My Mothering Style:

I breastfeed only. I only let him use a bink at night and I am trying to wean him of it. My milk is top priority! I don't drink any caffeine, soda or alcohol EVER. I never eat junk food or fast food. I eat as much organic foods as possible. I don't dye my hair, paint my nails or use any products on my body that aren't nature derived or that have any words in the ingredient list that I am unsure of their source. My shampoo is even organic... and so is Conrads! I believe in cuddling him as much as he wants in the day time but at night, if his daiper is clean and his belly is full- then it is time for bed, and he already understands this. In the daytime we talk, do a lot of tummy time activities and stretches. This is my routine so far! I hope it doesn't scar him for life :) !!

Conrad was born 8 days ago, on June 6, 2008 at 10:19 AM. He was 5 pounds 6 ounces and 19 inches long. He was about 5 weeks early. He was just realeased from the hospital yesterday, after a one week stay. It was tough living at the hospital - we are so happy to be home, especially in time for Father's Day tomorrow.

33 weeks and 5 days. Baby shower this weekend!! I am really excited and nervous at the same time.

Sunday, May 4, 2008-

The nursery is done! Take a look:

Friday, May 2, 2008-

31 weeks and the crib is coming today! The crib is coming today! We've been waiting since the beginning of March! I can't wait to see it and to put the mattress and bedding in it.... Oh, I can't wait to get off work. Then this weekend we will match paint swatches to the crib to get the right white paint so we can paint the rest of the furniture to match the crib. I've gained 30 pounds so far!

Saturday, March 15, 2008-

My birthday is in 2 days. I barely even care. It is all about my little boy now. Blake and my mom are almost done touching up the paint in the nursery. We put up the border and the new fan for the ceiling. Everything is wonderful. I've decided to have a natural birth in the hospital. It sounds very scary, but I want to try it. And, I'm pretty sure we are naming him Conrad William.

Saturday, March 8, 2008-

I'm almost 23 weeks. Yesterday we sent out our baby shower invitations! Each one has a little glittery duck on the front of a light blue card. It will be on May 25th. I have a lot of energy now, especially on the weekends! We get so much done too. A few more weeks and we should have the nursery finished. We picked Animal Antics crib set by Sumersault. Our Gift Registry is all set up and ready for people to start buying our little baby stuff. I can feel him a lot at night and a little bit throughout the day.

Monday, February 18, 2008-

We bought our baby a stroller last night! It is an Eddie Bauer, brown/light blue/light green combo! I love it. Now I just need a baby to put in it...

Wednesday, February 13, 2008-

We're having a baby boy! The ultrasound tech thinks the due date is actually July 14th, but my OB wants to keep the original due date of July 7th, 2008. I guess since that was the original date estimated at the beginning, it is the most accurate.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008-

Tomorrow at 4pm Blake and I will be finding out the sex of our first baby! I am so excited. In about 20 minutes I will be getting my first pre-natal massage. Ahhh, relaxation. Despite coming down with a cold yesterday, something tells me this is going to be a good week.

Monday, February 4, 2008-

I'm 18 weeks today and I love my maternity clothes. They're the best. I've begun the baby gender count down. Eight more days until we find out if our baby is a boy or a girl. I am also starting to get baby presents/hand me downs, which I think is funny, because it is either blue stuff or pink stuff. We'll see!

Sunday, January 20, 2008 -

I'm 16 weeks tomorrow, and I'm starting to show. I went into San Francisco today and met up with my best friend Lucy and her friend Mary. We walked around the wharf, Pier 39 and then we drove to the Sutro Bath House ruins. All that activity wore me out. Now I'm extra sleepy. February 13th we find out if I'm having a boy or a girl!

Wednesday, January 9, 2008 -

We went to the doctors today. She couldn't find our babies heart beat, which was disapointing. But everyone expected to see a new ultra sound picture today, so it worked out nicely because she wasn't planning on doing an ultra sound, but then she had too. The baby was fine, and we could see the heart beating on the screen, she just couldn't find it with the doppler. Tonight I ate boiled baby beets and goat cheese. It was so delicious. Oh, and of course she couldn't tell if our baby is a boy or a girl yet!

Tuesday, January 8, 2008 -

Tomorrow Blake and I will be going to the doctors again. I will be 14 weeks 1 day tomorrow. I've gained 5 pounds since pre pregnancy and I've been feeling pretty good lately, except the nightly heartburn. Blake thinks that if our baby is a boy, then we will definately know tomarrow...what a guy thing to say...sheeesh!

