My first baby !

I'm so excited to be having my first baby, and have been very thrilled that so far this pregnancy has been not as tough as I hear it is for some women ( I was lucky to not to have morning sickness ). This pregnancy wasn't planned but my partner and I are embracing the pregnancy with open arms. We were going to wait a couple more years and do some traveling but I guess it was meant to be.

Our last pregnancy wasn't so successful. I had an ectopic pregnancy ( embryo plants itself somewhere other than uterine lining, in my case it was the fallopian tube ) and ended up losing a fallopian tube due to the damage. I was crushed, and wasn't sure I would be able to have a successful pregnancy with the other tube being possibly damaged as well. So this is a very special pregnancy for my partner and I.

I have never been so happy in my life that I can remember.

It's a boy!!

Just got back from the utrasound, and wow that took a long time. The tech took all sorts of pictures ! I was lying there staring at the ceiling fan wondering how my little one was doing in there. My partner was finally allowed to come in and the monitor was finally aimed at me. I was so curious as to what we were having and she showed a little protruding "nub" from in between the legs. She says she can't be 100% sure, but even Adam and I could see visibly we are going to have a son!! Boys seem to run in his family, so it's not a shocker that we are going to have one too. I'm so thrilled!!! The tech says everything looked great, we even saw him drinking some amniotic fluid! Other than that I had to cough a couple of times to get the little guy to move because it seemed he was having a snooze. What a great day so far!! The weather is at it's best today too, the warmest it's been all year with the sun shining. I feel my son is shining inside me too :)

Something is wrong?....

The results from the lastest ultrasound unveiled something called a choroid plexus cyst in the brain. The news for me has been a challenge to deal with. The Doctor said it's nothing to be alarmed about because in most cases they dissapear when the baby is 24-28 weeks. It's considered a "soft marker" which is an indication there may be a genetic disorder, but because all the other markers for a genetic disorder aren't there I've been told that everything should be ok. Luckily the area the cyst is in doesn't affect development of the baby or the personality and there is no brain damage. My little guy is simply producing too much fluid for it to drain properly (the area is associated with the spinal fluid). I wish that I could be worrying about irrelevant things like my weight and stretch marks and how bloated I feel some days instead of how my baby's brain is doing. This information really puts things in perspective that anything can happen. It's times like this I really think about the mothers to be out there that have had to deal with much more challenging things like Trisomy 18, a child with Down Syndrome, Edwards Syndrome or any other disorder. I'll just stay positive and be patient for now. His little kicks are getting more and more frequent and stronger which puts a great big smile on my face.

A sigh of relief :)

Results from the bloodwork came back negative for any genetic abnormalities. I can finally rest my mind. I'm glad that i didn't stress about it too much, but it was annoying not knowing. They misplaced the bloodwork results so that's why we had to wait so long. Mistakes do happen, and i'm glad I was as patient as I could have been. I'm learning that alot of pregnany is being patient, and I know soon as I have a baby I will need to have even more patience. Almost 25 weeks as i'm typing this and i'm so happy. He's getting stronger by the day, his movements more forceful and consistant.

We just need to get his crib and change table now. There's such a huge pile of baby stuff accumulating, and I think having his changetable/dresser will help. I can't wait to set that up!!

Thank you for replying to my message regarding Braxton Hicks....... I am expecting twins so don' think my delivery is going to be a walk in the park.... i do get worried when i get them as they can be very uncomfortbale as my tummy is hard anyway but when i do get a braxton hick it is solid and very uncomfortable

I can't remember what it feels like to have a full blown contraction as last time i was pregnant was 10 years ago with my daughter but i am sure when it happens i will remember very quickly! all i can say is stay mobile and if you can get in and out of the bath as it helped me.

Good luck xxxxxx and thank you again xx

Hi there, Thank you so much for checking on us. We are doing great. I go to the doctor Tuesday to be checked and have an u/s to see what her plan is concerning the position of the baby since it turned sideways. I really really really don't want a c-section so I'm praying. Yesterday was one of our showers it was so nice. We got to see people we had not seen for acutal years and the gifts they blessed us so much we are set for the first few months or more. I have been keeping so busy that time is really flying by now. I hope the baby stays put for a couple more weeks cause We have so much going on Our oldest is going to a universitiy today for a week she stays involved and will be a college experiance business week. She just got her driver license a little over a week ago and our middle daughter is continuating from elementary to middle school. Then my doctor has to leave town on the 17th to go to a meeting at college with her son who got accepted into law school. I'm so old school that I will post pic of the shower when I get them developed since I don't have digital I really need to go digital. Well I hope you have a blessed Sunday and I look forward to ttys. Blessings and thank you for keeping us in your thoughts.

