Birth Story - Well Jacob Tyler was born on October 22nd at 3:45pm. I had gone in the night of the 21st for gel. It did nothing. After the Gel they sent me home and i went to bed. Got up at 4am the next morning and went into the hospital. The induction started at 5:30. Everything was going well. By the time the contractions were getting strong my doc allowed me to get my epidural. That was at about noon. At that point i was dialated to about 3. An hour later i was at about 4. At 2:30 pm i was at dialated to about 6. The doc came in and said that he didn't expect me to deliver until that evening. Well surprise surprise Jacob woke up and wanted to get this thing over with. I went from 6 to 10 in about an hour. I started pushing at 3:30 and he was born less than 15 minutes later. He was 7lbs, 1oz and 21 inches long. He was perfect and healthy. He did have a touch of jaundice but never needed to go under the lights. Thank goodness.

Update: December 15, 2007

Unfortunatly, less than a week after bringing him home we were back in the hospital for 3 days b/c he had viral menengitis (spelling?). Which apparently is the best kind to have (least harmful) but it is never easy seeing your 5 day old baby laying with IVs and an oxygen tubes. Thank goodness he is fine now and completely recovered from that. Shortly after that his older brother had to have surgery for his adnoids. He has completely recovered and now we are just tryign to get past the new baby regresion. Also, We are fighting a mild case of Thrush. What is awful is the medicine is worse than the thrush. It is upseting his stomach and making him just miserable. That combined with the colic is making for long days/nights. We are still successfully breast feeding, YEA! I have had to cut almost everythign out of my diet so that the colic isn't as bad. I REALLY miss mac and cheese (hehe). Well that is everything for now. Just getting ready for the holidays.

October 16, 2007

Had my doctor appt yesterday. My induction has been pushed back until the 22nd. The doctor had me in a bit of a panic b/c he thought the baby had turned again and was breech. He was also concerned with his heartrate that it was to high. So off for a sonagram we went. Everything is fine (thank goodness). The baby is head down, his heart rate was fine. He is measuring a bit small for his age but he is still within his 2 week give or take so the doctors aren't concerned. So now i am scheduled to go into the hospital sunday night for gel and then have to be back Monday mornign for induction. The docs won't let me push it back anymore b/c of GD. So if he doesn't come on his own before then he will be here monday! Wish me luck!

October 10, 2007

I had a doctor appt yesterday. My induction date is set for the 17th! Yea an end date. Now i just need to get everything done before then! Yea right! Well wish me luck and I will be sure to post pics and a birth story when i get out of the hospital. Good luck to you all you ladies!

8-16-07

Well i am 30 weeks 1 day today. I had my doctor's appt yesterday and all is looking well. I am measuring exactly 30 weeks (so yea right on time). I have gained 9lbs so far. I guess that isn't to much but with my first pregnancy i only gained 3lbs from conception to birth so it seems like a lot to me!

8-11-07

Well i think we finally decided on a name.. Jacob Tyler. I haven't updated in a while, but here goes... I am now 29 weeks 3 days, I have gained 4lbs so far (as of almost a month ago, i go back to the docs on Aug 15th) and i am getting huge. My doctor and i are assuming i have GD even though i didn't actually take the 1 hour or the 3 hour test. She said b/c i had it with my last pregnancy there is only about a 5% chance i won't have it with this one, so why take the test. I will just test and watch and make sure that I keep the baby and myself safe! Other than that it has been an ok pregnancy. I have all the usual complaints, sore lower back, itchy streach marks, etc. The baby is sitting really low and i think he is still in a breach position but has flipped at least once and then back again. If i ever figure out how i will add pics! Hope everyone is well! Good luck ladies!

IT's A BOY!!This makes boy number 2.If the baby is as active as my two year old, then my husband and I are in trouble!hehe.Still working on a name!

I am 29 and live in Northern VA with my husband of 5 years and my 2 year old son. We are expecting baby number 2 in October. We can't wait! I am currently just hoping this pregnancy is easier than my last one. During my first pregnancy i had PCOS, gestational diabetes (diet controlled) and PUPPS at the end. So far so good. I have had a bit more morning sickness this time (i think). I didn't know i was pregnant last time until 13 weeks.

Hey! I just saw your post about your friend and her lack of mouth filter. I'm so sorry that she is not being supportive of you-- not fair. I also have a friend that is like that. She is constantly making comments about how she hopes that we wait a loooong time before having another. We are actually ttc right now, and it is definitely something that we don't talk about. I'm sure she will have plenty to say after I'm pregnant again:)

hey, I just saw your response to my question in the recovery after birth section. I didnt think these were blood clots because they're not red or brown, they're like light tan or whitish and rock hard- like little grains of sand or something. Is that the same thing you had? Thanks!

well i hope things get better for you... im sure its extremely stressful!.. i know once you get moved, settled, and all this is behind you.. youre gonna feel sooooo much better!.. there is light at the end of the tunnel!