Sunday, December 30, 2007 -

We just got back from touring the labor and delivery department of our hospital. I was definately the least pregnant woman at the tour! I guess I'm just extra excited. And I saw the movie Juno today. I really liked it. It was sweet. I don't plan on giving my baby up for adoption, like the girl in the movie does, but it was still sweet... and really funny. I recommend it.

Saturday, December 29, 2007 -

I'm in my 12th week and I really want to know if it is a boy or girl. I am really lucky to not have morning sickness that bad, only if I see something gross. Because I have a kidney stone, my gyno has me taking antibiotics for my whole pregnancy. It makes me really sad. I really resisted at first, but the consequences of not taking them are so much worse. I HATE medicine!! My next appt. is in a week an a half.

Hey there! Thanks so much for all the tips , they will def come in handy next time he falls asleep (tonight Im SURE) Its funny, in this day and age we almost are taught not to trust our instincts , Im sure if Id never read anything about it I whould not have ever even questioned the whole thing.
By the way your little one is adorable :)

Thank you so much for your reply. I will try the nipple shield...I knew parenting was not going to be easy...but seeing him suffer makes me so upset. hope all is going well with you and Conrad!!

benjamink - Monday, 21 July
Hey there, Tobey is great...he's a regular little piggy! I'm surprised you remembered my dilemma lol...we ended up compromising. I breastfed for the first two weeks and introduced formula last week in addition to breastfeeding. I'll do both for 2-3 weeks then it'll be formula only. The funny part(or awful, depending on how you look at it) is that bd has totally shut down! After the baby was born he seriously withdrew; he has never even asked how his son is doing, or for new pictures or anything of the sort. So all my worrying about what to do was for nothing, almost...at least Tobey got some benefit from the whole thing!

How is Conrad doing? He looks big, what is his weight now? How is being a new mommy treating you?

smerty - Saturday, 19 July

I love the pic of Conrad on your page! His eyes are awesome. Ian Ryley was born on Saturday! We are working hard on latching for breasteeding and we are having some success with nipple shields. he has jaundice and his levels are rising so we might be heading in for light therapy. I love being a Mom and I have so much to learn! I liked reading about your mothering style.

veroki - Tuesday, 15 July
thanks! ill check it out!

HAHAHAHA LOVE THAT!!! I mean... forever!!! I am so stealing that when I tell my grandmother we cannot come!

Thanks on the house comment! WE LOVE IT! I am starting work again monday and can't wait to get over there with my two little men! So much more room and less neighbors than this annoying apartment!

I am JUST starting to cook real meals again... but love to cook... I will e-mail you some easy recipies on myspace... hopefully tomorrow or monday! I cooked some mad good pork chops last night and great soy/garlic steaks the night before... super easy and GOOD!!! I borrowed a baby sling from Samuel's mom and it lets me cook with two hands and hold him... but he is covered from heat and danger! It is great... you should get one... nice to have two hands again!!!

I agree with you on the road trip stuff! I use to riad trip every few weeks to FL an GA but with a baby it is a little different! kind of happy that the doc said no travel yet :0) Blame it on her and not me hahahaha!!!

Ok... Colin is waking up so i will let you go... I rock at one hand typing now haha have a good one!

smerty - Thursday, 10 July
Yeah he never really cries :0) It is funny!

I do use the aspirator but I never get much cause his congestion is so high up! He just chills when I do it... but then again he chills when I do anything haha! Samuel use to scream like crazy too... I think it is all in the personality of the child... Samuel was vocal about EVERYTHING when he was a baby... and now he is a HUGE TALKER haha... funny how that works!

We were planning on driving as well... Atlanta is about 6 1/2 hours from here... but doctor says since he was in the NICU and may have other health issues (maybe immune since his cord did not fall off until treated... fell odd yesterday... AND might have blood clotting issue...) I guess they just want us to be extra careful... they say the pollen and air are all different there and they would rather us wait until his January check-up... we may go at Christmas if they clear us at that point... I want my grandmother to meet her first great-grandbaby when he is still tiny :0)

And Jason finally did a dish the day we got home... don't think I had every witnessed that before haha... I did not make a big deal out of it BUT I just about passed out hahaha! He seems to be much happier and never really bitched about the petty stuff he use to... like stupid drivers or people at work... it is nice for him to come home and actually have something positive to talk about :0) It is like the baby made him mature and look at the BIG picture rather than himself... he was great before... now he is WONDERFUL :0) Can't wait for the next baby and what changes he or she may bring!!!
