This was at xmas, about 36 weeks along. Other than my belly growing, I actually LOST weight/fat from most areas of my body. (Don't worry, they are healthy! Doc just said my metabolism probably went up from carrying twins.)

I'm a little late in getting around to actually making this page... But here goes.
Overall my partner and I have been together about 7 years now. We've had our ups and downs, but we finally figured things out. Around April or May, I asked him how he felt about trying to have a baby. Admittedly, we never did use any "good" birth control like the pills, and had even had times where we didn't use any at all (we got lucky...) I didn't know it, but he was under the impression that one of us might be infertile, due to no accidents, and a previous false-positive pregnancy test which resulted in nothing. But he agreed... Boy were we in for a surprise!
I was 3 months before I got in for my first appointment, at which time I got an ultrasound. I remember lying there looking at the blobs and waves on the screen, thinking I saw two little creatures... But I held my breath, I didn't want to say anything until the Ultrasound tech confirmed it. I watched Shain off and on for his reaction; I knew he saw it too. Then it came, Karen, my tech, said "we have twins!" Oh god! I cried. I didn't think I could have more joy in me than I did at that moment. Two little babies... My first pregnancy... Anxiety set in with the happiness and I wondered... Can I do this??
My doctor (who is wonderful!) sat and talked with us. She informed us that multiples automatically made me high risk, and that there were more potential complications involved. I would need to be watched closely, visits with her every 2 weeks, and a visit to Ohio State University in Columbus, which thankfully is only an hour away. I only ended up going to OSU twice, however, as the second time the doctor there told me there was really no need to continue - Both babies were perfectly fine, growing together at a good ratio, no abnormalities, and nothing wrong with me. They were also the first to determine we were having a boy and a girl. At first Shain was disappointed as he was wanting boys, but as time went on, he quickly grew attached to the idea of a little girl, especially when we settled on her name. We decided to name her after his grandmother who we lost back in 2001. Going with the grandmother theme, we added his surviving grandmother who is currently ill with cancer to honor her, as well as my grandmother who has been gone for quite some time. Altogether her name comes to Georgia Jo-Lee. And for the boy we picked Dymitri Michael. Shain liked the meaning of the Russian Dimitri, meaning from the Earth. I believe we had those picked by the 5th or 6th month.
I was actually relieved to find out it was twins because it justified my exhaustion and appetite. I was ravenous and when I wasn't eating something I was sleeping! So it was nice to know I was "eating for three!"
Anyway - My joy simply grew over time. Every week brought more excitement. Everyone always asks if they are natural. I might be overly sensitive, but I actually take offense to that question due to my personal beliefs. And then, of course, comes the "are there twins in your family?" question. I hadn't really thought of it, but I am the first in my family to have twins since my grandmother. As far as I know there are NO twins whatsoever on my father's side. On my mom's side, my grandmother had two sets of identical girls. Altogether she had 7children, something like 15 grandchildren including me, and over 30 great grandchildren. And I was the only one to end up with twins that I know of!
As for Shain's family, there aren't any on his mom's side, but on his dad's, his grandmother was a twin, and had a set of twins herself. Needless to say she is excited! We are hoping she doesn't succumb to the cancer before the babies are here so she can meet them.
Aside from the usual pains and being tired, the pregnancy has been absolutely perfect. My doctor actually sounded surprised at our last visit. I am about 33 weeks as it stands, and have yet to have even a Braxton-Hicks contraction. She is asking me to make to Christmas, as if it is up to me! Haha! But she said after that, everything should be perfect for them and me healthwise.
I go back December 17th for a long ultrasound involving all the measurements. At that time we should be scheduling a January c-section. They are due on my birthday, but I believe my doctor is wanting to take them a week or two before that, so...

Still waiting! I have a doc appt on Thursday and my doc said she may take them then, depending on how much I `m dilated and everything. I was 1cm at my last visit Wednesday. Either way, the c-section is still on for Jan 17th which will be 39 weeks for me. I kind of wish they `d let me go to see how far I make it!But, the good news is, if I go into labor I am clear for delivery, there will be no preventative measures. My babies are almost here!!!

Alright, we have babies tomorrow!!! I went in for my presentation appointment today and nothing was wrong, I haven `t dilated past 1 cm over the past week, but my doctor said she would rather go ahead and get them. She doesn `t want to risk me getting sick (it `s getting colder here again), or having to come in as an emergency. But tomorrow is 38 weeks and 2 days, so it `s not that bad, as far as she is concerned we are in the clear, and as my ultrasound tech said, they are not little babies (we didn `t get an exact weight, but judging by their weight one month ago we expect each to be over 6 lbs.) Luckily we were prepared for this anyway as she told us last week she might take them before the 17th which was originally scheduled. I think the realization hit hubby pretty hard, lol. He had the same look he had when we first found out it was twins! Can `t wait!!!
