My profile

My name is Lori & I am 39 years old and married to the most wonderful man in the world. We are currently in the process of having our third child. We have a beautiful daughter named Samantha who just turned 18 years old and a wonderful son named Chad who is in Heaven. He would be 8 years old this year, but passed away at the age of 5 from complications due to leukemia. He has taught us more about love, patience and strength in his short five years then someone could teach in a lifetime.

We didn't expect to have anymore children especially since Sami is 18 and graduating high school this year! But we are very excited and can't wait to hold our little one!

May 16th

I am 16 weeks 6 days today. My doctor appt this morning was dissapointing to say the least. They seemed so busy and rushed me through. I have a whole month to think up questions and it seems that today just didn't go as planned. My previous appts have always been so good so this was not fun! :) The heartbeat was 152 and very strong which made me happy. Doc said that my uterus was 2" bigger than he thought it would be at this point and it could be attributed to my fibroid...I wanted to ask more questions, but as I said, I didn't. I hate when I do that in an appt. I forget to ask questions while I'm in there. I also asked if I could schedule my CSection for before the 21st of October since my daughter starts College on that day and I don't want her to miss it or school...He said no. the soonest he would take the baby is the 24th unless I have an amnio to show lung development. I totally understand, but it's frustrating! He said that my ultrasound next week may move the due date up or I may go into labor early and of course that would move it up as well! I only hope for a healthy baby. Everything else will fall into place. I am just very hormonal today I think! I want it to go my way! ha Oh, and I'm a little freaked out over this fibroid thing...so if it is growing too, will it harm the baby and what the heck do I have a fibroid for? I know I'm old (39), but I never knew I had one. I hope it turns out okay. I really don't think I could handle the drama of losing this baby. It is so wanted and loved already...After losing my little Chad 3 years ago, I really need to be a mom again. Sami is 18 and I don't see her moving out anytime soon, but still, she is independent and grown up. Chad was five when he passed away and our family isn't completely over the pain of cancer and the devastation it has caused. I miss him terribly and especially lately. He would have been a wonderful big brother. Well, next week, I have my level 2! Hope this little peppercorn is a flasher so we can find out what we are having! :)

May 30th

It's a boy! I had my level 2 yesterday...everything turned out great! I was so nervous about the baby's health due to my last child having Down Syndrome, the heart defect and then leukemia. I was over the top nervous. But there were no markers at all for anything and the baby checked out perfect and my due date didn't change even a day! HA I was hoping for moving it up a week or so. My oldest starts college on Oct 21st. I have to have a CSection and the doc won't take it any sooner than a week early. So that makes the 24th. I was hoping it would be before school starts so she wouldn't miss school. She said there is no way she will miss the baby...She is so excited! So, anyway, this ultrasound was so awesome. I got to see him do somersaults, I saw his fingers, toes, ears, little pug nose...I saw it all! The pics are great and I will post them tomorow. I even saw his little brain and his carotid arteries, kidneys, holy moly they looked at it all and measured every little thing. Very nice tech and such a great experience. I love looking at the pictures and I feel even closer to him now that I feel like I've actually seen him! :) I'm even more in love now. Now to pick out a name......:) My husband is over the moon and we can't decide!

June 20th I haven't updated this in a long time! I have been feeling so good! My last doc appt was two days ago and they said that I only gained one pound since last month! So, since I lost 4 then gained 5, I only weigh one pound more than when I started! That is so unlike me it is wierd! I gained 45 with my first and 50 with my second. I lost the weight both times, but maybe it is because I am about 20 pounds overweight I haven't gained as much.....not sure, but I am walking a TON. An hour in the morning and an hour at night every day so I'm sure that helps. Plus eating right and giving up my wine :( I can't wait to enjoy a nice glass of red next year! The baby is moving like crazy and kicking like a champion! My hubby and daughter have felt a few, but not super strong for them. For me though!! It is so hot here! The last two days are up in the 100 degree marks and this is the first summer pregnancy I have had to edure. My last two were in the cool weather during most of it. So, that isn't fun. Thank goodness for airconditioning!

I AM SO EXCITED AND CAN'T WAIT TO HOLD MY LITTLE SON!!!

