Since my schedule as a grad student is so flexible, my husband and I decided it would be a good time to have our first child! I found out I was pregnant at the end of July 2007, and am due on April 2nd, 2008, which I think is perfect! That way our little baby will begin her life just in time for spring, when all kinds of other signs of life are emerging outside. (Also, April 2nd is just late enough that I still got to teach during Winter quarter.)

My pregnancy has been amazingly easy and uneventful. I didn't have any morning sickness, and discomfort has been relatively low. I've also been able to keep my weight under control without trying too hard. My biggest problem throughout has been low energy, which is especially true now that I'm full term. I feel 5-10 Braxton Hicks contractions every day, but I don't really feel like this little girl is going to come out anytime too soon. I'm basically expecting her to be pretty "late"! But I know I still need to have everything ready to go now just in case, which is hard because we may have to stay in this stage of extreme anticipation for a few weeks still! Can't wait to meet my daughter!

Yep, its alot of work and commitment, but it's a wonderful gift for our babies, sound kinda cheesy, but true!

This book has an entire section on traveling with your baby. I have ready many baby books and this one seems to be the most practical and covers everything.

It is crazy how much everything changes. Your entire life changes so fast. It is worth it of course but it certainly takes some adjusting.

I don't know how long of a flight you are going on, but try not to bring too much stuff onboard the plane. People come on with so much stuff, they can't manage it and expect others around them to carry all of their things. If you can plan it right, try to feed the baby shortly before getting on the plane or right when you get on the plane so that the baby can maybe sleep. It's just hard to know what to expect. Babies act so differently on the plane. I've seen many babies on the plane and the parents who are well prepared usually have babies that do OK. When parents come on all flustered, the baby seems to get all flustered too. Good luck with your travels!

10 ounces! I'm jealous, I would never be able to get that much- when my boobs are real hard, I still only get 3 1/2 ounces at the most!

Oh how precious, doesn't time go by so fast. I am looking at that newborn face and thinking that I sorta miss that stage already. That is ok though because I am having a lot of fun with this stage.

I'm covered in spit up all the time too. My baby is 6 weeks and she doesn't seem to spit up as much as she did even week ago. I hope this trend continues.

Ha! i have to admit I have him alot of dates already! :) He seems to have picked a little girl at day care that he is crazy about already. They just look at eachother and smile. I think its because they speak the same language! Hope you are getting a little sleep in. Its tough I know, but you will be shocked on how little sleep you can actually function. I dont expect you to worry about writing back all the time. I didn't get online again pretty much until I went back to work 2 months after he was born!
