This is our first baby and we are so excited. Hoping for a Boy, but as long as the baby is healthy a girl would be loved just as much. I have had 4 ultrasounds performed because I kept thinking something was wrong with the baby and the doctor thought it best to check it all out.
The recent doctor's appointment was yesterday and the baby is doing well. My husband and I heard the heartbeat in the doctor's office for the second time and I was releived. Ever since the tiredness went away at 12 weeks, I didn't even feel pregnant anymore. Just a few ligament pains here and there, so I was real happy to hear the baby's heartbeat in the belly.
Our next ultrasound is on December 11th and that is hopefully the day we confirm the sex of the baby, as long as the baby cooperates.

We found out the sex of the baby is actually a girl this week. We don't know what we shall name her. We both are planning on having a 4d ultrasound sometime in January. We love the bump and are thrilled that we will be having a daughter. Our next appointment is the last day of this year. Looking forward to hearing her heartbeat again and seeing how much she has grown.

On Valentine’s Day, hubby and I went to get the 3D/4D ultrasound done. We both were anticipating the ultrasound for weeks and when this week finally arrived, we both were as excited as little kids on Christmas except we are both adults (sort of) and it was Valentine's Day. Yep we got to see our little LUV on Love Day!

So we arrived in the parking lot a few minutes before our appointment and my Mom was already there waiting for us along with 4 of our friends. We all go into this back room where they have a bed/table, sofa/couch, and 2 folding chairs. The sonographer asks me to lie down on the bed and then the sonographer squirts the ultrasound jelly all over her belly. Luckily the jelly is warm otherwise I might have bounced off the table or something worse.

The sonographer started out in 2D to figure out the baby's position and then converted into 3D. How amazing it was. To see our baby's beautifully developing face and see her move. Simply amazing. If only the walls of Congress were covered with these photos! The sonographer moved back to 2D and we all saw the baby's heartbeat, stomach, and bladder. The sonographer turned on the Doppler and we got to hear the baby's heartbeat. Nice and Strong. Then the sonographer moved down to the WHO-HA area and confirmed that our baby is a girl. According to the sonographer 50% of babies have swollen genitals. That is why sometimes little boys look well HUNG when they are 1st born, but actually it is just swelling. Similar to poison oak of the nuts. Little girls can have swollen labia as well.

The doctor asked me to relieve my bladder. So I immediately sit up and instead of wiping off my belly, I make a B-line for the door. Only I forgot to pull up my pants that are around my hips. After coming back from the bathroom break, I climb back on the table and the doctor squirts more of that U/S jelly stuff on my belly and the procedure continues. The baby has moved and is facing backwards as if she is camera shy. The Sonographer asks me to roll on my right side, then on my left side and the baby just rolls right along with me. It wasn't until my Mom came to the rescue and tickled my belly that the baby started to move back into the camera's angle. So for the rest of the U/S, I would giggle and laugh to get the baby to move.

This experience has been one that we will never forget and recommend it to all pregnant women to indulge and enjoy in the experience.

Message to all This may be interesting to some of you. Seema`s email is seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Hi there,

I work for a television production company based in the UK . We are currently making a documentary for ITV1 exploring the issues surrounding pregnancy and eating disorders. The film will be a thoughtful and insightful look into this extremely sensitive subject.

We’re in the research stage of our production and very keen to chat to women who are, or have been, pregnant whilst having an eating disorder.

If you’re interested in having a chat or finding out more about our documentary, it would be really great to hear from you. All communication would be in complete confidence.

You can contact me on: seema.modhvadia@rdftelevision.com

Thats too bad she ended up with an emergency c! That is what happened to me my last pregnancy. I wasn't expecting it having had 2 vag births. I was devestated. So prepare yourself for both kinds of births because you never know! Good luck to you! We are almost there!

I' so glad everything turned out okay!

If her contractions are less than 5 min apart, she should go NOW! Unless you want to be delivering the baby... :)
Some people's water breaks BEFORE labor, so maybe that's what the midwife was talking about. But on my first baby, they had to break my water, because it wouldn't on it's own( the outside of the bag of waters was too thick). Ten minutes later I was pushing baby out... At least call the midwife and tell her what's going on...

For your friend, I would try walking, to see if it kicks them into high gear and regular.. She doesnt want to go to soon!!
Trust her midwife! They know what they are doing!

If I were your friend I would wait. Try to hold out as long as possible. You want the contractions more regular. She will know when its time. Wait till it becomes actually painful and not uncomfortable. Once you go to the hospital they try to keep you in bed, they dont allow water or food. It sucks! My first labor was 72hrs. Let me tell you i went way too early and paid the price. 2nd time I waited till the last min and im so glad i did. Good luck to your firend

The baby soaks up some of your hormones when it's inside you. After it's born, it clears out of it's system. Totally normal.

dancewithmegirl - Friday, 22 Feb
my mom told me not to be scared if my little girl has swollen genitals as all of us 3 sisters were born that way, it's normal and goes back to normal size in just a few days.

teenMOMMIE - Friday, 22 Feb
im having mine done at 29 weeks. i cant waittt! :D they did one for fun at 17 weeks, it was so cute, so now i HAVE to have another one heh

jen943 - Friday, 22 Feb
The swollen genitals are very common. My son had them when he was born too. It is from all the hormones is what I was told.

amberd - Thursday, 21 Feb
I have heard that when they are born but not while in the womb?? But its interesting to know

teenMOMMIE - Thursday, 21 Feb

babyagain - Wednesday, 20 Feb
SHE IS BEAUTIFUL! I too had the 3d/4d sonogram, and was amazed to look at our babys face! I cried, it was the best experience that I have ever had, and all because my hubby bought me the package for V-day!

Your daughter is adorable, and already has cute little chubby cheeks. CONGRATS!

angelle23 - Tuesday, 19 Feb
No she didn't do that. She told me it was a girl forsure (100%) But to me I am not sure. I can't really make anything of it. Congrats to you.

renee26 - Thursday, 31 Jan
Heya,

Noticed your poll on birthing courses. I think any course that prepares you is a good idea...have you thought about hypnobirthing?? The chance of a pain free, drug free labor and birth:)

lynnkc - Friday, 18 Jan
I think it is a girl. How are you carrying? I know it is an old wives tale but it is still fun.

babyagain - Friday, 18 Jan
Your baby is most def. a girl. I don't know how they can misguide you by the heartrate. My frist daughter's heartrate was 183...my second daughter was always in the 130's and this time around (our boy) has always been in the 150's. the heartrate is as individual as the little babies themselves. Congrats on your baby girl!!

mammy - Friday, 18 Jan
Hi, i just read your comment on my baby name poll. My mums name is Magdalene but she won't let anyone shorten it. I love Maggie though! Good Luck with everything and thanks for your comment.

jen943 - Friday, 18 Jan
Looks like a girl. And regarding the heartbeat thing, both my 2 year old boy and my current pregnancy (boy) had 'girl' heartbeats.

Megane - Friday, 18 Jan
Looks like a girl. Going by heartbeat is just an old wives tale. :)

branbug - Thursday, 17 Jan
I would say a girl 100% looks just like my lil girls pic

jacquelyn - Thursday, 17 Jan
Definitely looks like a girl to me. I'm having a girl, too. Congratualtions!
