"IDENTICAL TWIN BOYS"

I am a wife and a mother. I have a four year old daugher and I am married to a Seabee in the Navy. I have been with Cory for almost 10 years now. We had our daughter in 2003 and are very excited about the twin boys that are due in April!!

My boys are identical. The membrane is very thin between them so the doctor said they should be identical.So far my pregnancy has been very smooth...but now that I am getting further along my body is really starting to ache. I don `t have to be watched by the doctor since my twins are monochorionic/diamnionic with one placenta but two sacs.

Sunday, 13 Jan

So I went to the doctor on Wed to check up on my babies. I have noticed that I was having contractions the night before. So when I go to the doctor they put me on a stress test to see how many I was having. The doctor told me this is my body `s way of telling me I need to take it easy and slow down. So they did a ultrasound and the babies looked great. So they sent me to the hospital and hooked me up again to monitor the contractions....they decided to give me a shot that would make them stop. Which it did help but made my heart feel like it was going to come out of my chest. But that was a side effect of the medication. So they released me but warned me that now I am on bed rest and I have to return back to the doctor on Tues to do another ultrasound to check up on the babies and to measure my cervix. I will keep everyone updated.

Thursday, 17 Jan

I had a follow up appt to the doctor on Tues the 15th. He did a ultrasound and baby a is 3lbs and baby b is 2 1/2lbs...so they are tracking right along with each other. He also checked my cervix and he is now 1.6cm instead of the nice 4.0 so I am on bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy.

Tuesday, 29 Jan

So I went to the doctor today and everything turned out a lot better then I thought. Since last time my cervix was 1.6cm and I have been getting a shot every week to help relax my cervix so it doesn `t shorten anymore. I would have to say thank god but the shots are working (even though they are so painful and you can `t move your arm all day). My cervix was measured and it is now at 2 1/2cm long. I am still on bedrest and the doctor said that Donovin is now head down and Dominick is now breach. Hey which that is okay with me as long as one is vertex so I can have a normal birth. The doctor did another pre term labor swab so I should hear from them today to get the results. I hope they are good. The doctor said he would see me back in two weeks unless I need to come in for any reason. So next appt will be Jan. 12

Thursday, 7 Feb

So today I made a special trip to the doctors office today. It was crazy last night while I was sleeping I kept waking up and I was itching all over. So I got up and there was no rash so I called the doctor and he said that he wanted to do some blood work to see what was going on. While I was there he scanned the babies. Baby A is weighing in at 3 pounds 10oz and baby B is 4 pounds and 1oz so they are pretty close and the doctor said nothing to worry about they are looking great. I really can `t wait to get my blood test back because I am going nuts trying to figure out what is going on.

Wednesday, 13 Feb

Today was my doctors appt. I went in knowing that I would need to be monitored cause I was having plenty of contractions all night and all day. Sure enough they had to give me the shot to stop the contractions. Doctor said give him a few more weeks and we can have them. He did measure my cervix and it is back down to the shortest it has ever been it is now 1cm so that scared me. Now they have me on the oral medication that I have to take at home to make sure I don `t get any contractions so I am taking that every four hours. Oh also he did the pre term labor swab and it looks like I am good for atleast another two weeks. Thank God!! Next doctors appt is next tues. Hope all is well with everyone else.

Saturday, 23 Feb

So I had a doctor appt on Tues and I just knew when I went I was going to be sent to the hospital. I was having contractions about every 8 mins on monday night. I went in and saw the doctor and he knew right way something wasn `t right. The first thing he said was why arent ` you smiling like usual. I told him about the contractions and he checked me. I was 2-3 cm and 90% effaced. He said right away that he wanted me to go to the hosp so we can get the labor stopped cause he atleast wanted to buy another week or two. Needless to say I went to the hosp and they hooked me up and gave me a iv and some meds. It took them two days to stop the labor and they took me off all the meds and they said as long as I have less then four contractions an hour they would let me go home. So on Wed night they let me go home. Now I am really on strick bedrest and I dont see the doctor till Tues of next week. He gave me his cell phone number just incase I needed to get in touch with him. So I hope I can hang in there for a little bit longer. Wish me luck!!!

