I have only just really found out I am pregnant due to not having any periods since August 2006 ( still not found out why ) , and being on microgynon ( contraceptive pill ) . I mistook my pregnancy symptoms for being on the pill and having hypothyroidism , if you dont know what this is it basically slows down your muscles and makes you feel very tired quite alot of the time.

I finally deceided to take a pregnancy test after my boobs felt like they were on fire and so sore , it was positive and to say the least I was shocked. We had the test confirmed at the dr's who did an internal exam and she said she thought I was over 10 weeks pregnant already so were booked for a scan to have our dates confirmed.

At the scan we were even more shocked when she annouced I was 5 months along !!! , Ive read stories about people who dont realise they are pregnant and I was always doubtful intill now . We are so happy though , we already have one daughter who will be 7 on the 14th May and now we are expecting a long awaited little boy :)

Im now 21 weeks , I cant believe it the baby will be here soon and we have nothing prepared at all . When I went for my scan they discovered that the baby had pyelectasis which is a slight dilation of the kidneys , its supposed to be common with baby boys and hopefully will correct itself by 32 weeks when I have to go back for another scan to check - Fingers crossed for him Apart from that everything looked healthy and normal. Ive still not felt much kicking as of yet but more sweeping movements as if he is trying to turn himself over in my belly , I hardly show at all but the lady who scanned me didnt seem concerned with the size of the baby .

I have my first midwife appointment on the 17th May , so will update again soon . here is a picture of my first daughter Robyn who will be 7 on the 14th may , she weighed in at 6lbs 9 when she was born - they soon grow !

17th May 2007

22 Weeks and 1 day today , Just came home from my first midwife appointment so have a slightly sore arm due to blood tests. I heard his heartbeat too , she found it straight away which was reassuring , lots of questions and the job was done.

Next tuesday I am seeing a specialist in thyroid , Ive felt so tired and they just want to check baby isnt stealing all my hormones . Ill have to be monitered a little more during my pregnancy and labour this time around . Im still hardly showing at all I will have to get some bump photo's up .

22nd May 2007

Saw the Thyroid specialist , he has increased my thyroxine dosage and referred me to another specialist when will it ever end ? . Heard the babies heart beat though and it was 150 bpm very healthy he said so that was great. All my blood results have come back as good too so I am sooo relieved about that .

Ive started to look at baby things this week , such a lack of cute boys things its all denims which seems to be so uncomfy for a small baby shall be sticking to basics this time round as last time I ended up with so much stuff that was never used or needed. Hope everyone else is feeling ok x

1st August 2007

32 weeks and 6 days . Its been ages since I last updated my page , ive been so busy with work and my daughter is now on her summer holidays. The pregnacy has been going well , I had my rescan or for my sons kidneys last week and thankfully they were now normal - what a relief.

Had a bit of a scare this week , had a tiny amount of blood when going to the toilet so had to go down to labour ward where I had a CGT ( moniter of babys heart beat and contractions) , turns out I was having some contractions and they wanted me to stay for 24 hours. After blood tests , swabs , urine tests and various prodding and poking I was allowed home but had a bad Urinary tract infection . Im on anti biotics now and ive also developed anemia.

This pregnancy has been so different from my last my first was a breeze and this one seems to be hospital visits and dr visits every week . Im not complaining though I just hope I can make it past 35 weeks as Im scared the baby will come premature. Only 3 more weeks of work to go and I am so looking forward to it.

Anyway , here are a couple more bump photos since 23 weeks . Surprisingly Ive only gained 7lbs since this pregnacy , the baby is measuring fine though - maybe ill get a huge growth spurt soon .

35 weeks today , and only 35 days left . Yesterday I lost my Mucus plug and had horrible period type pains all day . The midwife thinks I could go early , hoping to make it to week 37 but we shall see. I now have everything bought for the baby and managed to pick up some real bargains . My daughter is getting so excited its really cute , she likes to pick out outfits for him to wear and she says she is going to help me , I love her so much she is the sweetest thing ever .
