It definately sounds like you are in early stages of labour! how awesome. Not long now!

breezy - Sunday, 11 May
Hi! I was feelings those cramps like you described off and on a few days before I wnt into labor. The day I went ito labor the menstrual cramping got worse and worse and more intense. It was JUST like the labr contractions but the labor contrctions ar WAY worse and intense but for me, it felt the exact same.

You can definately tell them not to do it!! Especially if it's becoming a traumatic experience! I'm so sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. My midwife did it just the once, and she actually didn't tell me that she was doing it. I figured it out from reading the other women's posts in the forum and then googling the procedure. If it helps, even though it might hurt, I would rather have the 30 seconds of intense pain than the extra days/ weeks of dull aching pain from having the baby inside! The sweep didn't do too much for me, except dislodge some of the mucus plug, but it's better than trying nothing, in my opinion. Just hang in there Mommy. This will all be over soon!!!

Mizzy - Saturday, 10 May
are you dialated at all? cause if they are forcing a sweep on a cervix that isnt dialated properly or soft then its gonna hurt.im wondering if thats why your having so much pain with them.even if your 2 centemeters it feels alot more comfortable! i hope they arent forcing that on you,it should be your choice.you dont want any cervical trauma before you go into labor! pretty extreme...im sorry your going through that

ukdutypaid - Saturday, 10 May
anytime and message me anytime if i can help i will, keep me updated ok chick.x.x.x.

happytobeamommy - Saturday, 10 May
It is your choice you aren't even overdue yet - ths seems extreme! I have had it done once and my midwife said it is better then induction and offered to do it 2 more times before they induce - I will probably do it but YES it was super painful! I just really don't want to be induced... remember your body, your rules!

well you still got rights, i had my membranes swept last week and i'm still here when she examined me i am 100% effaced 3cm dialed babes head sitting on cervix if it got any lower it would pop out and i have lost my plug, babes is too comfy i think.

good luck

sarahjk - Friday, 9 May
if i was you i would go and have a check up but refuse to have the internal, your entitled to say no. good luck

sunny3 - Friday, 9 May
i have had excruciating pain during one of my internals. you are probably just very sensitive to touch there right now. its totally normal though.

havinababyinmay - Friday, 9 May
I don't know why you have so much pain..I'm sorry to hear you dred getting the exam. Are they doing a mambrane sweep when they give you the exam cuz that is kinda painful for some people

waralba - Thursday, 8 May
I think it depends on the situation if an episiodomy is necessary or right. I left it up to my Dr. on my last one. He said I was starting to tear, so he went ahead and cut, BUT my epidural had worn off completely by then and it HURT! This time I asked him to avoid it if at all possible, because the recovery from it was worse than actually delivering.

daisymum2be - Thursday, 8 May
I was pretty much convinced you'd be early! lol ah well, still time yet.
How are things? x x

Nora - Thursday, 8 May
Don't worry. If the doctor needs to do an episiotomy, you won't feel it. You will get a pain reliever.
Oh and don't be concerned about a darker colored vulva. That's normal due to more blood flow. It'll all go back to normal eventually. Good luck with your delivery. Just because your baby seems big doesn't mean you'll have a hard time. Our bodies are meant to do this. :)

Hiya how are things? see you've still got a person in your womb... x

LauraBelle21 - Monday, 28 April
Hello! Yes I was induced...and it was crazy. I went in got changed and they took all my vitals. Then they started my pitocin. If your cervix and baby are ready, the pitocin can pick up really quickly, for me it took about an hour for the contractions to start but they weren't painful, just uncomfortable. They slowly (or quickly) get harder and harder and once they hit, they hit like a bomb....and its killer, but no fear, an epidural is very soon in your future! Once they do the epi, your going to dialate really quickly...I went from a 4 to 9 in less than 2 hours. And from that point on its all about pushing. With the epi you don't feel much at all and in lucky cases like mine your baby literally just slides out lol. You will feel the pressure to push when its time. I've heard of inductions going as quickly as a few hours after pitocin was started but it took 12 hours for the contractions to put me in active labor. Hope this helps....if you need anything else, just let me know! And Congrats and good luck!

I'm glad I was able to give you strength with my message. Just continue to trust in yourself and your body.

We're almost there!

oh dear poor you, try and relax or you could prolong things. when in labour get on all fours it makes it quicker. the pain is mind over matter every pain brings your baby closer to you and when the big pain comes it's the end. another thing to think about, keep saying to yourself this time tomorrow it will all be over and i'll have my baby. hope this makes you feel a bit better. take care

Don't be scared. This is my first too. Take comfort and gather strength in knowing all the people who have had children before you and who made it through. I'm not saying it's going to be super pleasant, but I hear it's definitely do-able.

A woman who has had 5 children naturally without pain medication told me that when the baby crowns it feels exactly like when you hook your fingers in the sides of your mouth and pull and that buring sensation starts. Not too bad, I can handle that.

Also, know that fear causes tension, and tension causes pain... so it is REALLY important that you relax when you go into labor. Listen to soothing music, focus on breathing slowly and deeply, and don't fight your body. You have to trust that your body knows what it's doing and is doing what it was designed to do and just go with it.

I'm doing HypnoBirthing, and I think it's fabulous.. if you can find the book definitely look into it and read as much of it as you can before you go into labor...

Good luck, and if you need anything please feel free to write me!

mrsjcarr - Sunday, 27 April
Hey there! The labor will not be that bad....If you can take the contractions that you are having now or that you will have in the next few days or so, then you will be fine. At this point I would have my baby natural if she would just come out! LOL....Either way it goes, I wish you blessing and luck! Take care!

Heather84 - Saturday, 26 April
Awww great! The 10th, bet you're getting very excited!!! Glad your sleeping has been getting better too. Keep in touch :-)
