Ok, it's about time I created a real page! My name is Dawn and I'm 27 years old. I have been with my husband for almost 8 years, we met 11/00 on an online dating site, we got married 8/05 and had our son 9/07. I currently work full-time, mostly from home and am able to bring my son with me on the days I do go into the office. Our only pet is a black lab mix (mutt) named Pepper who is 3 years old.

Here is a picture of our wedding party. Let me know who you think Travis' looks like :-).

Here is a picture of our first baby:

She is a little spoiled with her own couch and she loves to sleep on pillows!

This is Pepper's popeye face.

And now for our second baby, here is his birth story:

Travis was born 9/2/08 via c-section at 2:41pm. My water broke around 4:30 am so my husband and I showered and then headed to the hospital. They started pitocin around 7am and probably about half an hour later, my contractions became extremely painful and were 2 minutes apart. I barely had time to catch my breath in between and decided that if I was going to eventually cave to the epidural I might as well do it early on. The epidural was ok, he put it in too far to one side and sent shooting pains up that side but then the next attempt was a success. I progressed fairly quickly and was excited at how fast my labor was going. My sister and Mom had really long labors with their first babies so I had been prepared for an all day/night affair. I guess it was probably a little after 2pm that I was fully dilated and ready to push. I pushed through three contractions and Travis' heartrate plummeted and wouldn't go back up to an acceptable rate. He was still at -2 station so they knew that there was no way he was going to tolerate being born naturally. After the third time I pushed the nurse put an oxygen mask on my face, paged my doctor, and got my husband his surgery gear to put on. It all happened fairly quickly but in my head it was like a slow motion horror film. I could still move my toes when they started cutting and the anesthesiologist didn't believe me. He asked me where it hurt and I said right above my pubic area. He told me that they weren't even near there (not sure what he was looking at as that's exactly where my scar is) but he did keep pushing drugs and right before they pulled my son out I was finally pain free. It was the most traumatic experience of my life so far even though it was a fairly uncomplicated birth compared to a lot of other women. No one said a word to me before my husband came in or after he left with the baby. He was probably only in the operating room for 3 minutes tops. I felt so alone and scared. I kept telling myself to be calm and that if I started to freak out it would take away from what they were trying to do and it would prolong getting my baby out. Right before they wheeled me into the operating room they put a monitor on Travis' head and I could hear his heartbeat which was scary as it kept stopping! I knew that I wanted him out for his own safety but in no way was this how I had planned his birth to go. After I was all stitched up, which took an eternity, I was wheeled to the recovery room and kept asking to see my baby. I wanted to start breastfeeding as soon as possible as I knew that that was what you are supposed to do. Breastfeeding was a nightmare at first but eventually, probably weeks into it, we finally figured it out!

Happy Birthday Travis! He was 7lbs 15oz and 21.5 inches long.

Daddy and his babies :-)

Thanks for your reassurance! I'm not stressing anymore about it. He's happy, energetic and healthy. String bean or not, lol. I guess I've never seen Travis' pics before tonight. He's gorgeous!

Hi, me again. My milk is back down to 1 oz total per pump again. it seems the fenugreek worked at first but not now. I'm not giving up..just started 5 days ago but was told it should be working by now. I also think I have a depression side effect from it as I have cried every day since being on it. I also have a bad head ache for 2 days and I don't get head aches and its possible my baby is getting tummy aches from it too. or it could be the mothers milk tea too, drinking 4 of that a day. I'm also eating the thick oats twice a day and the fenugreek 8 caps / day. I'l stick it out for a couple of weeks, these sideeffect...if that's what they are may go away. oh, I just invented a pumping bra. I just took a old one that connects in front and cut horizontally and stuck the pump things in..I'm typing this while pumping! I'm going to try to order motillium on the internet tonight..u don't know a good site do u? I was just going to use one posted on that kelly site.

Thanks, I worry about introducing cow's milk. I also hear about the fats in milk that toddlers need. I know our content is best but I want to be sure he is getting everything. It's all so confusing. I'm so glad that you are still feeding and able to help me out. I think you and I are the only ones with "older" babies that are still feeding, at least that come to the breastfeeding page.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Sx

Sorry I have another breat feeding question for you. I heard that eating things makes the milk taste differently. So I was wondering what hotsauce, or hot foods do to the milk? I love hot food sooo much! Or what food should you stay away from?

I love the pic of your son with the constume with ears on it...so cute. http://www.godtube.com/view_video.php?viewkey=c975d005cd2c4d261f7f

hi, I talked with a lactation lady at the hospital I delivered at. i'm allergic to reglan..was on it for reflux and i'd rather die than take that again. it really messed with my head. she told me to try fenugreek. so I went last night and bought some at the store. am taking 8/day and drinking mothers milk tea and had a bowl of old fashion oatmeal. Ill let u know how it goes.

Hey thankyou for your comment on my blog, I hope I start to feel better, I don't want to feel like this.

tove - Friday, 3 October
I ordered fennugreek and two other herbs online tonight. I pumped forever and did manage to get out almost 2 oz. I had to give formula, baby was screaming too long and was fed up with trying on me. Even my husband said..I think u better feed him something else. a lot of people have told me oh ur making enough just keep feeding..but unless ur there with me and have to hear him obviously hungry..they just don't know. Weird about the oatmeal but I will try it. Your other ideas I'll try too. poor little guy is knocked out now after finally eating. Just wish it was from me not a stupid can..lol thx again
