My profile

My name is Lori & I am 39 years old and married to the most wonderful man in the world. We are currently in the process of having our third child. We have a beautiful daughter named Samantha who just turned 18 years old and a wonderful son named Chad who is in Heaven. He would be 8 years old this year, but passed away at the age of 5 from complications due to leukemia. He has taught us more about love, patience and strength in his short five years then someone could teach in a lifetime.

We didn't expect to have anymore children especially since Sami is 18 and graduating high school this year! But we are very excited and can't wait to hold our little one!

May 16th

I am 16 weeks 6 days today. My doctor appt this morning was dissapointing to say the least. They seemed so busy and rushed me through. I have a whole month to think up questions and it seems that today just didn't go as planned. My previous appts have always been so good so this was not fun! :) The heartbeat was 152 and very strong which made me happy. Doc said that my uterus was 2" bigger than he thought it would be at this point and it could be attributed to my fibroid...I wanted to ask more questions, but as I said, I didn't. I hate when I do that in an appt. I forget to ask questions while I'm in there. I also asked if I could schedule my CSection for before the 21st of October since my daughter starts College on that day and I don't want her to miss it or school...He said no. the soonest he would take the baby is the 24th unless I have an amnio to show lung development. I totally understand, but it's frustrating! He said that my ultrasound next week may move the due date up or I may go into labor early and of course that would move it up as well! I only hope for a healthy baby. Everything else will fall into place. I am just very hormonal today I think! I want it to go my way! ha Oh, and I'm a little freaked out over this fibroid thing...so if it is growing too, will it harm the baby and what the heck do I have a fibroid for? I know I'm old (39), but I never knew I had one. I hope it turns out okay. I really don't think I could handle the drama of losing this baby. It is so wanted and loved already...After losing my little Chad 3 years ago, I really need to be a mom again. Sami is 18 and I don't see her moving out anytime soon, but still, she is independent and grown up. Chad was five when he passed away and our family isn't completely over the pain of cancer and the devastation it has caused. I miss him terribly and especially lately. He would have been a wonderful big brother. Well, next week, I have my level 2! Hope this little peppercorn is a flasher so we can find out what we are having! :)

May 30th

It's a boy! I had my level 2 yesterday...everything turned out great! I was so nervous about the baby's health due to my last child having Down Syndrome, the heart defect and then leukemia. I was over the top nervous. But there were no markers at all for anything and the baby checked out perfect and my due date didn't change even a day! HA I was hoping for moving it up a week or so. My oldest starts college on Oct 21st. I have to have a CSection and the doc won't take it any sooner than a week early. So that makes the 24th. I was hoping it would be before school starts so she wouldn't miss school. She said there is no way she will miss the baby...She is so excited! So, anyway, this ultrasound was so awesome. I got to see him do somersaults, I saw his fingers, toes, ears, little pug nose...I saw it all! The pics are great and I will post them tomorow. I even saw his little brain and his carotid arteries, kidneys, holy moly they looked at it all and measured every little thing. Very nice tech and such a great experience. I love looking at the pictures and I feel even closer to him now that I feel like I've actually seen him! :) I'm even more in love now. Now to pick out a name......:) My husband is over the moon and we can't decide!

June 20th I haven't updated this in a long time! I have been feeling so good! My last doc appt was two days ago and they said that I only gained one pound since last month! So, since I lost 4 then gained 5, I only weigh one pound more than when I started! That is so unlike me it is wierd! I gained 45 with my first and 50 with my second. I lost the weight both times, but maybe it is because I am about 20 pounds overweight I haven't gained as much.....not sure, but I am walking a TON. An hour in the morning and an hour at night every day so I'm sure that helps. Plus eating right and giving up my wine :( I can't wait to enjoy a nice glass of red next year! The baby is moving like crazy and kicking like a champion! My hubby and daughter have felt a few, but not super strong for them. For me though!! It is so hot here! The last two days are up in the 100 degree marks and this is the first summer pregnancy I have had to edure. My last two were in the cool weather during most of it. So, that isn't fun. Thank goodness for airconditioning!

I AM SO EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT TO HOLD MY LITTLE SON!!!

