Ok, it's about time I created a real page! My name is Dawn and I'm 27 years old. I have been with my husband for almost 8 years, we met 11/00 on an online dating site, we got married 8/05 and had our son 9/07. I currently work full-time, mostly from home and am able to bring my son with me on the days I do go into the office. Our only pet is a black lab mix (mutt) named Pepper who is 3 years old.

Here is a picture of our wedding party. Let me know who you think Travis' looks like :-).

Here is a picture of our first baby:

She is a little spoiled with her own couch and she loves to sleep on pillows!

This is Pepper's popeye face.

And now for our second baby, here is his birth story:

Travis was born 9/2/08 via c-section at 2:41pm. My water broke around 4:30 am so my husband and I showered and then headed to the hospital. They started pitocin around 7am and probably about half an hour later, my contractions became extremely painful and were 2 minutes apart. I barely had time to catch my breath in between and decided that if I was going to eventually cave to the epidural I might as well do it early on. The epidural was ok, he put it in too far to one side and sent shooting pains up that side but then the next attempt was a success. I progressed fairly quickly and was excited at how fast my labor was going. My sister and Mom had really long labors with their first babies so I had been prepared for an all day/night affair. I guess it was probably a little after 2pm that I was fully dilated and ready to push. I pushed through three contractions and Travis' heartrate plummeted and wouldn't go back up to an acceptable rate. He was still at -2 station so they knew that there was no way he was going to tolerate being born naturally. After the third time I pushed the nurse put an oxygen mask on my face, paged my doctor, and got my husband his surgery gear to put on. It all happened fairly quickly but in my head it was like a slow motion horror film. I could still move my toes when they started cutting and the anesthesiologist didn't believe me. He asked me where it hurt and I said right above my pubic area. He told me that they weren't even near there (not sure what he was looking at as that's exactly where my scar is) but he did keep pushing drugs and right before they pulled my son out I was finally pain free. It was the most traumatic experience of my life so far even though it was a fairly uncomplicated birth compared to a lot of other women. No one said a word to me before my husband came in or after he left with the baby. He was probably only in the operating room for 3 minutes tops. I felt so alone and scared. I kept telling myself to be calm and that if I started to freak out it would take away from what they were trying to do and it would prolong getting my baby out. Right before they wheeled me into the operating room they put a monitor on Travis' head and I could hear his heartbeat which was scary as it kept stopping! I knew that I wanted him out for his own safety but in no way was this how I had planned his birth to go. After I was all stitched up, which took an eternity, I was wheeled to the recovery room and kept asking to see my baby. I wanted to start breastfeeding as soon as possible as I knew that that was what you are supposed to do. Breastfeeding was a nightmare at first but eventually, probably weeks into it, we finally figured it out!

Happy Birthday Travis! He was 7lbs 15oz and 21.5 inches long.

Daddy and his babies :-)

Our little monkey for Halloween.

Christmas '07.

Travis laughing at Daddy clearing his throat :-).

Making funny noises with his tongue

Riding his car

Feeding Pepper Cheerios

Walking to Daddy, First steps!

Making silly faces

Laughing at Daddy "throwing" rain water.

We use the day bed to change her and it just turns into a wrestling match! I blink and she's rolled over and standing on the railing. If you look really hard you can see her top teeth in that picture, makes her look so grown up!
I put the food on the fork and hand the fork to her and she puts it in her mouth, it kills me! I love it but if I'm in a hurry I'm screwed, she wants to take whatever I'm using to feed her out of my hand, of course.
Your videos are adorable!

Thanks I will get it a try..

Some times I get good burps or spit up on and sometimes its like he just throws it all back up. I have tried the expressing mil after feeding him and I do still have milk coming out. He is really hard to burp either it comes really easy or not at all.

