My first baby !

I'm so excited to be having my first baby, and have been very thrilled that so far this pregnancy has been not as tough as I hear it is for some women ( I was lucky to not to have morning sickness ). This pregnancy wasn't planned but my partner and I are embracing the pregnancy with open arms. We were going to wait a couple more years and do some traveling but I guess it was meant to be.

Our last pregnancy wasn't so successful. I had an ectopic pregnancy ( embryo plants itself somewhere other than uterine lining, in my case it was the fallopian tube ) and ended up losing a fallopian tube due to the damage. I was crushed, and wasn't sure I would be able to have a successful pregnancy with the other tube being possibly damaged as well. So this is a very special pregnancy for my partner and I.

I have never been so happy in my life that I can remember.

It's a boy!!

Just got back from the utrasound, and wow that took a long time. The tech took all sorts of pictures ! I was lying there staring at the ceiling fan wondering how my little one was doing in there. My partner was finally allowed to come in and the monitor was finally aimed at me. I was so curious as to what we were having and she showed a little protruding "nub" from in between the legs. She says she can't be 100% sure, but even Adam and I could see visibly we are going to have a son!! Boys seem to run in his family, so it's not a shocker that we are going to have one too. I'm so thrilled!!! The tech says everything looked great, we even saw him drinking some amniotic fluid! Other than that I had to cough a couple of times to get the little guy to move because it seemed he was having a snooze. What a great day so far!! The weather is at it's best today too, the warmest it's been all year with the sun shining. I feel my son is shining inside me too :)

Something is wrong?....

The results from the lastest ultrasound unveiled something called a choroid plexus cyst in the brain. The news for me has been a challenge to deal with. The Doctor said it's nothing to be alarmed about because in most cases they dissapear when the baby is 24-28 weeks. It's considered a "soft marker" which is an indication there may be a genetic disorder, but because all the other markers for a genetic disorder aren't there I've been told that everything should be ok. Luckily the area the cyst is in doesn't affect development of the baby or the personality and there is no brain damage. My little guy is simply producing too much fluid for it to drain properly (the area is associated with the spinal fluid). I wish that I could be worrying about irrelevant things like my weight and stretch marks and how bloated I feel some days instead of how my baby's brain is doing. This information really puts things in perspective that anything can happen. It's times like this I really think about the mothers to be out there that have had to deal with much more challenging things like Trisomy 18, a child with Down Syndrome, Edwards Syndrome or any other disorder. I'll just stay positive and be patient for now. His little kicks are getting more and more frequent and stronger which puts a great big smile on my face.

A sigh of relief :)

Results from the bloodwork came back negative for any genetic abnormalities. I can finally rest my mind. I'm glad that i didn't stress about it too much, but it was annoying not knowing. They misplaced the bloodwork results so that's why we had to wait so long. Mistakes do happen, and i'm glad I was as patient as I could have been. I'm learning that alot of pregnany is being patient, and I know soon as I have a baby I will need to have even more patience. Almost 25 weeks as i'm typing this and i'm so happy. He's getting stronger by the day, his movements more forceful and consistant.

We just need to get his crib and change table now. There's such a huge pile of baby stuff accumulating, and I think having his changetable/dresser will help. I can't wait to set that up!!

Awww thanks. Your comment's really sweet.

I haven't forgotten about you either. You and your baby are always in my prayers. I can't wait for 11 more weeks. It's actually some kind of mixed feelings for me. I can't wait to hold my baby yet at the same time it's like I don't want her to come out. I'm loving every feeling!!! Hahahahaha Sounds crazy but maybe I'm just so excited since we've been waiting for this for 3 years.

Anywho, I do hope your GD test comes out negative too. I'm guessing if you fasted prior to the test, you shouldn't be worried about it. I'm going to take another one probably next week (if I can drag my fat ar$e off the bed) just to be sure since my Endocrinologist wants another proof I'm diabetes-free lol. I know I haven't gained more than 10 lbs... I so envy you. I know I'm big already to start with but I want to actually look pregnant. Not just fat with a tummy! It shows if you know I'm pregnant but if I wear plain t-shirts, it can still seem just like a fat tummy.

I'm having another rescan on Thursday since, like me, my baby was asleep during the first scan. I'll let you know when the new ones are up. It's so exciting to get them done past this stage, I actually saw her open her eyes!!!!! I can't wait for you to have yours. It's such a wonderful experience.

hey, you wrote me about a comment you made asking how long it is before the baby can get nourishment from the placenta after we ate and about how long they sleep...i just rented "in the womb"(if you havent seen it, you should rent it) they said the baby is just devoloping taste buds now and can taste what we are eating now which helps if your breatfeeding because its familiar to them although they didnt say how long it took before they got to taste what we eat. As far as the sleep, all it said is that at this time they sleep VERY soundly 90% of the time(which i dont believe because im always getting KICKED!) hope that helps a little, but definitly rent in the womb if you can!

Hey you how are you feeling?

That's funny--how could they tell it was a boy? Whenever I see those pic on here asking if it's a boy or girl I'm like uhhhh, I've never seen your belly before it was pregnant, how should I know anything about it now! I usually feel good when I wake up, but by the end of the day, I feel like I have an elephant in my uterus and my husband has to pull me up out of bed to go pee. You're so lucky you're getting regualar movement. I get a few kicks in the AM and some rolling around a night with the occasional kicks during the day. It's scary si I'm always on the verge of running off to Labor and Delivery for fetal monitoring if I don't feel those AM kicks. Oh well, it's just one more thing to try not to worry about.

I have the changing table Crib and Cradle waiting to be picked up at Babies R Us I just haven't gotten there yet. His room is still full of excercise equipment so we have some work to do and soon! I can't wait to be in the final stretch of the pregnancy, it's been pretty uncomfortable and stressful but it's all worth it he closer we get to holding our babies, right?
Take care of yourself,
Hannah

aw thanks for your kind message on my page! I really could go after the restaurant, but what's the point? It was pretty scary. When they first hooked me up to the monitor, the nurse couldn't find the baby's heartbeat. It seemed like an eternity and then when she did, it was like 108. I really thought I was going to pass out. She went and got another nurse who found it right away--turns out the first one was looking too high up--but really I was crying by the end and my husband was totally panicked. It's funny, I feel like I'm carying an elephant around in my belly and he's got so much growing to do. We're having hundred degree days down here and it's yucky! How are you feeling? How's the baby?

Thank you for replying to my message regarding Braxton Hicks....... I am expecting twins so don' think my delivery is going to be a walk in the park.... i do get worried when i get them as they can be very uncomfortbale as my tummy is hard anyway but when i do get a braxton hick it is solid and very uncomfortable

I can't remember what it feels like to have a full blown contraction as last time i was pregnant was 10 years ago with my daughter but i am sure when it happens i will remember very quickly! all i can say is stay mobile and if you can get in and out of the bath as it helped me.

Good luck xxxxxx and thank you again xx
