Today I have an appt with my dr to check for the heartbeat, etc. I've been spotting brown discharge the past 3 days so they want to check everything out to make sure all is okay. I'm so nervous, I hope the heartbeat is still strong and the baby is healthy. I will update as soon as I come home.

Wednesday, 28 Nov
Okay everything is normal and the baby is healthy. Got to hear the heartbeat again. It was 149bpm. So I'm so excited, we set the u/s appt to find out the sex for Jan 3rd. 4 weeks away! I cannot wait.

IT `S A BOY!!

That makes sense. I would be with you on that one, as far as not wanting him to get hurt. I hope it goes great when you get it done, though! :)

OMG Honey! You have been through alot! If I had the choice when Devin was 2 days old to have him under vs awake I would have had him under. It is just 10 seconds of pain but still. At least with general anesthesia he won't be in pain. After care is easy. When my dad was 11 he was circ'd. Back then in Eurpoe they did it as kids and not infants. Do it asap. Try to get a second opinion on all of this if it makes you feel better.

berbaby3 - Friday, 25 July
I am on my way out, I will post you when I get home, But if they have to put him under anyway is it something that can wait till he is older?

thebigtomato - Friday, 25 July
It sucks that they didn't do it, but at least it wasn't done and done badly! I am so relieved to hear that he is ok. I understand why you are upset, though. I would be too if they told me they wanted to put my baby under general anesthesia to do something that they do for newborns with no anesthesia. Personally, I think the anesthesia is more dangerous than the procedure and his doctor is messed up in the head! Why can't they just do local? Did they say?

MommyJewels - Friday, 25 July
What is going on love? I must have missed something. We are all here for you!

thebigtomato - Friday, 25 July
Is everything ok? I'm concerned. When you feel like posting, please let us know what's going on...

azmommytobe - Friday, 25 July
Oh My! Poor guy! Why did they do it now vs hospital? Is he doing ok? Beter now though than as a kid! Keep us informed

ladobruk - Friday, 25 July
It is so traumatic seeing your baby in pain. I hope everything is ok.

nmck - Friday, 25 July
oh no, honey! I know I changed my son's first diaper after his circ, and I was devastated to see blood. I just did not realize he would bleed. I felt like the worst mom i the world for signing papers that said they could do that to my son. He was swollen, and slightly less hungry for a day or two. But he got it done on a Wed. and was 90% healed by Saturday. I really hope nothing went wrong medically and you are just talking about how difficult it is as a mom. I will say a prayer for you and your little prince!

You know they measure colic in 3's. 3 hours a day, 3 times a week, etc. With reflux they measure in 6's.
6 hrs a day, neighbors 6 houses down can hear him, by 6 pm you need a 7 and 7. LOL
I know what you are going through. Devin's worst day was on our anniversary of course. He cried for 17 hours! If you have a bouncer/vibrator chair try to swaddle him in it and just let him sleep there and see if it helps. Devin did that for 1 week and still does it sometimes. I turn the vibrating part off though, so they don't rely on it to sleep. The position feels good to them.
Since you have an HMO, go to your insurance website and choose a Dr. Then call your insurance and change his PCP. Super easy!
Thanks for your photo comment too, thats so sweet of you.

bellakimmie - Thursday, 24 July
OMG your kidding? Everyone I talk to is saying...why is such a poor sleeper? You should give him some cereal!.....They're pissing me off. Grrrr....I'm glad to hear that, hopefully it changes soon. :)
thanks for responding.

azmommytobe - Wednesday, 23 July
We have an HMO (Cigna) for insurance. What happens with an HMO is you will call your insurance and change your Primary Care Psysician to whom ever is in that network and who you want to see.
You can change your PCP 2 times a month I think. If you have a PPO you have no worries.

Squive - Wednesday, 23 July
Your son is beautiful! Don't let that dr. scare you! I hope you are feeling better :)

azmommytobe - Wednesday, 23 July
WOW! Well maybe see another ped for a second opinion? Gosh, I am sorry!
Yeah, I am your reflux girl! It really started with Devin at 2 weeks and got worse. Cried in his sleep, car seat, lying on back, bathing, etc.
If those seem to help a little, then ask your ped. Those remedies, along with his zantac have helped sooo much.
Also, my Dr has him on Lactobacillious (Yogurt cultures) 2 capsules a day. Go to www.reflux.org and read all the symptoms, My 1st Dr kept telling me it was colic. GRRR

azmommytobe - Wednesday, 23 July
Hey Luvmybun! I guess it is safer than anything and some doctors are like that. I guess I say that because my son had a pediatrician for his first 9 weeks and didn't listen to me and made me feel crazy. Now I have a doctor who diagnosed his reflux and so on.
Try these things if you haven't already :
Feed him upright and burp him every 2 oz if you can. Then after he is done eating keep him upright for 15 min.
My son did a complete 360. He would cry in his car seat and only slept on his tummy before. Now is he a happy baby. He is on Zantac too.
They say now though too that spit up and drool are normal at this stage. My son never had spit up and now he does. No correlation to the reflux.
Don't worry about your Dr. Just follow his lead and if the outcome is what you think it will be maybe switch doctors? I know it's hard!

juliedue2008 - Wednesday, 23 July
