IT'S A GIRL!!!!

hello everyone! My husband and I are expecting our first child!! Baby is due April 12, 2008! We can not wait till our little one is here. So far my pregnancy has been very difficult. I have and still am experiencing morning sickness...non-stop...but i know it'll be worth it in the end!

We went for our 16 week u/s last week to find out the baby's sex but his/her legs were blocking it so now we have to wait till next month! i cant wait!!!! Next appt. is Nov. 29th!! Seems soooo far away!

Well i wish everyone luck on their pregnancies! Congrats!!!

11/29/07

Went to our doctors appt. today. Last month the doctor said he was gonna do a more detailed u/s this time seeing as i was going to be 20 weeks. But when we went in he said that since im going to see a genetic counsler and have an ultrasound done there (which is an even more detailed u/s) he was going to not do one this month. I was sad and just said "Oh so you cant tell us what we're having since last month you couldnt tell?" Then he was like "well...i did promise you that i was gonna check..." and he did and ITS A GIRL!!! We are very excited especially my husband. We went to babies r us after and bought a really cute purple outfit that says "i love daddy". He was thrilled as am i. Genetic counsler appt. (u/s and amnio) is on Tuesday 12/04/07. so nervous..

12/4/07

Just got back from the genetic counsler. It was pretty nerve racking. We saw our baby girl (its still a girl! yay!) and the nurse and doctor said she is very healthy and they saw no signs of downs syndrome from the u/s. I know that doesnt necessarilly means she doesnt have d/s but i was just happy to hear she was healthy so we decided not to have the amnio and risk having a miscarriage. We know in our hearts that she is fine and thats all that matters..we'll love her no matter what! We got some amazing pictures! Once i figure out how to put them on here i will. =)

12/15/07

Im 23 weeks today! yay! This is so exciting...only 119 days left! Time just seems to be flying by. I feel Abigail move all the time and its the most amazing thing in the world, kinda freaky, yet amazing! :) My husband only felt her once. Everytime she starts to move i grab his hand and put it right on my belly and then she stops moving..haha..
OOOh...Christmas is in 10 days!!! Im looking forward to the food!!! haha!

01/02/08

2 days left until im 26 weeks! yay! I have a doctors appt tomorrow to see how Abby and I are doing. Have to take the glucose test as well..blahh! Im just excited on going to the doctor to check my weight...haha! I feel like a hippo...i want to see if i weigh as much as one. Anyways..My husband and I started working on the babys room. Put the border up, the changing table is in, play pen thing is in, and the rocker. All we need now is the crib which we are shopping for today =). Cant wait!!

What a happy baby!

Awww, she is so sweet!! I love her little smile. Summer still isn't a fan of tummy time. I think I need to do it more to get her used to it.

Hey, I read your post about fruits and cereal. Its always kinda hard to bring up the cereal topic in the early forums and get positive feedback lol Well, even though it's not exactly "by the book" I have been giving my son rice cereal since he was about 5 weeks old. Nothing major, I just started out with about 1/2 teaspoon because I felt like he wasn't getting satisfied or full off the milk alone. Also, when he was only a couple weeks old and had trouble with constipation, the Doctor reccommended to give him 2 oz of fruit/prune juice a day. Well 5 weeks later, and now we've graduated to rice with bananas and rice with apples, although he still doesn't get that much, just about a tsp and a half. Like I always say, everyone's baby is different, and nobody knows yours like your own...not even a Doctor! *may sound critical, but I think its true!* Whatever you decide, Good Luck!

Wow that's great.

Does everybody get those kind of benefits when they have babies or just the people that have been there a long time. I am jealous.

mom2boy - Thursday, 19 June
Wow! That is unheard of in the US. What field are you in I need to change.

How come you get to stay off work for so long?

