Baby Number One
September 1, 2007
After a very difficult pregnancy with lots of complications and scares, our precious son Nixon was born. He was 6lbs 9oz. and 18.5 inches long. What a blessing and joy he has been!
The pregnancy started out well, besides a bit of early spotting. At my 19 week ultrasound they told us he had ventriculomegaly. His brain ventricles measured in over the 9mm cutoff. Luckily after my 34 week ultrasound the ventricles had corrected. Had they not it could have meant hydrochepalus and shunts, learning delays and other anomolies. They feared he may have a trisomy associated with his enlarged ventricles. Lucky for us... everything turned out okay, thank god! During my several ultrasounds we were also told he had a left club foot, which was a little worrisome as the doctor didnt know if the brain ventricles and club foot were connected somehow and meant he would have some sort of disability.
At 35 weeks along I developed insane kidney pains. My doctor suspected an infection and I was put in the hospital on pain meds. After a week they released me on the meds, however they did not work, the pain was still there and horrible!! I spent a week at home with no sleep and in terrible pain and went in to see my doctor again for a checkup at 35.5 weeks. At this appointment she noticed my blood pressure was insanely high and she admitted me into the hospital then and there. After a day on meds with no sucess to bring it down I was taken to ICU and put on an intravenus drug. Again nothing was helping and they decided to induce me the next morning as I had developed pre-eclampsia. At 10am on Sept. 1, I was induced. By 5pm my kidney pains were so excrutiating that I could not get comfortable at all. I was checked and had not progressed at all from the induction. They checked babies heart rate and it was dropping. I was rushed for an emergency C-setcion and my precious son was born at 5:11pm.
He was four weeks early, yet perfect. His little left foot was curled up as they had told me, how sweet it looked! He also had hypospadia, however a very mild kind and didnt need any surgery to correct it. His blood sugar was a bit low, but other than that... he was healthy and I was so very thankful.
My son was treated using the ponsetti method and his foot is perfect, you never would have known it was club. He is the light of my life and I am so thankful he is here.