I totally agree with you in the breastfeeding forum.. some docs clearly don't know what the hell they are talking about when it comes to the issue of breastfeeding versus formula feeding... I think some docs mistaken the weight gain of a formula fed baby with a breastfed baby and think that the breastfeed baby should be in line with the formula ones... formula babies tend to over feed and wind up a bit heavier than breast babies because they don't have control over the milk that comes out the bottle ..with breast babies they control what they want how much they want and what they need to take... I wish mothers wouldn't worry about why their newborns feed constantly or if they aren't making enough milk.. it is discouraging when a doc makes a mother feel like her own production in milk is useless..shame on those docs who are not advocates of breast feeding

Wow thanks for remembering what day the MRI was! It went really well. Thanks for the advice on the numbing gel, but they knocked him unconscious with gas before putting the IV in. I got to be there with him while they knocked him out, so that was really nice. They tried to start an IV twice in his ankle but couldn't, and ended up starting it on the back of his hand. They also intubated him and bagged him because the drug they use in the IV paralyzes his breathing...scary! But he is doing great now. The wake-up time was a bit rough, but all done with now. We get results tomorrow.

Here's what Mo is eating: APPLES, PRUNES, PEARS, BANANAS, PEACHES, SWEET POTATOES, BEANS, PEAS, CARROTS, AND SQUASH. I was thinking of plums or apricots next.

niseybear - Wednesday, 11 June
Mo's newest foods are carrots, peaches, and beans. He's not too crazy about the beans but when I mix them with a fruit or another veggie he does alright. NOW....I just gotta figure out a new fruit for him now! Any suggestions? He's 6 months.

juliealisesmommy - Tuesday, 10 June
I AGREED WITH WHAT YOU SAID. MY DAUGHTER HAD HIGH FEVER FOR LIKE 2 DAYS ON AND OFF AND NOW THAT THE FEVER IS GONE THE RASH APPEARED. SO I SHOULDNT WORRY ABOUT IT UNLESS IT DOESNT GO AWAY??

JenMN - Tuesday, 10 June
Thanks for all your sweet comments on the picks! No problem about the coupons. I got a couple in the mail today so that is what reminded me about your coupons. Yep, I only seem to get them every couple of months now. The kicker is that I just went out and bought a few cans of formula before I got the coupons.

JenMN - Monday, 9 June
I know what you mean....it's just amazing how fast they are learning stuff right now. It's so exciting to me, because Connor is starting to mimic stuff. Like yesterday I was teaching him how to use his finger and thumb to pick up cheerios, and he was mimicking me. I feel like he's a blank slate and there is soooo much cool stuff I can teach him as soon as he's ready!! Oh by the way if you still have those similac coupons, we use similac.

Terah - Monday, 9 June
I called the doc today and they said I didn't need to bring ACE in unless his hives lasted longer than 4 days or spread to his face. My husband is REALLY not feeling well. ACE and Eli are doing a little better than yesterday, but both still sick. I'm JUST starting to get it.

SueUK - Monday, 9 June
Fabulous vidoes!! So cute, Love the laugh..... You have a wooden floor, does Travis walk on it ok? Ours is wooden and I think it's quite slippery, especially with just socks on. Does Travis fall more on the wood that the carpet? Just wondering...I'll find out soon enough I suppose!

Terah - Monday, 9 June
That's so cute with his mouth! I can't believe he can ride that car so good! Wow! Eli still doesn't even reach the ground on his!

JenMN - Monday, 9 June
Hi there! Oh my gosh Travis' laugh is soooo cute! I love baby laughs!! And that is so cool that he is making his ride-on toy move by himself...Connor is finally able to balance well on his toys, but can't move them forward like that (well he can walk behind them and push them, but can't move them while he's sitting on them).

Terah - Sunday, 8 June
hahahaha! I know what you mean about the baby voice talk. I do it too! I'll add the 6 month video soon. I have it saved to a cd, so I have to figure out how to get it from there. My house is a mess in it! You can see they dumped all the books in the background. It's all toys and child stuff, but I hate to put stuff up that makes me look like a slob because I'm really not. lol
