April 27th: 39 Weeks

Soo, my cervix is closed, but thinning the doc said. I'm still 6 days away from my due date and Robbie is kinda small for his "age", so I'm telling myself he just has a little more fat to put on before his body will be ready for the outside world. Sometimes it really feels like I will be pregnant forever tho. I have another appt in 5 days, I'm going to do lots of walking between now and then!

April 23rd: 38 Weeks

No false labors, no braxton hicks, no contractions, no back pains, and the doc won't even check my cervix yet. I feel nothing down there. Some pressure now and then, but really just the same old same old.

oh GEEZ. :( the good news is, that strange stretch mark thing actually disappeared. Guess it wasnt a stretch mark after all, just a weird red thing.

April 13th: 37 Weeks

Three weeks left! Out of no where I have become suddenly very nervous about leaving work and finishing everything. I want to do as much as I can bf going into labor. Now that he is "full term" I am suddenly not wanting him to come out just yet! I feel scared/nervous/unprepared.

Physcially, I feel better these days bc he has dropped- I felt it happen too. Jose's parents were in town and we went on a 3 mile walk and I felt this horrible pain in my bladder, so bad! i looked down at my belly and it looked all different and lower, now I can rest my arm on the top whereas bf there was no room for my arm. Now his feet don't hurt my ribs too much but sometimes my bladder area feels real uncomfortable when his head moves, its slightly painful. I'll take that over my bruised ribs any day, plus its nice knowing hes all ready in position.

We went on the hospital tour last week! I thought it would be this happy fun experience but I didn't really like it. The labor/delivery room was cool, and the nurses seemed nice and supportive, but the recovery room is teeny. And they didn't let us see the babies! All the blinds were shut, what a disapointment. We spent all this time in the c-section room instead and I pretty much ignored everything they said. I dont know.. I guess I don't like hospitals and it scared me. I'm just scared.

I also found out I am strep-b positive which is surprising, and the doc said she only estimates him to be 5lbs at this point. I keep gaining weight-- why can't he take some of that? He really needs to fatten up and this worries me too. I worry a lot lately that the docs knows things that she doesn't mention to me bc they dont want the mother to worry. I know thats stupid, but what if something is wrong and no one knows? I wonder how correct their estimations are on the weight. Geez I hope hes healthy. I wish they would give me another u/s and check everything again. Oh man.

Also, my 1st stretch mark appeared yesterday morning!! So red and angry, but real little.

March 29th: 35 Weeks

Yesterday we went to the doctors and she had me lay down and she told Jose to come over, and put his hands around his head! You could totally feel his little round head, it was sticking out a bit too. Hes head down facing my back, but he hasnt dropped yet. What a cutie! Then I got afraid we were pokin his eyes out.

I feel more emotional than ever, I cry almost daily. Not that I'm sad in general, but I'm always getting upset over somethin and the tears start flowin immediately. Thank goodness I'm ALMOST done! Pregnancy has been a lot more difficult than I anticipated - I thought labor was the hard part, and I haven't even done that yet.

Babyshower Pics... I'm 31 weeks :)

March 13th: 32 Weeks

So, I am going to the doc every 2 weeks now! She told us yesterday my baby shouldn't be on the big side. Such good news to my ears! She guesstimates between 6.5-7.5 lbs. This makes for easier labor, I am SO relieved! I seriously had a smile on my face the rest of the day. For some reason I am not too nervous about labor (yet), I'm just really excited. I think with the epidural I should be able to handle it okay. Jose and I have been taking child birth/lemaz classes once a week, theyre sorta helpful.

What else has been going on.... I passed the diapetes test about a month ago with flying colors. Oh and two weeks ago I had my first baby shower, it was kind of wild-- about 40 women and all you can eat/drink! It was fun and we got TONS and tons of stuff. Just about everything except the stroller! My next one is at the end of the month.

I feel pretty good except for my back starts aching usually mid to late afternoon, but thats been happening for the past 6 weeks or so, so I'm sorta used to living with it. i havent felt any Braxton Hicks or anything like that. Hes always playing around in there, my whole belly shakes when he moves- sometimes its so violent and surprising it takes my breath away! I love that he is in there playing tho, it makes me smile.

February 16th: 29 weeks

January 24th

We are buying the diaper changing table tomorrow, its beautiful and I'm so excited! Plus Jose is painting the babys room on Saturday! Yay. I am going to put the tape up for him, I was thinking it might be neat to stencil a stork or some baby ducks above the crib. I dont know if I am creative enough to figure that out tho, maybe I will go to the craft store and see if I can find something....

We slept in the guest bed in there last night bc our own room was so HOT, I was a dummy and left the door open while the fireplace was on and it heated up so much. It was nice to think I was sleepin in my baby's room, and I had fresh new sheets on the bed from Pottery Barn, but that bed is so small! My fat ass + him + the dog barely fit.