August 31st

I haven't updated in awhile...I have had another level two and all looked good. Just double checking! I still worry and won't feel safe until I am holding him in my arms. I am only up to about a 9 pound weight gain, but I walking so slow and getting leg cramps all the time. At the glucose test (which I passed) I found out I was extremely anemic. The doc wanted me to take more iron. uggggggh Last week, my hands and feet started itching so bad that I couldn't take it! I couldn't sleep and my hands were "on fire". The doc said it could be an allergic reaction or it could be from my iron problem. After a week it seems better either way. My baby is moving like crazy! Mostly rolls and pushes since I am sure he is running out of room! The Csection has been scheduled for October 24th. So that will be Griffin's Birthday! Mine is the 22nd, and I was hoping for that day, but the doc said that one week was the soonest he would push it up. What's another two days I say, but oh well...maybe I'll go into labor early and then Griffin will decide when he is coming instead of all of us! My daughter was born on her due date and my first son was born two weeks early or so. You never know!!

My shower is scheduled for September 21st. Even though I hate those things, my daughter and mother-in-law are insisting and to be honest...after my son passed away, I really didn't think we would have any more, so I gave it all away to friends. I am excited to see all my friends and play with all the little tiny things. It just makes it a step closer to the big day. Sami (my daughter) is so excited! She talks to him every day and wants to rub my belly so he kicks her!

September 25th

My shower was a huge success and more fun than I thought. I hate being the center of attention at those kind of things, but everyone kept telling me how excited they were for me and how great I looked, so it was nice. I know they were probably just saying that, but that's okay, I enjoyed it! HA I received almost everything I needed. There were over 40 people there and I didn't even send out that many invitations. To think, some of them crashed my shower! How funny is that.

Tomorrow is my last day of work and I am out on leave. I have three weeks of no work before the csection is scheduled, so maybe I will have a chance to do my nesting I have wanted to do for a while now! My Braxton Hicks are getting stronger every day so I hope I have at least a week before I possibly go into labor. The Csection is scheduled for Oct 24th, so technically I have a month, but I just think I will go sooner. We'll see!

Sami packed the diaper bag for the baby and put together everything from the shower and put away all the little clothes, blankets, etc She is very excited for her little brother! I just have to put together my bag. I want to buy new jammies because I know after a Csection, your tummy stays kinda big because of the trauma and the air etc I just don't want something tight to make me look like I'm still pregnant! How vain is that! Oh well.

Last night TJ told me that he hopes Griffin comes early because he is getting excited to meet him. I have to say that is the sweetest thing he has said since I have became pregnant. He has been so nervous and anxious about this pregnancy that he has not been very vocal of his feelings...After losing our last child to cancer at such a young age of 5, we really are scared, especially him. He misses our son very much. I do too. Also, having a teenage daughter is hard for him, as it is for most fathers probably. I have such a good relationship with her, but it is hard for him to see her grow up, have a serious boyfriend and all the other things that come along with growing up and becoming a young woman. He is going gray fast!

Wish me luck everyone! We are so excited, but having an adult child (18) and a newborn at the same time...How wierd is that? And how wonderful! :) I just can't believe that I had our first child at 21 years old, our second at 31 years old and now our third at 40. TJ said absolutely NO at having one at 50! HAHAHA

How`s my pregnancy doing?

Congrats on your little boy! Were due the same day! And congrats on your daughter graduating high school. Hows California for ya? I bet its not pretty with all the fires, my husband is from the sacramento area. Hope the fire isnt close to your house

vanessag7 - Wednesday, 9 July
Just saw the fires on the news. Are you all ok?

mamabear36 - Wednesday, 9 July
No they were real contractions with her they never changed my cervix though..... if you are having them that often you should talk to your doc about it I would say....bc when it started with this pregnancy they said you shouldnt have more then 5 in an hr or I should let them know. Are you drinking plenty of water?

marsup - Tuesday, 8 July
That is crazy hot! Its real humid here, but not that hot!
That is so funny about Eric looking like your brother< that would be funny to see. I hope you find a pic to post! I am playing MOzart for the baby right now... she is one active kid! I am telling you its almost non stop! Well, she sleeps, but then its all out rolling and kicking! I wonder if this music is nice for her.

Every 5-10 minutes with the Brazton Hick? I don't know, it seems very frequent, did you tell your Dr? I keep getting them too, they can be quite strong, stronger than I ever remember having them, and earlier too!

I'd look up the Braxton Hicks thing, and ask your dr. Who knows. I should listen to my own advise, Eric keeps telling me to call the Dr, because I have been really dizzy lately, but I don't. Its just a side effect of this, if I was passing out, sure I'd call, but at this point its just annoying! The hicks though... I don't know, I don't want to scare you in anyway, but I always worry about preterm labor. Ask your Doc, and let me know!
Keep cool!! Where do you live? MIdwest?

