A little about me.
|
Birth story We were having alot of complications the last few months of my pregnancy and we were in and out of the hospital, my longest consecutive stay was a bit over a week, but I was in and out of the hospital or stuck going to monitoring at the hospital 3 times a week on top of my regular appointments. Well my Dr. was getting concerned with all the stuff going on in my pregnancy and we decided to induce the baby a couple days after I hit the 38 week mark. It was Friday, the day I turned 38 weeks and we were getting ready to induce on Monday, I took a break from the hot house and went to the pool with my friends for a bit of a soak and my husband jokingly said " If this baby is anything like your last one, you will go into labor tonight" (my 3rd child was scheduled to be induced and I delivered her 3 days before the inducement date) I of course told him to hush up because we weren't quite ready. Well later that night he left for work and I was at home with the kids. I got everyone to bed and my son sent off to his sleepover. At 11pm on the dot I felt my first contraction. I had a few after that and decided to take a warm bath to relax. I timed the contractions till about 1am, while soaking in the bath, and they weren't completely consistant, some where 4 minutes apart and some as far as 8 minutes, so I just kept paying attention, thinking no way I am going into labor. Well about 1:3o, after I got out of the bath, the contractions got so strong, I couldn't deny it anymore and called my husband at work and told him to come home. I was in so much pain I couldn't move or think and was already screaming when the contractions were coming. My husband got pulled over on the way to get me and only because I was on the phone did the cop believe him, I guess he figured no one could fake those screams of pain lol so he got home and I came down stairs with my other 2 kids and we dropped them at a friends house. Now mind you, I had still not gotten all the stuff ready and left the house with nothing! No camera, no baby stuff, nothing, but at this point I didn't care, walking down 3 flights of stairs was hard enough, I didn't even make it all the way down before a big ol' contraction hit and down to my knees I went lol After we got the girls dropped off and got to the hospital, we were walking in and another big one hit before I got to the door, so here I am in the parking lot, squating and screaming in pain, my poor husband looking bewildered ( Asher is his first child) he hadn't witnessed labor before. We finally get in and they get me up to the delivery room and I am already dialated to 5 so we know this will be fast. It is about 2:20 am on Saturday now and they call the Dr. About 3:10 am I decide to ask for meds so she gave me morphine, just a small injection because she said it was too late and probobly wont work...she was right, it did NOTHING for the pain. The rest of the labor was fast and painful, it was one long contraction that seemed to never end. The Dr. came and broke my water, turns out Asher had a bowel movement in me so they were conserned about aspiration and put the oxygen mask on me, I am clausterphobic so that didn't go over well, at this point I am in such hard labor that I didn't care what they said, I kept taking the mask off...then my body started pushing on its own, I had no control, the nurse sent for the Dr. again and when he came in she told him there would be no control over this delivery, baby was coming fast, and sure enough, my body pushed him out after just a couple pushes and loud screams. I had no say in what my body did, I have never felt so out of control before. The Dr. didn't even have time to stretch my skin so I ripped and tore quite a bit. But he came out and let out a cry and was the most wonderful thing to see! They are right, every delivery is different, I had such different experiances with all 4 of my deliveries. But each one was so equally rewarding! |