Thursday, 28 Feb

Went to the doctor yesterday and everything is looking good. He said I am still about 3cm. He said since next week I will be 36weeks pregnant he will let me off bedrest and I think labor will happen pretty fast after that. We did weigh the babies. Baby A was 4pounds and 3oz and Baby B is about 4pounds 10 oz. I sure hope I can make it another week. Wish me luck

Went to the doctor today and everything is looking good. He said that I could have the babies anyday now. He also said if I don `t have them by this Sat then he would be kind enough to induce me Sat morning at 8am. Of course I said that would be fine. Wish me luck

11 days after giving birth to our twin boys!! not to bad I guess :)

Thursday 20, March

We took the boys to the doctor....Donovin's height was 19 3/4 and weight was 6 lbs.....Dominick's height was 20" and his weight was 6lbs and 5 oz....so the doctor said that he was shocked to see how good they are doing. He said there weight is over there birth weight and that is what they look for at there two week check up. Donovin had to get his hep b shot cause he was in the NICU for four days and they don't give them shots in there. Dominick had his while we were in the hospital cause he never had to go to the NICU. Poor Donovin of course being a mommy I cried when they gave him his shot. We have another appt to go back in two weeks for there one month check up!!! I can't wait to update all of you ;)

Wed 9th, April

Donovin is now at 20 1/2 inches long and is weighing in at 7lbs and 15oz

Dominick is now at 20 1/2 inches long and is weighing in at 8lbs and 8oz

Everything is looking great with the boys!! They are both healthy as can be. The only question we had for the doctor was if we needed to change there formula?! They boys have had alot of gas and it seems like they are getting really uncomfortable. So the doctor said that he thinks the boys are having a sensitivity to protein. So we are now on a new formula...I would have to say we have feed them twice since we got home from the doctor and I can tell a big difference in how they are feeling so I really think we made the right choice. (Similac Alimentum is the new formula)

So once again I had to change the formula yesterday. I called the doctor cause the boys did not have a bowl movement since Wed. The doctor said to try Nutramigen Lipil. I just don't understand why they spit up so much. They seem to be doing well on this formula but it sure cost a lot. The boys go back to the doctor tomorrow so I will update everyone on how it went. Monday 14th, April

Donovin is now weighing in at 8lbs and 3oz (just in five days)

Dominick is now weighing in at 8lbs and 11oz

We had to take the boys back to the doctor for a follow up to see how the formula was doing. I informed the doctor it looks like everything is getting better but the boys were still not able to use the bathroom. All day Sunday I had to just give them Pedialyte (which they loved). So finally during the 2am feeding they went to the bathroom and boy was it wet (lol). I also explained to the doctor I wasn't able to tell if the Nutramigen Lipil was doing anything for them cause it was to early. So I am going to keep them on it for atleast a week before seeing if we need to switch to anything else. The Similac Alimentum was sure making there bellies feel better but I was worried about them not being able to use the bathroom. He said that sometimes warm weather can make them that way cause they are sweating. So I just agreed with him and I am just going to let the boys have Nutramigen Lipil for a week and if it is working reguardless of the price I will just keep them on it. The boys will return back to the doctor when they are two months for all there shots not unless they need to be seen for anything else. Until then take care!!

Tuesday 06th, May

Today was the boys two month check up and shots.

Donovin is now 10lbs and 5oz and is 23 inches long

Dominick is now 10lbs and 10oz and is 23 1/2 inches long

They have doubled in size since I had them. Also today the doctor heard a small heart murmur in Donovin. He said there is nothing to worry about at all. He said more then half babies born will have this and it will close on there own. Thank God!!

Also I informed the doctor the boys are still not able to poop on there own. We have to help them every day. Even when they have a ounce of apple or prune juice in there bottle each time. Doctor D'Andrea is going to refer them to a specialist so we can get this issue resolved. Now we don't have to go back to the doctor till the boys are four months old.

2 1/2 MONTHS AFTER TWINS

I STILL NEED TO WORK ON MY BELLY!! IN DUE TIME IT WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL ;)