I am still checking fanatically for stretchmarks every night. My belly is so greased up all the time, ha.

January 21st: 25 weeks

I started putting anti-stretch mark stuff on my belly today bc it is getting so big! I'm getting to the point where bending over to pick stuff up feels uncomfortable bc its in the way. No stretch marks yet, but my belly feels itchy a lot... I feel like if I'm going to get them theres probably nothing I can do to prevent it, but I keep slathering the stuff on anyways!

Does anyone know about what weeks you typically get them?? Did anyone not get them- do I even have a chance?

January 9th: 23 weeks

I had my doctors appointment yesterday, I was so scared to eat breakfast and lunch bc of being weighed in after the holidays! At my last visit (after thanksgiving) I gained FIVE lbs, this time Ive been walking a whole bunch but I still eat what I want pretty much bc I'm always hungry. The appointment wasn't until after lunch and I didnt have time to run home, so we ended up at Chick Fil-A. I ate a grilled sandwhich and a damn fruit cup instead of fries! Ha so lame, and it tasted canned not fresh at all. BUT when I stepped on that scale it was all worth it bc I only gained THREE lbs this time..... such good news!! Hootie hoo.

It was a good day.

December 15th: 20 weeks

Guessss what... it looks like mamma knows best after all......

I'm having a BABY BOY!

Just as I thought this whole time. Feels so good to know!! We passed up the downsyndrome test, but thru the ultra sound he looks happy and healthy, and Jose even felt him kick 2 nights ago in bed. Yippie!

December 1st: 18 weeks

Felt the baby move last Sunday! He/she was up kicking around 1am... I couldn't believe it. It felt like they were turning big flips or somersaults. I felt 5 strong pushes in there about 5 or 6 times in less than a minute, and then a few more later on. I didnt wake up Jose bc I was scared he/she might stop. Amazing... but haven't felt anything since.

Last sunday morning Jose and I sat around in our pjs and put the crib together, its so cute. We registered for the baby shower at Babies R Us in NY with his mom. The showers won't be until March and April tho.

Dec 10th-- the gender determining day-- is taking forever!

November 17th: 16 weeks

So, I am under the strong suspicion I am having a *BOY*! I don't know how much stock Jose puts in this, but for a first time mom without a clue what shes doing, I'm like 100% fo show! My psychic abilities are not great, but if I am going to have intuition about this baby the way I do now with my husband, then I'm right on. We'll see.... we find out the sex and get the big ultrasound at our next visit December 10th... that seems so far from from now! I feel VERY strongly that it is a boy, but ya know what, I would be thrilled to be wrong as well.... so either way I am ok.

We are DRIVING to NY for Thanksgiving to see Jose's family... ugh. I am not looking forward to sitting in traffic for 10 hours holding my pee. His mom is going to give us her good friend's Bellini crib, so we need the suv to bring it back. It will be good to see all his friends and family and eat... altho the eating whatever I want game is no longer holding its charm... in fact, I don't care very much about what exactly goes in my mouth since I'm always starving and thus constantly eating, by the end of the day I've sampled a bit of everything.

What I'm really looking forward to is not participating in any of the drinking festivities while everyone around me gets sloshed... ha. yea right. woops- do i sound bitter?

We had a doctor's visit 6 days ago and met 1 of the 6 doctors who could be delivering the baby. Heard the heart beat, the baby is sitting super super low.... I hope he moves farther up soon. :)

Oct 30: Me at 13 weeks!!

My husband took these pictures, hes taking one every week or so. He sent it to all his friends back home in NY, and I didn't really want him to bc I didn't think I looked all that far along, but their reactions were so funny. None of them are married (altho some are engaged) and they were all like 'oh my god.... shes sooo pregnant... oh my god.' ha! hes like, the happiest I've ever seen him. We had this talk the other night and I was like 'ever since we moved here and i got pregnant, THIS is what i pictured our life would be like when we got married' and he was like yes!! me too! Living in DC before was fun (sometimes) but it was so stressful. We had a teeny apartment and stressful jobs and high payments on everything and just a lot of general unhappiness over all. Now our life is so easygoing and we are both much more relaxed and happier with each other too.

My mother is throwing me a small baby shower here in April or so, and my mother in law is throwing me a bigger one in NY this February. I want to register at Babies R Us and possibly Pottery Barn kids...? I cant wait for all those gifts! Right now our baby room is empty with just a bed for guests. Altho it has its own bathroom and we did put stuff in that, just yellow and blues.

I've been thinking lately if I want to do cloth or plastic diapers. Cloth seems so gross, but I don't like plastic either for environmental reasons. Its like 9 tons or something worth of waste. hmm. something tells me jose won't go for the cloth.

