Ya hoo! I'm glad the gripe water worked! You just never know what will do the trick. Maybe her tummy is figuring things out too which is making her better overall. I hope you are getting some of your adult quiet time back!

My goodness she s putting you through the lot isnt she?! She only had 3 oz all day?! So I guess she refusing to nurse too then? Its a horrible feeling isnt it? I just dont understand why he doesnt want to eat.. and the stress of pushing food on him is getting too much for me The doctors wont really give me much thought because he is gaining weight , so as much as I hate to do it , Im not going to push the food on him and just let him lead the way. He will no doubt start to lose weight and then maybe then they will listen to me that something is not right with this little boys eating.

I am in Woking , Surrey. Where are you ? What do you teach?

I start back to work next week and that should help with the money a little. That and time. TIME. That is what they all say. Since being on maternity leave I did not get as much money as I would if I were to be working and a lot of things came up for us. By the end of November things should be better though. We just have to adjust I suppose.

Hi there,
I noticed your post about your daughter eating for 30 min. then crying like she is in pain for hours. My little girl (almost 5 weeks) was doing the same thing. It broke our hearts. She ended up having bad gas. We gave her gripe water and she would be better within minutes. Have you tried gripe water? Also, we downloaded a "sounds of the womb" CD from ITunes which plays for 70 min. When we play it, it is like a drug and knocks her out. Babies like the white noise. My husband thought I was crazy trying the womb sounds thing, but it worked, thank god! Long crying/screaming bouts are hard to deal with. Just a few ideas for you. Other than that, I have no idea what I am doing (first time Mom).

hey there , I saw your post . Im having major issues with his feeding and is really getting me down. He just cries and cries when its feeding time... I thought babies liked to eat! Are your family close by? Is your husband supportive? I never realised how much "help" a new mother would need....

Canada and the UK have it good when it comes to maternity leave. You are right. Our FMLA leaves something to be desired. A lot of companies vary. My sorority sister's company would give her up to a year off with 100% pay. But by law FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) companies are only required to give you 12 weeks off and then that is not with pay. Not only that, but anything over 6 weeks you need a doctors n ote for. My doctor said 8 weeks on my note so that is why I am taking 8 insted of 6. I also had to take STD (short term disability) in order to get paid and t hat is only 60%. I also had to take my vacation first so now i have no vacation left unless I want to go without pay.

I have a sling that I just got, so I will try that tomorrow. Thanks for the advice!

phonics - Sunday, 24 August
You may be right. How are you getting your daughter ready for the nyrsery?

phonics - Saturday, 23 August
I ordered the sling. Thanks! But what about when she goes to child care? Do they put her in the sling too?

ama-llama - Saturday, 16 August
He he he , sometimes there just isnt an American expression that will do :)

Glad to hear you and your girls are feeling better!

So sorry to read about your frustrating day. If my son gets extra PO'd at life I get frustated as well. Its so hard because you feel like you are supposed to be able to fix everything. I'm sure you are already doing eveything you can. Just be patient. If you know that Anna is safe and has everything she needs, than that is all you can do. If you are concerned that there might be something wrong, don't hesitate to call the doc. Otherwise, when I can do no good with my son, I put him down in the crib and turn the mobile on for ten minutes, and I try to focus as much as possible on my other child. Its weird, but sometimes my son responds better when I don't constantly mess with him. This is just what works for me. Good luck and remember you are not alone!

I'm sorry your so flustered. I have a routine I go through when Aiden is cranky.

First, I make sure he doesn't need to be changed then I see if he wants the bottle. If not, I pat him on the back (maybe he has a burp in there), then I rock him or sing to him. Also, I look at him closely in the face and talk to him and make light Shshhh sounds... AND if all that fails then I sit him in his vibrating bassinett and put the nature sound on the loudest volume and walk away for a few minutes. If he's still crying then I pick him up and start all over again. Last night nothing worked soo I sat in a dark room and rocked him in the rocker. Ohh you can try running the water and standing next to it with the baby. Also, the vacuum or hair dryer works sometimes! I hope some of this helps you out!

Prolapsed? What were you meaning by that. I was just wondering.

I enjoyed reading your birth story...I've never heard anyone talk about using the TENS machine...did you get it from your midwife or did you buy it? Way to go on delivering such a big baby! My son was 9 lbs 14 oz and we had a natural delivery at home...next time I might ask about that TENS machine though, it sounds like it worked for you! Congrats! Good Job!
