Ok, it's about time I created a real page! My name is Dawn and I'm 27 years old. I have been with my husband for almost 8 years, we met 11/00 on an online dating site, we got married 8/05 and had our son 9/07. I currently work full-time, mostly from home and am able to bring my son with me on the days I do go into the office. Our only pet is a black lab mix (mutt) named Pepper who is 3 years old.

Here is a picture of our wedding party. Let me know who you think Travis' looks like :-).

Here is a picture of our first baby:

She is a little spoiled with her own couch and she loves to sleep on pillows!

This is Pepper's popeye face.

And now for our second baby, here is his birth story:

Travis was born 9/2/08 via c-section at 2:41pm. My water broke around 4:30 am so my husband and I showered and then headed to the hospital. They started pitocin around 7am and probably about half an hour later, my contractions became extremely painful and were 2 minutes apart. I barely had time to catch my breath in between and decided that if I was going to eventually cave to the epidural I might as well do it early on. The epidural was ok, he put it in too far to one side and sent shooting pains up that side but then the next attempt was a success. I progressed fairly quickly and was excited at how fast my labor was going. My sister and Mom had really long labors with their first babies so I had been prepared for an all day/night affair. I guess it was probably a little after 2pm that I was fully dilated and ready to push. I pushed through three contractions and Travis' heartrate plummeted and wouldn't go back up to an acceptable rate. He was still at -2 station so they knew that there was no way he was going to tolerate being born naturally. After the third time I pushed the nurse put an oxygen mask on my face, paged my doctor, and got my husband his surgery gear to put on. It all happened fairly quickly but in my head it was like a slow motion horror film. I could still move my toes when they started cutting and the anesthesiologist didn't believe me. He asked me where it hurt and I said right above my pubic area. He told me that they weren't even near there (not sure what he was looking at as that's exactly where my scar is) but he did keep pushing drugs and right before they pulled my son out I was finally pain free. It was the most traumatic experience of my life so far even though it was a fairly uncomplicated birth compared to a lot of other women. No one said a word to me before my husband came in or after he left with the baby. He was probably only in the operating room for 3 minutes tops. I felt so alone and scared. I kept telling myself to be calm and that if I started to freak out it would take away from what they were trying to do and it would prolong getting my baby out. Right before they wheeled me into the operating room they put a monitor on Travis' head and I could hear his heartbeat which was scary as it kept stopping! I knew that I wanted him out for his own safety but in no way was this how I had planned his birth to go. After I was all stitched up, which took an eternity, I was wheeled to the recovery room and kept asking to see my baby. I wanted to start breastfeeding as soon as possible as I knew that that was what you are supposed to do. Breastfeeding was a nightmare at first but eventually, probably weeks into it, we finally figured it out!

Happy Birthday Travis! He was 7lbs 15oz and 21.5 inches long.

Daddy and his babies :-)

Our little monkey for Halloween.

when did you start giving your lil man baby food?

missjess - 22.4 hours ago
thanks for the reply. yeah, i just went to the pedia. today n she said the same thing about the baby powder n that it wont really help with the diaper rash anyhow. she told me the reason its not goin away is b/c he poos so much from breastfeeding. But she said instead of using Desitin to use a triple ointment, thats better. it seems to be clearing up a little bit. she said to air it out, but i dont know how ima do that cuz hes constantly pooing! :) tahnks, your baby is so cute too!

Thanks for the comments on my page. I laughed out loud when you wrote Maddie looks like an angel. We always say that the devil horns are poking out from under her halo! Don't get me wrong, she is our PRINCESS, but she has a devilsh side about her - don't let anyone tell you about the Terrible Two's - it is the Three's that is more trying. Yesterday, she came into the kitchen, while I was feeding the boys, and says, " I needed a haircut." I looked over at her, and noticed that she had trimmed her hair in front - not bad, but I didn't want to encourage the behavior. When I asked her why, she said, " I was making myself beautiful." Oh man, I hope the boys aren't watching EVERYTHING that she does! Have a Great Day!

We had a pretty rough night, she was starving for some reason and it took me a bit to figure it out. She will usually eat one 4 oz bottle in the night and last night she ate three 4 oz bottles within 90 minutes!!! I haven't been feeding her her solid like ususal becasue I wanted to keep her hydrated with lotsa liquids.

Her fever does seem to have gone down a lot and she was in a GREAT mood before bed. She can't breath out of her nose and it interferes with her sleeping. I will see how the rest of the morning goes and if she feels icky again (going to let ibuprofen wear off) I'll take her to the doc for another dose of antibiotics. The Dr just called and all her tests came back negative so it's just a virus.

I'm worn out! Whew! I am going to take her to the park I have GOT to get out of this house! It's GORGEOUS outside and the park is just around the corner, we'll just sit and hang out for a minute...

Thanks for your concern!
Nikki

I heard reviews that the stand up phase is not sturdy at all, but I guess it could be worth a try. The only reason I hadn't converted it yet was becuase of those reviews. Nicholas is definitely too big to sit in the seat :)

Nicholas has the same Saucer and STILL loves playing with it. He walks around it and plays with the toys now, but still loves it!

OMG that's so funny Gage is the same way around kids! He loves them!!!! Target has some great sunglasses and hats that actually protect from uva and uvb rays. I got Gage trunks a matching hat and sunglasses that all protect. The best part was that the price was awesome.

Glad you guys had a good time!!!!

Thanks for the info! I know it'll be a struggle and I have been reading everywhere about everything but getting first hand knowledge from moms who have had to do the same thing is worth more to me than what any book can tell me!
My main concern is that I didn't want to start pumping too early...I'm also one of those moms that makes sure she has way too much stuff for her kids in case any one of the fifty million things goes wrong out of the blue lol!
But thank you again for the info, I know I'll be frequenting that page a lot over the next year and such!

Hey there!

Thanks so much for the advice! I was looking at one made by Musetela and it's supposed to be great for sensitive skin and has all the ingredients you were talking about.

Let me know how Travis does in the sun today!