August 31st

I haven't updated in awhile...I have had another level two and all looked good. Just double checking! I still worry and won't feel safe until I am holding him in my arms. I am only up to about a 9 pound weight gain, but I walking so slow and getting leg cramps all the time. At the glucose test (which I passed) I found out I was extremely anemic. The doc wanted me to take more iron. uggggggh Last week, my hands and feet started itching so bad that I couldn't take it! I couldn't sleep and my hands were "on fire". The doc said it could be an allergic reaction or it could be from my iron problem. After a week it seems better either way. My baby is moving like crazy! Mostly rolls and pushes since I am sure he is running out of room! The Csection has been scheduled for October 24th. So that will be Griffin's Birthday! Mine is the 22nd, and I was hoping for that day, but the doc said that one week was the soonest he would push it up. What's another two days I say, but oh well...maybe I'll go into labor early and then Griffin will decide when he is coming instead of all of us! My daughter was born on her due date and my first son was born two weeks early or so. You never know!!

My shower is scheduled for September 21st. Even though I hate those things, my daughter and mother-in-law are insisting and to be honest...after my son passed away, I really didn't think we would have any more, so I gave it all away to friends. I am excited to see all my friends and play with all the little tiny things. It just makes it a step closer to the big day. Sami (my daughter) is so excited! She talks to him every day and wants to rub my belly so he kicks her!

September 25th

My shower was a huge success and more fun than I thought. I hate being the center of attention at those kind of things, but everyone kept telling me how excited they were for me and how great I looked, so it was nice. I know they were probably just saying that, but that's okay, I enjoyed it! HA I received almost everything I needed. There were over 40 people there and I didn't even send out that many invitations. To think, some of them crashed my shower! How funny is that.

Tomorrow is my last day of work and I am out on leave. I have three weeks of no work before the csection is scheduled, so maybe I will have a chance to do my nesting I have wanted to do for a while now! My Braxton Hicks are getting stronger every day so I hope I have at least a week before I possibly go into labor. The Csection is scheduled for Oct 24th, so technically I have a month, but I just think I will go sooner. We'll see!

Sami packed the diaper bag for the baby and put together everything from the shower and put away all the little clothes, blankets, etc She is very excited for her little brother! I just have to put together my bag. I want to buy new jammies because I know after a Csection, your tummy stays kinda big because of the trauma and the air etc I just don't want something tight to make me look like I'm still pregnant! How vain is that! Oh well.

Last night TJ told me that he hopes Griffin comes early because he is getting excited to meet him. I have to say that is the sweetest thing he has said since I have became pregnant. He has been so nervous and anxious about this pregnancy that he has not been very vocal of his feelings...After losing our last child to cancer at such a young age of 5, we really are scared, especially him. He misses our son very much. I do too. Also, having a teenage daughter is hard for him, as it is for most fathers probably. I have such a good relationship with her, but it is hard for him to see her grow up, have a serious boyfriend and all the other things that come along with growing up and becoming a young woman. He is going gray fast!

Wish me luck everyone! We are so excited, but having an adult child (18) and a newborn at the same time...How wierd is that? And how wonderful! :) I just can't believe that I had our first child at 21 years old, our second at 31 years old and now our third at 40. TJ said absolutely NO at having one at 50! HAHAHA

How`s my pregnancy doing?

I got one pic but its 2D but seeing her was great. She is really low with her head on my cervix and her left hand on her face and her left knee is digging into me. She is facing slightly left as well or was at the scan.
I ate pasta last night and took the best reading out of 5 to write down. The machine has memory so I will show them all of them and see what they say.

When I first started I made the landlords back an average of $145,000 in rent review that were not done of which the company averaged 5% of in commission. The guy in my job didnt do his job at all and I had to sort out a lot of issues for the two founding members who have a lot of properties with us as well as the others. My desk is a mess as I need large files out to reference to check these things and get them right so I wasnt impressed, plus they stopped losing properties and I grew the rent roll by over 30 properties in 1.5 years which isnt bad going but it still didnt warrant a 5k a year rise.
But, my boss is flexible and supportive which is good and the girls make up for it in a small way as its a great place to be.
I dont think I even want to see the placenta let alone bring it home, the dogs would dig it up if given an opportunity and eat it which would be far to gross for me to contemplate.
I majored in genetics at University so it annoys me my chord blood cant be donated as I know the good that can come of it and the lives that can be saved by doing the research, thats why I also have good idea about Downs as well as working with downs people in facilities they do gardening. We have a nursery that all of the workers suffer downs and I buy all my plants there and support them. They love having a job and work hard, I guess it makes them feel like their disability isnt a barrier and thats a great thing to see the pride in their faces at their work and the end of a day knowing they worked for it. They are just regular people with a 9 - 5 job like the rest of us and they love it.