i appreciate your help with the carseats.. honestly i was torn between the alpha and the britax.. but i like everything about the britax and only a few things about the alpha.. and i feel like it may be worth spending the extra and not having to buy another (until its time for the booster).. she still has one strap adjustment to go in her graco and shes got 8lbs before reaching that limit.. so i know theres a few good months left in it! .. i dunnos.. ill just have to discuss things with hubby and see how he feels.. thank you again for all your help!..

hey you... how are things going?...

i had a question regarding the alpha omega... we tried it out at babies r us.. the only two they had on display were the elite and the luxe.. which both only hold up to 40lbs... they had a couple on a cart that were just the alpha omega.. and it said it held up to 50lbs.. none of the sales people could seem to help us with our questions tho... anyways.. we put my daughter in the alpha omega elite.. and adjusted the straps as high as they would go (just to see how much room she had in it).. well she only had about 3 inches from her shoulders to the shoulder strap limit... i feel that she would out grow the harness quickly.. so do you think it would be a waste of money to purchase this one?... our other option is to put the britax on lay-a-way at usa baby... any thoughts?..

Hi there,
Great questions! My daughter did stay for the whole birth and is GREAT! She is very close with her brother, doesn't think anything negative about it at all, quite the contrary. She is very proud that she was there and feels special for having been a witness to Simon's grand enterance. We talked ahead of time about how mommy might make funny noises, cry or groan in pain. She's very mature for he age. During transition stage she rubbed my arm, whispered a prayer to me, brought me a drink and was very much a little support person! She say's now she would like to be a midwife when she grows up and marry a zoo keeper so she can do both her favorite things; tend animals and mommies having new babies! Tell your friend to go for it!

Thanks so much for replying about breastfeeding. I remain ever hopeful and prayerful that this time will work out better than last time. It's encouraging to hear that each child is different and it really might not be that bad this time. Maybe we will try the shields from the beginning with this one, knowing how sensitive I already am. What exactly are they, just like little plastic covers? Any trick to them?

Thanks, this link really helped!

Thanks for your post, after a rough evening for my little one with a bad tummy ache and gas I went to wal mart in the early hours of the morning and bought some Kayro syrup to try. He is only eating about 2-3 oz at a time, would you have any suggestion on how much syrup to use in that amount of formula? With his next feeding I may try a small amount. I also picked up some other items in case this does not work I can call the doctor and if he tells me to use the supositories (spelling ? ) then I will have them on hand and for the whole 2 bucks it cost it wont hurt to have in the house. Thanks for your imput on our little issue.

I read your post about your inlaws. If you want to vent I would be gald to be on the recieving end. I have problems with my in-laws but from the little I read on the board it sounds like your situation is worse, and it would be nice to be able to listen to someone eslses stuggles with their in-laws besides dwelling on my own.

oh goodness.. you didnt have to do that!.. i know how busy you are!.. silly!.. but i really do appreciate it! .... im not sure which they have at big lots.. but we plan on takin a look this weekend.. carseats are definitely the most confusing part of parenthood so far *at least when it comes to which products to buy!* Lol.. i dont think ive put so much thought into one thing like i have with carseats... im wore out! .. ill let ya know what we end up with tho.. and thank you so much for taking the time to help me out!.. hope everything is good in your world.. have a great night!

*Precious.Moments* - Tuesday, 29 July
oh Lol.. my goodness huh?.. poor kid sounds like hes scared of just about everything..

thx for the info on the carseat... dont worry about researching unless youre super bored at work or something! .. you have more than enough on your plate without worrying about researching for me.. i can look it up.. its probably like you said anyways.. i really really appreciate your help in making this decision!!..

good luck with getting the house sold!..
and have a great night.. ttyl

*Precious.Moments* - Monday, 28 July
oh btw.. theres a Safety First alpha omega.. and a Cosco alpha omega.. they look REALLY similar to me.. is there a difference?.. im so confused!!! Lol .. oh oh.. and theres the alpha omega and the alpha omega elite.. is one better than the other?... im sorry so many questions.. just know youre the most knowledgable person i know when it comes to carseats! =D

*Precious.Moments* - Monday, 28 July
well its good to know hes comfy.. im sure she will be too.. shes really started to dislike her infant seat cuz it leans so far back *and we have it perfectly level*.. she tries to sit up and cant and i think it ticks her off Lol... well probably go check em out this weekend.. its also nice knowing itll last a couple years.. at least..

so yall are gonna have to show the home while youre still livin in it?.. i cant imagine how awkward that might be.. my gramma is going thru it cuz theyre renting and the landlord decided it was time to sell.. so they have people walking thru just about every weekend.. she HATES it Lol.. its disruptive.. but i guess ya gotta do what ya gotta do.. ..

so is he scared to go up the stairs cuz theyre too steep?.. if so i can totally relate.. theres just some staircases that freak me out! .. poor kid..

itll be nice once yall are moved and settled.. i cant believe the difference in my energy level and how good i feel since we moved.. i swear our old house was causing depression!.. i was always tired there...it was odd.. wed be out doin stuff runnin errands and seein people feelin good and energized and as soon as we pulled in the driveway both of us felt so drained.. and no matter how much we cleaned it never FELT clean ya kno?...

anyways mama.. hope ya have a great day.. take care of yourself and those boys!