Anthony is doing better. He is sleeping on his mommy's lap, all peaceful! My baby does not have too regular a schedule yet, but I am fine with that. I think his rhythm got upset at the hospital too. Babies' sense of day and night time will get better over time. Hang in there. I just now found out that he was crying like crazy because he was tired. He did not need to feed or have his diaper changed. He just wanted to nap...

beautifulbebe - Saturday, 24 May
could she be allergic to the kind of formula she is getting? I know that when Anthony was in the hospital last week being poked and prodded, he did not sleep at night. One 24 hour period, he slept only 4 to 5 hours. So, overstimulation might be the problem. Good luck and I hope that things will improve for you.

I am sorry you are having such a difficult time at night. Lack of sleep sucks! My baby likes to go to sleep at 1 or 2am and even though I'm more of a night person, this is too late for me! I'm trying to work on getting her to sleep earlier by observing her more to see why she is staying awake so late. Anyway, my suggestion might be that you try bringing your baby to a chiropractor. I have heard lots of people with babies that have colic have big success with a chiropractor. I know it's a big thing but it might help your baby. Look into if you can & find one that's done it before with babies. Good luck to you! May you sleep soon.

I bought a book called "The happiest baby on the block" It is this guys 5 ways on soothing colic. It is reasonably priced. The author is Harvey Karp. He has a website dedicated to his books http://www.thehappiestbaby.com/ He has been featured on Jeopardy and Dr.Phil. Give his methods a try. My daughter isn't colic but when she gets into a crying fit we use his 5 s's and they work like MAGIC!! Go to his site and see if it is something that would work for you! At least try it for a few days if it doesn't work then you can move on to something else.

mommyinthesky - Tuesday, 20 May
I just found out how to help my baby sleep at night and it's by letting him sleep more during the day, not less. Let the baby nap during the day more and I bet the baby will sleep more at night. Week 6 was a nightmare for us. Now Jacob has slept through the night the last 3 nights and it's because he is getting some good naps during the day. Babies need 16 hours or so in a 24 hr period. There is a book I just read about NAPS. I also thought that limiting sleep during the day, especially the evening would help the baby sleep better, but the opposite is true. Mom2boy has been doing a similar thing with Jamison and has had good results as well.

mom2boy - Tuesday, 20 May
I don't let Jamison nap for more than 2 to 3 hours. I wake him up to feed him and I turn all the lights on and talk to him. After I will play with him and if he is fussy, I will just hold him and take him outside to get the mail or sit out in the backyard. Then when he starts acting tired again I put him back down for another nap. Sometimes he gets tired within an hour sometimes two. I don't like him to stay up for more than two hours because he gets grouchy. However at night, I never turn the lights on and I don't talk to him. During the day I nurse him and if he falls asleep I wake him up to play assuming I know he has just had a nap and doesn't need one. When I nap him I do it with the lights on and I don't try too hard to keep real quiet. The only time I nap him in the dark and keep it quiet is if he has having a hard time taking a nap. When he is napping good though I don't bother with being quiet or dark. If your baby is waking up to play but isn't crying. Just ignore her coos and go back to sleep. She will get bored and realize you are a bore at night so she might as well sleep. If she starts crying get her and rock her, but do it in the dark and don't talk to her just ssshhhhh her or some quiet singing. You could also try nursing her until she falls asleep. And if you do the side laying position you can lie down with her and just let yourself does off while she suck to her hearts content, all in the dark of course. You may be rocking her for a long time but eventually she will get the picture. We use to be up all night with our son, rocking him or walking him around the house (in the dark) with his eyes wide open. It drove me nuts, I wanted those little peepers to close so bad. Now he always goes right back to sleep...for the most part. Before he would be up for hours at a time and now he will usually go back to sleep right after eating.

I don't recall the discoloration being anywhere else but on the inside of the belly button right where the cord was cut. Perhaps the Dr got the nitrate on other parts of the skin as well. I would give a call into your Dr's office and talk to either a Dr or a nurse, so that they can calm your anxiety. I am sure it is fine though. :o) you will probably see big improvement in the next few days.

dannie - Sunday, 18 May
I read your comment about having silver nitrate put on your baby's belly button and just wanted to let you know that we had to do that with my son. His too turned gray in color(almost burned looking), but within a few days it started to look like a normal belly button and the discoloration went from gray to flesh color.