Things are going good. Planning our trip to Orlando for next week. My fiancee is playing in the world softball tournament thursday thru sunday depending on how they do, might be back early, might not be back until sunday. If this wasnt really important to him i would not be going, but he really wants me there. Its just cutting it a little close to my due date and seeing as this is my 3rd child, i could go early.I have a feeling Im going to be miserable, but maybe not.But anyway, how are you doing?

ashleyy - Thursday, 4 September
Yah i guess my job is pretty official!lol I actually beat someone who had a bachelors degree in engineering, while i have a high school diploma! I guess its all about personality and determination! Yah i work and live on base and my friend that is babysitting Jori lives by my work so it will be easy i hope! Yah my mother in law is that type of controlling too she definetly wants to be in everything and im going to let her cause her other kids are your age and they had kids and didnt involve her, and so brett is kind of the only child too, and she wants to be in everything and im going to let her cause i will need the help and she is a good cook!haha I so understand about your situation cause its kind of bitter sweet, your getting a new little boy that will probably remind you of your little chad. I have no clue what that feels like but i bet it will be bitter sweet cause you will have such a wonderful son and think of your other wonderful son thats in a better place! I wish all the luck to you in the c-section and hopefully its a nice recovery.

I work for the air force as a civilian contractor for the engineering squadron, most of my work is computer based, so i convinced them to let me work from home, cause i dont get paid maternity leave. there giving me 3 months off! Glad i make ya laugh! My shower is the 27th so 6 days after yours! My inlaws bought the crib and we already had a dresser and a rocking chair with the little ottman, and we already have a toy box for her. My mom hasnt got anything yet cause i keep saying im going to buy everything!lol Me and brett are going to get a stroller soon. My family is like yours very excited for a baby to enter the family and cant wait to spoil her! I just cant wait to move out of alaska so we are closer to family so everyone can be closer. I cant believe we are almost 32 weeks! We are so close to being done thank GOD! I cant wait for this to be over with!!!

ashleyy - Wednesday, 3 September
Yah i know its a waste of a good pee!lol Im starting to have alot of sharp pains in my sides and back cause i guess my body isnt use to this weight on my stomach and things are stretching, so i have to get a belly support thing. So i realized im going to start working from home like a little over a week before im due and start transitioning from work to home. Which means YAY sleeping in! im still congested and its not fun! When is your baby shower? Mine is the very end of this month! I wanted it exactly a month to our due date. Cause i have like everything just need to get the little things hence where the baby shower comes in! Hope your feeling good!

beth0928 - Wednesday, 3 September
Oh ok. Well i guess i will have to wait until she is ready to come. And yes thank you i am feeling much better.

vanessag7 - Wednesday, 3 September
You cant beat yourself up about it, we all follow doctors instruction and yes, we do seem to think they have all the answers and forget they are only human also.
A raise and a bonus, wow. I was promised a pay rise 6 months in and it was even on my contract but it never came, the reasons given were my desk is messy and I dont wear a suit to work, not that those things were ever mentioned in my contract but I let it slide. If I go back to work after Anastasia is born I will look for somewhere closer to home and who pay me what I'm worth as I'm underpaid where I am now but I love the people so I stayed.
Now, planting a tree and keeping placenta? Tell me about it as we do not have that here and I have never heard of it before, I tried to donate my chord blood but they dont do it at my hospital which is stupid as it is a research hospital and the best in the state and I'm not paying to keep it either

vanessag7 - Wednesday, 3 September
Went really well, she weighs 4 pound 4 so is correct size and weight for stage of development and she has definately turned. She is pushing down on my cervix and is pointing slightly left. Her knee is pushing in my left hand side where I get all of the kicks so all is well.
I havent had a single high blood sugar reading either and I'm starving, the diet they gave me is no where near enough food per day for me let alone both of us so I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do

vanessag7 - Wednesday, 3 September
I go for an ultrasound tonight to see if she is ok with the diabetes and growth they can have due to it but I think she is fine. She has turned and is kicking me high now and yesterday she was very active. Thats good news about finishing up at work, I finish on the 3rd of October and I cant wait now for that day to come.

vanessag7 - Wednesday, 3 September
Thanks, it should go after she is born or more to the point the placenta is gone as its the hormones that the placenta produces that inhibit insulin in the body but so far I havent had a high reading so I think I was scammed

beth0928 - Tuesday, 2 September
So are they going to do a c-section? yeah i had a yeast infection but they gave me a 3day medication to clear it up and now its fine.

