DeeRod - Thursday, 6 November Congrats and good luck with the last few weeks of your pregnancy. I read your post on the breast feeding forward. The top advice that I can give you is not to give up! It takes a long time to feel comfortable and confident with the bf. Also DO NOT USE A BOTTLE for the first month, I can't stress that enough!!!! There will be times (mostly growth spurts) when you don't think the baby is getting enough but your supply will increase by the baby feeding more. Good luck and the nipple pain goes away after about 2 weeks.
mommyxs3 - Wednesday, 5 November My Ped. recommended 3-4 weeks if she was going to have it daily but she didn't get her first bottle until she was almost 6 weeks. I didn't want any chance of confusion or refusing to bf. I use the Breastflow bottle. She has done great with it. No problems switching back and forth. I've also never been the one to give her the bottle. My MIL watches her so she's always the one to feed her with the bottle. Then, she knows when mommy is around..she nurses. You're welcome and feel free to ask anything, anytime.
mommyxs3 - Wednesday, 5 November Not breastfeeding itself. I love it. It's actually very relaxing and wonderful. It's also amazingly convenient. The only part that gets stressful is pumping and making sure I have enough for the next day. For the longest time it wasn't a problem and this week she's having a growth spurt so her intake has gone up. It makes for a few stressing days until she levels back out but really, so far so good. I wouldn't change it for anything. I'm considering a 4th (yes, we're nuts! haha) and would definitely do it again. In fact, I don't want to think about stopping. It's the one way I get my little girl all to myself. Noone else can do what I can. LOL. Yes, it's a little selfish but after 9mo of carrying her I think any mom deserves that!
mommyxs3 - Wednesday, 5 November I'd say the key to bfing is dedication. You have want it. For me, I was unsuccessful with my first 2 children and now my 3rd is 3 months old and is soley bf. The first 2 months are the hardest and you have to take it one day at a time. I think going back to work and pumping has made the biggest challenges for me. I'm having a hard time keeping up with her demands. LOL. But, still....no supplementing and we're making it work. It's an amazing feeling. I know it's best for her and I love it. I have less PPD because of bfing and feel like I'm finally doing something right. You can do it. Every baby is different. Definitely use the lanolin. It does an amazing job on sore nipples. Most of all, keep your spirits up. :)
babybehappy - Wednesday, 5 November Congrats on your decision to breast feed! My advice is this: You will probably always worry if you are making enough milk. Don't drive your self crazy. If you have to supplement a bit, it's not the end of the world. I was so upset when I had to supplement but at the same time I felt better knowing my son was getting enough to eat. I took all the herbs that help increase your supply and sure enough I started make plenty of milk for him. Also, I heard that it takes 6 months to really get the breast feed down pat. I believe that now. Good luck, you can do this if it means that much too you!!

bdoe - Tuesday, 4 November I have heard that castor oil is a good way to induce. My doctor told me to take 1 tablesppon and wait 6-12 hours. If nothing happens, take another tablespoon. But I've had 2 friends use this method and it worked for them! I plan on doing it too!
