May 16 2008

So i havent written on here in a super long time so i figure i will drop a little update. So far everything is running smoothly. I had a few minor contractions at 29 weeks, but nothing serious. I am aiming to have the baby the 4th of july. I will be 37 weeks then and thats the safe zone for having my home birth.

I plan on video taping the whole birth and will post pictures as well. Call me crazy but i feel as thou it is a very natural thing to go thorough labour and i know that I am ready and can do it with out the use of any drugs. We were made to do this and i will embrace that. I believe i have a very powerful mind, and when you put mind over matter you can get through anything, labour doesnt last forever. In the end i will be happy, and proud that i did it the way i wanted to!

I know that with my family there to support me that this is going to be an amazing experiance.

Well we just got home from our ultrasound and ITS A BOY!!!

We are so excited for boy number 2 to come! His big brother is so excited for him to be here! Only 22 more weeks to go!

Well, here i am going for number 2!! The first one was very very difficult as i went into preterm labour at 29 weeks. That was soo scary, I was in the hospital for 2 days and we got the labour to stop. I had injections in my legs of surfactant to help mature the babies lungs. Good thing they did that as 3.5 weeks later i began having pains in my tummy, they were normal, but different, i didnt think anything was wrong, slept on it. The next day i had them still and called the midwife and went to the office. She checked me and when she did there was a lot of blood that was trapt in the uterus as the babies head was blocking it from coming out. We went stright to the hospital, and i had my baby 2 hrs later. Talk about terrifying... I had a natural birth with no drugs. Thats how i wanted it.

Now with my second i am hoping to go on bedrest early so that i can avoid any bad things from happening this time. I am planning on having my baby at home as long as i make it to 37 weeks then i should be able to do so.

I have an amazing family and am so excited to be adding this new member!

Hello...I just wanted to tell you what happened during my version with my first daughter. It is great that it has worked for some women, I just wish it had worked for me with my first. I am an unusual case too though, keep in mind. I supposedly have/had a septum or something that was/is in my uterus and kept my daughter from being able to turn. My doctor schedule me for the version around 37 weeks. I wasn;t crazy about the idea of this procedure but I was willing to do anything to prevent me from having a c-section. I had nurses and midwives telling me that I should "talk to the baby" and tell her that I need her to turn for me. They said to visualize her turning head down. They also told me to do little exercises kinda like a downward dog in yoga where you put your butt way in the air so that the baby wants to turn. A couple nights before my version was scheduled I felt my daughter turn herself sideways. There was great pressure, but then it subsided and she went back to her vertical position. Anyways...to make a long story short, my daughter got stuck head up. The version didn't work because she was stuck in place by something. During the version attempt though, my placenta was partially torn off and I started bleeding so badly that they had to do an emergency c-section right away. I realize this is a risk for women that do not have any abnormalities with thier uterus as well, but I am sure it is a lot less common. My advice to you is simply talk to your baby. Tell him that you need him to turn head down, and constantly visualize him doing so. I know it sounds funny, but my daughter tried and so did my neice at 38 weeks. My sister did talk to her daughter and did the visualization techniques and my neice turned on her own at 38 weeks. I guess it is worth it to give it a try. You only have his movement to gain. :) I wish you the best! I will peek at your page later on to see what happens. Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
Take care,
Alma