I feel like a COW! lol. I have packed on some lbs already.... I need to try to walk more and do my "fit mama" dvd! HAHAHA but hey little Mason is doing good so that all I really care about! We went yesterday and got the u/s results and my midwife said everything looked good, so that was nice to hear! His little heartbeat was pumping away in the 150's still. My blood pressure was high though....but it went down before I left so I think I'm fine.
Yeah I finally pulled a pic of us from my other website.
(I was kinda thinking it would be nice for my friends to have a face w/the name!)

mamabear36 - Tuesday, 1 July

riknlee - Tuesday, 1 July
Hey congratulations on your pregnancy. It sounds as though you have had a rough time but been blessed at the same time. You are very brave. good luck with the rest of your pregnancy. We are planning on calling our baby Trent Jay as in TJ. Well take care

vanessag7 - Tuesday, 1 July
I hear you with the price of deisel as well, its $1.79 per litre here so of course all food has gone up coz trucks run on diesel. I dont think its intrusive either and I think its gorgeous that we can hear them in there

vanessag7 - Tuesday, 1 July
Thats so cute that TJ felt him kicking. I havent walked much at all lately much to the dismay of my two dogs but I'm just so exhausted.
Men are odd creatures and yes, its a lot more real for us but we are trying to involve them in it and thats all we can really do.

mamabear36 - Monday, 30 June
Yeah he was. I totally forgot to drink something with some caff. I was just so excited about seeing him! Plus my appt was early so I was trying to focus on getting enough water in me but I did eat some sugary cereal....still he was rolled up on my left side, lol. He is not as active as my other two were.....maybe thats a sign that he will be nice and calm!! LOL. I went and did my registry last nite....SO MUCH FUN!!! I found the cutest crib set with sailboats and fish on it.
That's nice that you and your hubby had a nice day together..... I here you w/ the gas prices... we are gonna down size my suv until things get better(if they ever do!!)I would rather not be in a smaller car with the kids but we don't really have a choice,ya know! but anyway Im glad to hear from you! and glad everythings going great for you guys!! Did you pick a name for the little guy yet?? We decided Mason Daniel. Mason just b/c I love it and Daniel is after my hubbys dad. TTYS

vanessag7 - Monday, 30 June
Great, I'm glad it worked for you. It's so gorgeous isnt it, I find myself listen to her a lot recently which some people have said to me they think its intruding
I'm glad the fires are subsiding, must be a relief. I wish I could spend some time with Tim but he is, well, not distant just odd. I keep trying to get him to spend time with me now, since in 4 months its all going to change so much and he isnt interested or is too busy as he says.
I dont mean to sound rude but you guys pay 1/6 of what we do in fuel currently. I know its a lot for you but to us its the equivalent of prices in the 50's when we convert gallons to litres. We are paying $1.65 per litre and there are 4 gallons to one litre but I do know what you mean, you get used to cheaper fuel and its a huge hike currently everywhere.
I have been having the same cramps and its not nice, Braxton Hicks maybe?

vanessag7 - Friday, 27 June
I was checking high as well but Anastasia is really low which I didnt realise until she was right down very low.
Your really in the thick of it all arent you. I hope it doesnt get any closer, 10 minutes is pretty close

mamabear36 - Friday, 27 June
They are sooooooo excited!!! Im so thrilled that he is doing good! He was a lazy bones the whole time! lol. So I guess I was right I have a lazy little boy! Im so happy I just can't believe it still!!! My hubby was in shock I think.... I think he assumed it would be another girl. lol. Now I can relax a bit more and try to enjoy the rest of my pregnancy!

mamabear36 - Friday, 27 June
I am having a BOY! We found out today. He was perfect!!

vanessag7 - Friday, 27 June
I got mine of ebqy pretty cheap. I found Anastasia is a lot lower than I had previously been looking to find her and thats why I didnt pick her up. Check lower is all I can suggest coz the stethoscope should work now as well

marsup - Thursday, 26 June
where's your baby bump!!

vanessag7 - Thursday, 26 June
i think you should do what you feel most comfy with, its your body and your baby after all and if there are no reasons for the c section and its not going to life threatening to have one its your choice.
Anastasia is sitting very very low today and I have had a lot of pressure right on my cervix. Naturally it had me worried but I used the doppler down there and it actually picked up her heart beating so I know she is ok, phew.

vanessag7 - Thursday, 26 June
I'm feeling the same but with me I have a heavy feeling in my groin. It's quite annoying to say the least. I never thought of pelvis shifting but it sounds reasonable. Anastasia has been kicking me this morning, she doesnt like it when I'm at work and typing, I must lean forward too much or something. I'm not that great at the computr stuff either but I refuse to let it get the better of me