ashleyy - Tuesday, 2 September
Well i think you can do a natural birth cause my mom did! Her first was me and i was au natural, and i was the biggest one almost 9lbs 22 inches! And my mom wasa preggo with my twin brothers and had to have them c-section cause they fought to get out of the womb and she had toxicema, and then in 2000 she had my littlest brother naturally and she said it hurt really bad from old scars! So if she can do it natural again i think you can!! Well im glad my sickness is suppose to be normal!haha Im still congested like snotty stuff! Well i hope you had a good nap!!! And a good weekend! YAY only working three days this week!

vanessag7 - Monday, 1 September
Feeling great this weekend, did nothing but potter around the house dusting and doing all of those joyous things that havent been done and need to be before I bring Ansatasia home.
How lucky for you a long weekend, we dont have anymore until November now as Melbourne Cup dAy. Love a day off for a horse race.

ashleyy - Sunday, 31 August
2 months til our due date! Even thou your lucky butt gets him out early! I have a really bad cold and congestion and overall nasty feeling! And this is our four day weekend!!! Depressing! Do you know if its normal for me to be like this? Im the type of person that never gets sick so i dont know what the heck is going on!

soon2be momma d - Sunday, 31 August
Hi there! I saw your post on someone else's page about eating great pasta last night and feeling like you had been drinking.... I ALWAYS feel the same way (and just thought I was crazy) whenever I eat sun-dried tomatoes! Just wondered if there was a link! Have a great day!

mamabear36 - Friday, 29 August
awwwww.....I took a peek at your registry. Very cute stuff!!! My darn computer is acting up and keeps closing out on me. Im gonna have to go back to it when we get rid of this bug or whatever.

mamabear36 - Friday, 29 August
you should! He's a Jerkasours!! My hubby knows better then to say anything about my weight!! lol, I have him trained well over the years of mistakes I guess. I am a freak about weight anyway and in my teen years had a eating disorder(which we were together through) SO I think he'd rather see me heavier then not eating at all,ya know.
He has always liked the pregnant look anyway....porbably bc it's the only time Im not complaining about my weight and counting every bite I have to eat! : laugh hahaha
Your hubby needs to stop that crap, you havent hardly even gained anything! You are gonna be a beanpole when you have him in no time!! You just keep up the good work mama( I've gained 36lbs already ) My poor cousin is at 62lbs right now.....she went from 150-212 and counting! So you are doing wonderful!

My shower is gonna be october 4 or 5th. and Im gonna go check your registry out......... it's so exciting isn't it!!!! TTYS

vanessag7 - Thursday, 28 August
Thats plan A at least. She if she obliges me in having a water birth, I might need C section worst case also I suppose. I like the idea of her coming our fresh and clean and me catching her and holding her when her first breath is taken instead of a midwife.
Wow, 24th is great. Are you happy with that? I guess as happy as you can be considering your forced to have another C section.

mamabear36 - Thursday, 28 August
oh and GREAT job on no gain sister!!!! Im jealous!!!

mamabear36 - Thursday, 28 August
Awww....that's my grandmas b-day. So you will have a tiny peanut by Halloween! My b-day is October 18th....Im kinda thinking I'm gonna end up having him sometime around the end of October. I'm just hoping he stays in until 37 weeks or so, I don't want him to be sick,ya know! !
I hope everything is okay with me until my shower though!!! That would be a bummer to have him and have nothing for him!!! Whats your full name so I can check out your registry(if you dont mind) I would love to get your little fella something.

mamabear36 - Wednesday, 27 August
I don't go back to the docs until next thursday. I am gonna have to have them check me again just to make sure Im not dilated anymore!
I feel good when I am sitting on my butt! lol. But I cant be doing that all day!
And gosh the heat is killing me! lol.
Yeah my legs and lower back are killing me!
Man will I be happy when he is here....this oven is closed!!!

beth0928 - Wednesday, 27 August
How did your appointment go today? Mine went pretty good. Baby's heartbeat sounds good. I told them about the heavy discharge so they checked me and come to find out i have a yeast infection. So everything is fine.

vanessag7 - Wednesday, 27 August
Thats funny but I have heard it happens occasionally, I would insist on the same and will if they try to take her away from me. I hope with a water birth she wont need to be cleaned and wont leave my side.
Too funny, my Mum is exactly the same. We could be sisters with all of the similarities we have. Do you have a rough idea of when you want him to be born? I would love to plan myself around a birth date but I still hope for a natural birth. Tim says I'm over organised, just the way I am really.
