins leaves. =/
