Monday 4-30-07 38 week appt:
I know Im so bad at posting updates on here, I went in today for my 38 week appt and am still 3cm dilated and 70% effaced but she said that my cervix is really really ripe (that sounds appetizing) and she doesnt think I am going to make it to my next appt next Monday and it also guessing the baby is 7lbs 12oz. Both my girls were born at 7lbs 13oz, that would be a trip if all three kids came out at the same weight. I'm thinking at this point he's like 15 lbs and will be born walking and talking...hahahahaha. So this weekend to see if I could get crap progressing we walked about the flea market, yeah that only lasted about 2 hours. I just cant walk for too long anymore. I hope and pray she's right I dont make it to my next appt as I cannot wait to hold this little guy. Last night I packed more of the hospital bag and this morning finished it up....who knows when Luke will decide it's time come out. She also said she was concerned about the lower number in my blood pressure and the edema in my legs ( I didnt think it was that bad) but suggested 4-5 times a day laying on my left side.....UMMMM how will that work I work all day. GEEZ!!! I have had some pretty good contractions today just waiting until they get painful, hope I didnt pack that hopital bag for nothin. Great weather today in Beautiful Colorado, wishin I wasnt at work!
Wednesday 5-2-07
Ok so today started out typical except I felt less labory then the whole pregnancy, no pressure no BH no contractions nothing so I figured nothing is going to happen today and another day at work. Well after getting a phone call from my daughter school about her rash, took her to the dr (it ended up being hives, exactly what I told the school it was) I get back to work and go to the restroom and realize I'm wiping out gobs of mucous plug, I mean this sucker is coming out in blobs and gobs. However I'm not holding my breath for anything to happen. Hate to get all excited and no baby. So later I start having pretty strong contractions, nothing to ring the doc about though but secretly hoping they turn into massive pain to be able to go in. They kept up the whole night but were not consistent or painful enough to go in. Woke up a few times with them but fell back asleep. Ok so it didnt end up in a birth but hey losing the plug is a step in the right direction.
Thursday May 3rd
Ok new update besides the nastiness glob I get migraines, no not just horrible headaches full on migraines. They start off with the sparklies and then BAM headache from hell. Ok so the last few appts the dr has been concerned about my BP so I called them to see what I can besides stupid Tylenol and they told me to come in to get checked. I get in and my BP is 133/90 normally its 110/70 so they take blood and have me monitored for lik EVER!! Anyway she checks the good ole cervix, well I have no progressed to 4cm and 80% effaced and he has dropped to station zero. She told me she thinks I will have him in the next two days if I didnt have him tonight. WOO HOO. AND!!!! She is guessing he weighs 8lbs 5 oz.....holy...................Anyway thought I would do a quick update and will let you guys know if anything changes or I birth :)
Thursday May 3rd (cont) BIRTH STORY :) Luke is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ok so after a rough day of a dang ole migraine I finish out the day at work and right when 5:00pm hits Im outta there. I get home and I had told my husband that day that we are going to do what we need to to have this baby sex, clean mow the lawn etc.... So I tell him to empty the grass catcher so I can mow the lawn and the next thing I know he's out there mowing it. I was inside doing dishes figuring out dinner, he said it wouldnt look good if I was out there in the front yard as pg as I was having people see me mow the lawn....hahahahaha. At that point I didnt care but it was sweet of him :) So around 7:00pm or so I went to lay down cause I just didnt feel right. Well right when I laid down I felt a "pop" from inside. Well I had never has my water broke on me before so I had no idea what it was although the idea was right there. When I stood up just about a tablespoon of liquid came out, well I hadnt sneezed or coughed so I knew I didnt pee myself, yeah you guys know what Im talking about :) So I went to the bathroom and what came out was cloudy and I wiped even MORE mucous out. Well the contractions almost started in the next 10 or so minutes and were about 7-10 min apart but getting more and more painful. I called my parents, they came over to get the kids and because I didnt want this to be false labor I waited for more contractions. Ok so in tears I call my OB to let her know about the contractions, it was the same dr that checked me earlier that day and she is my favorite so she told me to head to the hospital and she would meet me there. We get there at 8:30pm and go in the ER and they wheel me up in the meantime Imdying of pain. I tell her I want an epidural ASAP. I get in the L&D room and I get checked, Im 5cm and 100% effaced, I get the lovely gown on and am now BEGGING and PLEADING for a damn epidural. They tell me that both the anisthesiologists are in the OR and cannot come up. I'm like NOOOOOOO!!!!!! 10 min later Im dilated to 7cm, yeah no hope for an epidural now and I am asking where my doctor is I tell them I need to push. She tell me not to it could damage my cervix. All the while Im thinking I'm going to damage something if I dont get that epidural. My nurse was so nice and about 15 min later I tell her that I really need to push and I cant help it. She checks me again while contracting YOUCH!!!!!!! And now Im 10cm and ready to go, my dr walks in and I tell her that I need to push and she said to go ahead she would get the baby. I then feel like all of the sudden I have to have a BM, I tell me dr and tell her that I would be so embarrassed and that I dont want to poo on the table. She told me she could see the head and that I didnt need to poo that it was just the baby and to push. I give two really hard pushes (NO EPIDURAL!!!) and out pops his head. She tells me the head is out and I yell at her to pull the rest of him out it hurts, I give one more push and there is my baby angel Luke. He was born at 9:03pm so I guess the whole half hour in the hospital not too shabby :) My flippin hoohoo hurt so bad I am not kidding. Luke Michael was 7lbs 9oz and 21 inches long. he is just beautiful and I will post pics soon. My recovery time has been great w/o the epidural, with the epidural I remember my back hurt for quite a while. It is sore but I think its from the pushing. If I had to do it all over again I STILL would have chosen to get the epidural but it seems it all worked out the way it was supposed to. I've lost 22 lbs and remember how good it feels to get back into normal people clothing. I do miss being pregnant and feeling him move inside me but he is such a doll I love holding and kissing and being with him. My girls love him and have adapted great to the change. I wish all you ladies a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery.
God Bless
