My husband and I had been married for 17 years when he sent an e-mail from Kabul, Afghanistan, in the middle of a year-long deployment. He had done a lot of thinking about what was really important in life- family. We always talked about having a third child and he was ready to take the steps to do just that. He returned home in May of '07, had a vasectomy reversal a week later and we conceived our third child in June. After our two amazing sons, I dared to dream that we might now have our little baby daughter. In October we had an ultrasound that showed our little girl, perfect and healthy. Just after our 18th anniversary and our oldest son's 17th birthday, Leah was born in March '08- our dream come true. Having three kids including a teenager, 2nd grader, and a newborn has its challenges- as any family configuration does. But, we couldn't be happier!

sgtoodles - Friday, 22 August
You are so lucky to only have to go back to work part time and be able to spend the other days with your little girl. I am also a teacher and have been off of work since March. I go back in a week and a half and it's just killing me thinking of having to leave my son in daycare. I wish i could stay home with him, but we need the money.

momoffive - Friday, 15 August
that would be so fun! We love getting out and about. Sams still not so fond of it but I put him in the carrier and he cuddels up and sleeps thru most of our day trips :-) Let me know when a good time would be (once this crazy heat is gone). We are pretty flexable untill the kids go back to school. I will then have one out at 11:15, one out at noon and one out at 3. Just being home for kids to get home will consume my days. If after school hours work better maybe we could meet at chuck e cheese in Beaverton or something?

mom2boy - Friday, 15 August
I know, I asked his DR today and she said it is pretty normal in the beginning to get sick this much.

mom2boy - Thursday, 14 August
Thanks for your support it helps a lot. I am not going to yell at them, I actually really like the staff. His teacher is great. He starts daycare at my work Sept 1st I am sad to remove him from where he is but I will be able to go to him for all his feedings, I am extremely excited about that. It just seems like being sick almost once a week is a bit excessive. Don't you think? I feel like poor guy how good can life be if he is always sick.

i diddnt even think of doing the fruits that were in season now ahead of time. Here i would of been shelling out a good fortune to get the organic stuff outta season a few months from now i guess in my head all i could think of was what she could eat now..

What do u use for storage for these items your gonna be putting away for a few months?

beautiful kids!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, how'd the peas go? Did she like them?

1blessedmomma - Wednesday, 6 August
I'm gonna try and do that this Saturday. Maybe I can find some local peaches. Ours are always bug ridden so we only get a few and we made preserves out of what we had since they weren't fully ripened and we would be adding sugar anyway. I've never done sweet potatoes but there's a man who brings a truck full of them to an empty parking spot up the street so I may stop by and see him. We live near a lot of farms here so there's lots to choose from during the year. This is the first baby we've had that we could feed fresh veggies from our own garden!

1blessedmomma - Wednesday, 6 August
Yes, we did cantaloupe on Sunday. My dh cut it up before church and I just pureed it raw. He LOVED it!! Before you do the peas, make sure there's no salt already added to them. We buy frozen veggies for us all the time and I've noticed that sometimes that add salt to some things to preserve or season I guess. If you're at all inclined, you can probably buy some fresh peas and shell them yourself. You wouldn't really need too many to make a decent size batch for a baby so that's an option too if you find that the veggies have salt. Have a great day!

You are VERY welcome. I just made him some carrots and zucchini this afternoon to freeze. I'm not so sure how he'll like the zucchini though. He's not very fond of green beans at all. He gags and chokes on them. However, I made an entire ice tray full so he's gonna eat 'em. I added a little jarred applesauce today just so he'd eat but tomorrow I'll add something like cantaloupe or carrots. Ya know, another great thing about doing it yourself, is that you can make up some very interesting combinations

It is easy isn't it? And fun! I love making food for him. Since we stopped breastfeeding at 6wks. because of the frustration and stress, it makes me feel better knowing that I'm feeding him food that is good for him and that has nothing added but love!

maimai - Saturday, 2 August
Erica will be 6 months on the 10th! She is much better, have started her on rice and fruit n veg and she loves it! She is still breast feeding and I am now eating soya and dairy again and she is fine (I slowly introduced it back into my diet and she was fine). I still haven't given her anything with milk in it directly yet though. Glad to hear that Leah is doing well. Hope you are well too.

debora - Saturday, 2 August
Hey, there:

Sorry for the delay. I am working more outside of the house, so I don't have a lot of time to devote to sitting at the computer.

Oh, I can imagine on the school/work situation.

I am fine though. Just not fertile.

Smiles,

Debora :-)

I was also concerned about the chlorine too so I asked his doctor about it and she said that he would be fine and that alittle time in the pool was good for him. I was worried about his skin since it was senstive and he had no problems. I did give him a shower soon after. As for sunscreen I found that Banana Boat Baby works great. Aaron didn't break out or anything. We love Viginia Beach and go atleast twice a year.

Hello! Yes, I am going back in about three weeks too :( Julia will be going to daycare which I'm not really looking forward to but at this point I don't have much of an option. Thats great that you will be job sharing, that must be a nice relief. I am a special education teacher and I teach a classroom of students with learning disability....primarily in grades 4 and 5. Its such a fun age isn't it? Your little girl is adorable by the way, I love the name Leah and that was actually our second choice. It wasn't until we were in the hopsital having her that I decided on Julia.

Aarons Mommy - Thursday, 31 July
He liked the beach but liked the pool more. The water was alittle cold. He didn't really go in the water we just let his feet get wet. We are hoping to go at the end of August and he will be alittle older so maybe he will like it even more. We went to Virginia Beach.

SUCH a true saying! I've always loved children. Now I just a complete overwhelming to help every baby I see. Even when I see a toddler with a runny nose, I give a tissue to the mother. I'm such a " mom" now lol

mamasuzy - Thursday, 31 July
my daughter is 8 and a half months now, i'm eating everything normally now and she is fine with it! no fussing, and no blood in her stools :) i do get scared from time to time but i would think if she were still allergic she would be fussy during bowel movements, not gain weight, etc...so glad its over and done with! i will have her stools tested at her 9 month check up just to make sure there isnt microscopic blood or anything, and i give her iron supplements regularly because she came up slightly anemic around 6 months (im guessing from the blood that was in her stools)...
anyway glad to hear you are getting to eat more!

flgrl - Wednesday, 30 July
thank god -Im not NOT mental. I'm glad other women feel the same way as me when it comes to those type of situations. By the way your baby girl is adorable!~

Allie08 - Monday, 28 July
We love the KidCo PeaPod for camping ( http://www.kidco.com/main.taf?p=4,5 ) It is way easier, lighter, and more versatile than a pack n play. What I do is "practice" with it at home by letting Phoebe take naps and sleep and just hang out in it for a few days before we use it on a trip so that she is comfortable in it and used to it. Works great! I don't like the thick "blanket" that comes with it so I am going to sew a "sheet" that velcros to the bottom inside of the tent. Have fun on your trip!
