Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hello sweetheart, my thoughts are with you today as I just read you have your amnio today. I hope all goes well for you and your little angel. I have an amnio set for the 14 Oct and the days are really dragging by, my risk is close to your risk in having a downs bub but I'm sure we both will be giving birth to healthy little babies. Take care and let us know how you go.

Your story on the amino post page sounds so much like mine. You probably read my story as it was posted right before yours. Right down to the odds of the baby having Downs. Your partners reaction sounds like it was much like my bf's reaction too. I found out my risks when my dr called my at work one day.I couldn't stop crying for days. The fact that I couldn't come to terms with the possibility made up my mind that I needed to know for certain. Keep in mind the risks as well when you make your choice on whether or not to do the amniocentesis. The stats I was given was 1 in almost 150 chance of miscarriage doing the amnio. But, in fact the stats at my specific hospital were less than 1 in 200 chance of miscarriage. I thought it would be easier for myself someone who worked with mentally disabled (including Downs) for over 3 yrs to deal with. It wasn't. Keep in mind how personal a decision this is. Don't let anyone bully you into a decision one way or another. Good luck with your decision whichever route you go. Try to enjoy your 3D!!!

I forgot to tell you that I actually gave birth at 18 weeks. It was very traumatic to knowingly abort a fully formed baby and I am still suffering grief. this little boy is bringing up pain that I thought I had under control but what is done is done. i would not wish it upon anyone ever though. take care and I hope you keep in contact

Hi, I just read your piece in amnios. Last year when I was 38, I was pregnant and my stupid doctor didnt order me any 1st trimester tests. When I went to hospital to book in they asked me for the results and I told them they had all the test results I had. They sent me for the tests and my result was 1 in 16. I was also extremely shocked as I already have 3 children and they didnt do those tests then, My kids are 9 12 and 13. I spent a whole day worrying about what to do and personally have a really strong aversion to abortion for myself having been pregnant 3 times and given birth 3 times, so I really thought that I would not be able to go thru with a termination anyway, but I spoke to a good friend who told me her sister had an amnio and it didnt hurt and she told me not to worry about the risk of miscarriage. Suddenly the big unknown became a little clearer. I rang the hospital and spoke to someone there who recommended a guy to do it and had the same recommendation about this guy from a few people so I felt I could trust him. i went for the amnio the following day and the day after that, found out our boy did have downs syndrome. Once again, my friend helped me to see that I could not raise a child with downs syndrome and work and look after 3 of my own kids. and my family agreed. I was absolutely devastated, we all were. It just couldnt be happening, but the doctors at the hospital told me to act fast. I became very scared of the future for a son with downs syndrome not in the early years but when/if he got older as I am an older mum myself. it was not fair on anyone. so we agreed to the termination and it was the most devastating time of my life. How could I do this? My heart was in pain for the thought of our decision. But as soon as I agreed to it, I detached from my feelings and we went through with it. I was miserable for a few days crying all the time but returned to work as I am not one to sit around moping. Plus I had my 3 girls to get up for so we pushed on and had our grief as a family. I realised that nothing would change what happened no amount of tears was going to do anything so I stopped crying over it. We decided to focus on the future so began getting healthy and taking all sorts of vitamins and homeopathics and 3 months later on the first try became pregnant. I booked a cvs at 11 weeks and found out that our little boy was fine. It has been 9 days since I had him and he is gorgeous - the sunshine of my life + my girls of course. But I think and wonder about that little boy and how he would have been. If this little boy had been born with ds I would not be able to give him up whatsoever. I would do anything for him. I really hope you investigate and find out whether he or she has it and hope you dont have to go through the same thing I did. I am here if you need to talk. gotta go baby is crying

Hi! Congrats on the pregnancy! This is baby #2 for my hubby and me and we are so excited! I just wanted to comment on your comment about weight! THANK YOU! I have gained about 7-8 pounds and I thought that was ok, and then all these people are blah blah blah they lost all this weight and it's so discouraging. I have also been feeling great and feel lucky for that and have been trying to eat a stable healthy diet! I was just happy to hear someone comment on the weight issue! Glad to hear you're feeling well!

hey. good to see another young mum to be. sometimes i kinda feel that people think im too young to be having a baby. even though i've been married since 21 but i guess some people dont get that. dont feel alone i've been putting on lots of weight already and i feel huge. im looking forward to seeing a baby looking bump though. at the moment i just feel fat and am in the in between stage where people dont recognise that im pregnant. how are you going with your pregnancy?

Hi....dont worry about the meat, besides you can eat medium well meat, it doesnt have to be well done, and even if you at a few bites of the rare stuff (thats how I like it, so Im just skipping it, cause I cant eat the burnt leather) you would be fine too. its if your eating it all the time, not a few bites....dont worry about a thing. And soon enough well all be back at the suchi bar!! :) thank god.

Hi. Just wanted to find out if you are starting to feel better. Saw your comment in week 13 about sleeping. I only feel uncomfortable on my back because I am nervous about everything! This is my first pregnancy and I don't know what I'm doing. I get so paranoid about everything! Do you feel like that too? Things seem to be going smoothly for me though. The m/s is subsiding, but not completely gone yet. Hope you are feeling well and everything is good.

I remember when I was between 8-12 weeks, and now I'm going on 37 weeks.. time goes by so fast you won't believe it!

adriennella - Sunday, 27 July
It is really fun getting those things, and your time will come so soon! Even if you don't know the sex, you can get a cute yellow hat or something. Talk to you soon.

adriennella - Sunday, 27 July
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Oh my goodness, thank you so much for the comment on my baby's wardrobe! I love it, too. I was so fortunate to go to some amazing baby consignment stores to pick her up some fabulousness for her first year without spending much at all. Just curious, how on earth did you find that picture?

Hope your weekend is wonderful! Best wishes to you.

You're in what I considered the hardest part of pregnancy- too soon to feel baby move and only finding reassurance in symptoms and the heartbeat at dr. visits. I know it can be really scary- but basing it on how you feel could be very misleading. You may have a few good days and a few bad days in a row, and then start the cycle again. Some people barely feel anything at all the whole time- that could be you!! Maybe the initial surge of hormones got to you, but your body has become adjusted. I didn't feel sick at all til around week 8, then felt horrible, then felt GREAT in week 13, and then 14 and 15 were horrible. So there is just no telling. Keep us posted.

Mrspatton - Saturday, 26 July
Yes it does begin to feel like it has all been a dream and then WHAM you have symptoms again. Like others have said after 14 weeks you begin to question if you are even pregnant because you feel a lot better...then the 3rd starts and YOU ARE SURE AGAIN! Hang in there and enjoy it all. It goes faster than you think.
