My name is Dawn, and I have been happily married for almost six years. My husband and I were born and raised in the small South Louisiana city where we currently live. Three years ago on January 17th we had our first child, our son Brody. He is an amazing little boy with a very outgoing personality. In October we found out that we are going to be parents again. We are due on June 20th, but if we make it all the way we will deliver on the 11th. We were truly excited to find out that this "little pancake" is a girl! Brody is excited to get his "princess sista", whose name will be Leryn Alexis.
As far as my everyday life goes, I am obviously a mother 24-7, but I am also a public school educator. I teach a 6th grade Honors class, and I truly enjoy it (minus the at-home paperwork). It doesn't give me much free time, but it is a job I have always felt God chose for me.
When I do have free time, I thoroughly enjoy playing golf (especially with my husband), boating, camping, watching football, and visiting the Emerald Coast in Florida and the Mountains in Tennessee.
I am a Cajun girl at heart...from the Mardi Gras parades all the way to the food and music! I truly believe that children should know and understand where they came from and be proud of their heritage. Children make us forever a party of history...

I went to the doctor today for my monthly check-up, and everything looks great. Little Leryn is measuring right on schedule, and to be honest, I've been feeling pretty darn good. So far I have gained 16 pounds, which I also think is great. I'm not nearly as big this time around as I was when pregnant for Brody. There were no changes made to my delivery date, which is still set at June 11th. Leryn lets me know she's there, she never stops kicking and punching. I just can't recall Brody being so active.
It looks like I've grown a little more tolerant of the color pink. I have to admit, pink does look really good with brown, and most of the things I've found that I like are those two colors. I'm having a difficult time staying away from the adorable little dresses that they make for little girls. Even though I knew I would be happy with nothing but boys I am rather excited to get to dress a girl.
Well, now that I'm half-way through this pregnancy, it's time to start thinking about packing my bags and getting ready for a new baby. With Brody coming as an early surprise, I learned my lesson about not being fully prepared. This time I intend to have all the things I need BEFORE I get to the hospital! The best thing, though, would be if Leryn and I can make it to 36 weeks!