YUP! That's what I was thinking cuz you can always lose weight. I duno why my dr. was making me feel bad :-( but she wasnt even the dr. she was the nurse so I guess if my dr. tells me something then I'll start to worry. Good luck with everthing!

I didn't pass the 2nd hour during the test but it's not really any cause for alarm. I'm still free to eat what I want (esp. sweets) in moderation. I'll just be getting another fasting blood sugar test by end of June to see if it has escalated to the fasting level. Hopefully I don't get to do the 3-4hr test anymore. I hate that orange thing.

I'm going to have the 3D4D tomorrow. If only she had her hands around or beside the face, that would've been fine last Saturday. But being as stubborn as mommy, my baby had her legs and feet ON its face. I'm so excited for tomorrow. I'll let you know as SOON as I get back. Can you feel my excitement??? lol

Maybe Adam will change his mind when it's near your term. =) Let's hope. The only reason we're having it done is because we're going for the package with 5 scans for only about $200USD (converted from peso). It's such a great bargain for us. It's will have 2 DVDs of the 4D images and a CD of all the still photos. I didn't need to convince hubby much, he was as excited as me (as we waited for this child for 3 years!) but we had to tighten our belts on other things such as our habit of eating out. lol

Nyways, I'll send you a message real soon! =) You and your little one be safe!!

thanks re your comment on the advice. I see u r in your 30s too... I just feel for these girls that r 20 (or less or a little more) going through what they are... thinking the way they do. I remember 21... Everything felt like the end of the world! You couldn't pay me enough to go back! I think these girls are lucky to have us to go to for advice... We didn't have the internet!

I couldn't find the kidforme entry to see what you wrote here, but i'm sure the advice was the same. Get away from that man!!!!

I love Vancouver! I've spent lots of time in TO but still like it here better - I think it's the smell of the air/ocean! All CDNs from the West and East are cool.. the ones in between... well not so sure about them LOL!!! Congrats to you and hope all continues to go well with your little guy!

Sooooooooooooo good to hear that everything went well with the blood work.

I went for my 2nd 3D4D scan last Saturday. My baby had both feet covering the face, and if that wasn't enough, the arms were also covering the face. I guess my baby wanted to play hide and seek that day lol. Or maybe my baby wanted a big audience. The first time I went, I had my mom, grandma and aunt with me and hubby. This time they had to stay home. Gawd, my baby's such a star! No audience = no show lmao. Anyway, it's okay since the good thing about the package I got has free rescans. As long as I come back within 7 days, it's free of charge. I can't wait for Thursday though. I hope my baby's in the vertical position so it can move more, doesn't have both legs covering it's face and doesn't have the umbilical cord wrapped like a seatbelt. We were alarmed about that but luckily it's not completely wrapped around the neck, just like a seatbelt. I hope it's no longer coiled around her. =)

That's really great news! Now you can breathe a sigh of relief, right? I'm trying hard not to let myself worry about anything else. I knew there were so many potential things to worry about! We went shopping for his crib, changing table and stroller and that helps make it feel like he's really going to come and he' going to be fine, but in the mean time, I just want it to be September and I want to see my baby and make sure he's alright. I just noticed you're from Toronto--I'm from the metro NY area but we just drove up to Ontario for a few days to relax in the Niagara wine region--it's gorgeous!

JackaMumma - Sunday, 1 June
I know, poor little thing!! I guess we all have our bad days / photos... some pics just shouldn't be shared

shelly - Friday, 30 May
My test on June 2nd is just a one hour test. I have to drink that drink an hour before I go in for the blood work. If I fail this one, then I would have to go in for the 3 hour test. That is what I truly would like to avoid. I know so many women who had to do the 3 hour test, and afterwards, they were feeling pretty sick. Plus, I am a huge wimp when it comes to having my blood drawn. Wish me luck, and luck back to you!

jamfam - Friday, 30 May

Hey just checking in to see how you are doing. Our air conditioner is out in our house and it's HOT! It went out last summer too when I was pregnant with Phoenix!! We just got a new compressor last year so have no clue what's wrong now

What's weird though is our air has went out for ALL 3 pregnancies!!!! Go figure!
