Hi everybody... This is my 3rd pregnancy. I had hospital delivery with epidural the first time and the 2nd time I was on the way to the hospital but didn't make it and my husband delivered our baby girl on the side of the road at 3 a.m. I am for natural delivery, belive me it is a HUGE difference!!!
This is why I am going to have a home birth with my midwife, maybe in the bathtub... Gentle birth babies are VERY SPEACIAL!!!

Friday, 25 July I don't know if I made any progress... she said the cervix was still thick and unfavorable. She said that the baby is already 9 pounds and because my last one was delivered in the car she wants to have the baby by Sunday. So what she did is , she manually soften the cervix for a couple of minutes by massaging it or whatever he did there I don't know. But she said by doing so, she almost got it effaced and very soft. Hopefully that will get things going. The idea is to have a full effacement before you go into labor as it is much easier and I guess less painful. Also she said to put 5 softgels inside today....
Answering your question, no I don't feel anything when putting them in. When I insert them I don't get up anymore, only in the middle of the night to go pee.... terri08 -
Thursday, 24 July Did your midwife say you have made any progress? I am taking my epo like you and it made me feel a little queazy last night. Did you experience the same thing when you started taking them? Thanks so much and hope your appointment goes great!! Mommyo3 -
Sunday, 6 July Thank you so much for all the helpful information! I didn't know all the positives and negatives and after reading that, I really just want to tell me ob that I want to give it a try. (naturally) I will totally feel cheated and like I failed somehow by having a C-sestion. I'm really glad you took the time to send me such helpful info! Hope you are doing well! mumofsix -
Thursday, 3 July I see my midwife on Monday. It will be the last of my 2 week checks and then I will see her weekly. She is going away for 8days on Tuesday so hopefully baby will not decide to come early.
I see you also want a home birth in the tub, I'm sorry if we already talked about this, I had my last baby this way and loved it. I hope to do the same again. I need to be be 37 weeks before they will let me birth at home but she said she would consider it if it was a day or two earlier. She wont be around then anyway so better cross my leg and sit tight for a week. My last two came 2 weeks early. mumofsix -
Thursday, 3 July Hi Ya, I have never been tested for strep B. It does not seem to be something done over here. We do have routine blood tests done at this stage but No invasive checks unless nessesary. We don't even get dilation checked until we are in labour.

Wednesday, 2 July Yeah, that sounds about right... except they don't measure me. I guess my real frustration is that with my last pregnancy I had a different insurance and I got to see my personal doctor every time and he was going to be the one delivering. Now that we switched to Kaiser all I get is a nurse practitioner, not even a midwife, and when I go into labor I get whatever midwife and doctor they happen to have working at the time. I guess I felt like I might be getting the attention I should when I hear my friends say they get stress tests and measured and ultrasounds and they know how much their baby weighs and what percentile it's in etc. I feel like I'm just a number. Thanks, it helps to know my check-ups have actually been normal! tamian -
Wednesday, 2 July Thank you sooo much for the comment. I am not out of the water just yet though as I still have placenta previa, but the doctor was very hopeful that it may have moved (in the last two weeks) and that is why she is able to be head down now. I had been doing hypnosis everyday for a natural birth and was sooo gutted when they told me last week that there was no chance and scheduled the cesarean. Now I am jumping for joy!! I love that you are an advocate for natural birthing, I truly believe it is the best way to go. They are not contractions, they are pressure waves. Hehe! Fingers crossed for the ultrasound next Wednesday. Do they bring a bath to your house or do you fill up your own tub?
Sooo exciting!!! Keep me posted.

Wednesday, 2 July Thanks for your comment! I'm going into labor not setting myself up for disappointment for sure. Next time around I'll probably go your route though, but to be honest it wasn't until I was pregnant and reading all the info I could about labor (medicated and unmedicated) that I decided that a natural approach was for me. You're right, I am lucky that my Dr.'s are all so open to anything. 1/3 of women in their practice go natural so they're very comfortable with it. tamaramcmanus -