October 20: 12 Weeks!

So am I in the 2nd trimester? I think I am! I read somewhere its 14 weeks but I am going to believe its 12 for now bc I think thats right... so glad to be out of the first trimester! Its nice to not be all hormonal and freakin out and cryin all the time! finally. I feel great, energetic, not sick to my stomach, but I don't really have that 'bottomless pit stomach' some ppl talk about on here. Despite this feeling, I went to the doctor last week, and I have gained TEN LBS so far!!!! that is not really ok, ew. I thought the doc was going to be mad, but she said it was ok bc my b.m.i. is still small for my size, but damnnnnn! None of my little jeans will stretch over my huge ass now, but I'm still not fitting in maternity clothes, so that is kind of a bummer. :( I don't understand how some ppl haven't put on any weight at this point...

Well anyways, we found our real doctor and also heard the heart beat, its nice and strong. I believe 144 or something, so its good! I wish I could feel it beat with my hand. Geez in just a few weeks I will be able to feel him/her kicking! That will be so amazing....

I had a dream two nights ago I was going into labor-- but instead of my baby a little kitten came out!! I didn't mind tho, I was still all happy and excited to see it. In real life I feel like I may be having a boy, but in the dream it was a little female kitten tho, so does this mean its a girl????????

October 9: 10 Weeks 4 days

Well when I was at the doc last time I forgot to say they dated me 4 days farther along! I dont know how much that means at this point, but I do feel 10 weeks. Just got back from a vaca in Chicago, I didnt feel AS exhausted as usual, and only a little queesy. Also-- I have this belly bump out of no where! It reminds me of freshman yr when I looked down and suddenly saw this beer gut and was like 'whose body is this?' Anyways Im excited to be this far along and feel great!!

Also we moved into our new house today! :) What a relief, now my life can get back to normal.

October 2: 9 Weeks 4 days
Well I'm v confused to see all my comments have disappeared, hopefully they will just come back. Well to summarize I am 25 and have been married for 2yrs to Jose, a really sweet guy I met in college. He is apsolutely amazing and keeps me constantly laughing all the time, which is the best part I think about us. We did NOT plan this pregnancy, and had just moved to North Carolina and were living with my parents while we looked for a home to buy. It took us (well really just me) a few days to get used to it, but once I accepted it I suddenly became overwhelmingly happy and excited. So thats my story in a nutshell.

Anyways I had my 2nd ultra sound today! It was beautiful! Baby is about an inch long but you can see SO much more than last time (when he/she was the size of a pea... just a little dot. a cute little dot tho :) ). His little arms were up by his head and he was waving them around like crazy, very active for so young! He kicked his foot up once or twice too. You could see dark spots where his eyes are and his heart was beating fast! ADORABLE!! I was crying and my husband was freakin out too. I guess we weren't expecting to be able to see so much so soon! We thought it would look like just another pea, maybe double the size. Its crazy to think he/she is in me right now, dancin all around like that, when I can't feel it at all. Weird!! I feel so lucky that he/she is healthy, a little miracle.

You don't have to vaccinate for the HepB virus. I'm not going to right at birth, but may choose to when we go back for the other 2 month vaccinations. You have the right to pick whatever you think is best for your baby!

jenny1 - Thursday, 1 May
Hey!
Thanks for the post! I agree about how frustrating it is! I guess we just have to wait until the little one is ready! So hard to do! I have also started walking a lot...hopefully it works for us!
Take care and good luck. Keep me posted!

kms - Wednesday, 30 April
Hep. B is something they test you for early in your pregnancy. You would know if you were positive. You have the right to refuse any vaccine including Hep.B for your baby.

mrsjcarr - Wednesday, 30 April
hey there! I have been feeling the same way for the past 6 days! If you are in doubt please call L&D....Labor contractions can stay in your bottom and make you feel like you need to use the restroom...Always time your contractions, but in the end, listen to your body and go get checked out. Again I am feeling the same way right now.

kelsul - Tuesday, 29 April
um, well it does hurt, but it's nothing unbearable. i just tried my very very best to stay relaxed. but my husband was there so i got to squeeze his hand....LOL
it took less than a minute. but you do feel funny after. i just wanted an ice pack after haha. there was some spotting after too.
i feel fine now. just waiting for more contractions.

mom4aab - Tuesday, 29 April
Hi Thanks for the nice comments. I am so glad everything worked out too:) better then we could have ever hoped. Yeah I can't tell I am 5 cm dilated. I really feel no different. I have had very little contractions but I think a lot has to do with having an incompetant cervix. i'm not sure but I hope labor goes as well. I am hoping for fast and painfree. but i know that's probably wishful thinking. the only thing i notice is that she is lower then before but the doc never said how low she is. good luck to you!! I hope you have a painfree and fast delivery too :)
