Thursday, 1 May i just read your post, i had the gel the night before they started the pitocin as well, but it didnt do anything for me...no contractions, no dialation..nothing. but dont let that discourage you- it could be different for you and even if its not the pitocin always works! good luck to you and i hope everything goes smooth! dt425 -
Thursday, 1 May It will start contractions...and help dialate you...apperently you get massive cramps and stuff...they will instruct you on what to do if your water breaks or anything...it will help though yes...I have to get a balloon inserted... so consider yourself lucky lol b -

Sunday, 27 April Good luck with induction. I am VERY glad we did it. We started the pitocin at 8:30 am and I delivered at 8:55pm. To be honest- I wasn't in too much pain. Take the IV pain meds they give you- they will make you feel like you are higher than a kite but they work and really help just relax you. I also had an epidural and didn't feel a thing for 4 hours or so- then you feel some pressure and then like you have to poo. I got very lucky and my pushing only took 30 minutes or so. Bit of other advice- TAKE IT ALL IN! It was like my wedding day- went so fast. I wish I would have opened my eyes more during pushing (hard to do). When you push...push with all your might even though it hurts- it makes the baby come faster. A part of me wishes we would have video taped it (not the icky down there part). My sister took a ton of pics and is making a slide show- which I have looked at the photos over and over. If I could hit rewind I would do it all over! I really enjoyed it. Although people are all different. Good Luck! MyLilAidan -
Friday, 25 April inducing will only make your labor faster and harder, it makes the baby come out, no threat for c-section unless your baby is like 15lbs and theres a chance he/she will get stuck, in that case they will do c-section automaticaly without an induction. aadams -
Friday, 25 April Just let your doc know, I don't think he would have a problem with a 3 day difference. As long as you are 38 1/2 weeks they will generally accommodate to your needs. Nope! Not my first, This is number 2 for us. My daughter, Aspen, is 3. I was induced with her at 37 weeks. If I can make any recommendations it would be to sleep as much as possible when they start your IV with the pitocin or the hormone. This way you aren't exhausted when contractions get serious. It might be hard cause your adrenaline is going crazy cause of the excitement, but it will make your life much easier and comfortable. Induced labor can get lengthy. I was in for 36 hours from the start of my IV to the end of labor, but only the last couple hours were uncomfortable, as I did not have the epidural. Pushing took about 20 minutes, so when I tell people the labor was 36 hours, they think it is awful, but truly it isn't awful since you aren't in pain for 36 hours, alot of people don't understand it. Sorry this turned into a novel. I am pretty anxious and nervous despite having already done this once, so I can't imagine how excited you must be! Best wishes! Is your hubby military? aadams -
Friday, 25 April Hi I talked to my doctor this morning about induction. He said you are only at a higher risk of a c-section with induction if you are 37 weeks or earlier. Since we are further along, the risk is not prominent. I am going to be induced on the 5th or the 7th, and my due date is the 2nd so we are in then same boat! Best wishes! Don't worry, your doc wouldn't risk anything that would be high risk! b -

Sunday, 20 April We're due in 9 days too and have tried everything to make him come out early. I spent an hour last week down on my hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor ~ and nothing... Keeping my fingers crossed for you that your hubby will be around for the birth, I can't even imagine him not being there. Maybe the full moon tonight will help push things along! mrsjcarr -
