Hello! This is my first pregnancy, but my third little blessing. I am blessed to be a step-mommy to two amazing little people, and can't wait to introduce them to their new little brother or sister. There is nothing in life that I have wanted more than to be a mommy, so it is such an honor to be trusted with two little lives that didnt come from my womb, and now to experience the miracle of giving birth! Wow! Can't wait!
I'm that crazy woman who is planning an all-natural home water-birth. My midwife is amazing, and I hope that God allows me to accomplish that goal. We shall see! I'm down for whatever HE has in store...
We are waiting to find out the sex of our wee one. It's such a fun mystery, and EVERYONE has an opinion on the matter. If someone believes the baby is a boy or a girl, they are CONVINCED of their theory one way or the other!
I'm so glad to share this miracle with all of you ladies. Through the nausea, headaches, and fatigue, I have to say that I am truly enjoying the entire process. Blessings to you all!
**UPDATE**
So something interesting had to happen, right? This pregnancy has almost been TOO easy! I was recently diagnosed with "manageable gestational diabetes." What the? :o) Not too bad though, just have to really watch what I eat. No sugary foods or refined flour for me! I have seen a MAJOR difference in my readings since I have been regularly eating nopales (cut up cactus leaves). It's an old Mexican remedy for diabetes, and seems to be working for me! Thank goodness! I'd much rather eat something grown from the earth to control this diabetes than man-made insulin or medication. Thanks for creating nopales God! I even got to cheat (with doctor's permission) and have a cupcake at my baby shower! heh... :o)
This seemed fun:
Pregnancy Survey
How far along are you:: 26 ½ weeks Cravings so far:: FRESH LEMONADE! (the whole pregnancy!), chile verde, red wine vinegar, strawberries
Things that make you sick:: Not anymore, but in the beginning I couldn’t stand the smell of artificial fruity stuff like candy or my kids’ toothpaste!
Boy or girl:: waiting until we meet the little one!
Baby's name:: Boy: Abraham Daniel Hosea, Girl: Hannah Grace Hosea
Advice for other pregnant women:: Keep your mind at peace. Worrying, stressing, getting irritated, all affect your baby as well. While you are expending a great deal of effort to make sure you are physically healthy (hopefully), make sure you are spending a good amount of time also making sure you are in a peaceful, healthy mental and spiritual state!
Baby Daddy:: My incredible partner in life, my husband Daniel
His reaction:: Silence, with a BIG hug and a HUGE smile
Greatest memory so far:: Taking my little people to an ultrasound, and my stepson thinking the heart beating was the baby’s mouth opening and closing!
Biggest fear:: Don’t have any. I swear! I trust in whatever is laid out before me for my life and my wee one’s life, good or bad.
Strange symptoms:: Nothing strange, I don’t think…yet…
Advantages of being pregnant:: Women are so much nicer!
Weird dreams:: Too many to list. Every dream I have is vivid, vibrant, and kooky.
Emotional outbursts:: Not really outbursts, but I was a weepy mess on New Year’s Eve going up to all my friends and tearily thanking them for their friendship. And I was the sober one! LOL!
Breast changes:: Oh goodness. One word…Huge.
Waist changes:: I have a pretty teenie torso, so I started showing pretty early. I’ve gained about 13 inches in my waist.
Things you quit for baby:: Coffee, Wine, and Sushi. Oh how I miss thee... And actually, I did the opposite of quit something, in that I started eating meat again!
Most uncomfortable time:: After work…leg cramps.
Worst part of being pregnant:: I swear nothing! I really mean it! Even my discomforts are a reminder of my wee one’s existence, so I embrace them. Of course, talk to me in a couple months when I am 8 months pregnant and it is the hottest part of the summer in Southern California! :o)
Best place for maternity clothes:: Anywhere! The styles are pretty loose and flowy right now, which makes maternity shopping a lot easier on the wallet! For bottoms, Mimi Maternity and Motherhood have these “secret fit belly” things. Pretty dang comfortable.
Taking parenting classes:: Neither parenting nor childbirth. My midwife says I am so well-read I could teach a childbirth class! LOL! As far as parenting classes, I only trust the best parenting “Book” ever written, as well as considering the wisdom and advice others give me.
Pregnancy necessities:: Water! Extra pillows…
Grandparents reaction:: Tears. Lots of ecstatic tears
Aunts? Uncles?:: My brother and sister-in-law, and my husband’s brother and sister-in-law (Who is pregnant as well and due 5 weeks after me! Yay!)
Godparents:: Hmmmm… not sure.
Where will you deliver:: At home
When:: I’m due August 22, but I think baby is coming a week or two early.
Will you breastfeed:: Absolutely. Hopefully baby cooperates.
Will you use cloth diapers:: Yes. And disposables for when I am out and about.
Books you're reading:: No books (other than the Good Book!) but lots of internet surfing, and sifting through all of that to find the true, reliable information.
Another one...
Pregnancy survey
About you
Name: Crystal
Age: 28
Height: 5’7”
Pre-Pregnancy Weight: 131 Lbs. (Before I had my first prenatal appt. I had to call the Dr.’s office where I had my last random appt. to find out, cuz I never weigh myself! LOL!)
About the Father
Name: Daniel
Age: 31
Height: 6’1”
Are you still together?: Very happily married.
About the Pregnancy
Is this your first pregnancy?: Yes
When did you find out you were pregnant?: December 12, 2007.
Was it planned?: Yes. Sort of. Not charting or anything… just not trying NOT to, and well…we were newlyweds! There was plenty of opportunity! ;o)
What was your first reaction?: “Is that a line? I think it’s a line… Wait is it? It’s really faint…No, I really do think it is a line!” Then tears and prayer.
Who was with you when you found out?: Just me and God.
Who was the first person you told?: Well, when my mother-in-law came over later that day, I showed her the test and asked her if she thought there were 2 lines. She said yes. So I guess she was the first to know!
How did your parents react?: SOOOOOOOOO excited! Actually jumped up and down!
What was your first symptom?: I felt super nauseas when I went around collecting gum on a tissue from all my students before their concert. It was so odd, I took a test a few days later.
What is your due date?: August 22, 2008.
Do you know the sex of the baby?: Nope. Don’t want to know until we meet him/her!
If so, what is it?: ...
Have you picked out names?: Yes
If so, what are they?: Boy… Abraham Daniel, Girl…Hannah Grace
How much weight have you gained?: at my 28 week appt, 19 lbs.
Do you have stretch marks?: Not on my belly. I have a small one between my boobs, looks like I had open heart surgery like my mommy! Completely covered by my immense cleavage though!
Have you felt the baby move?: “move” is an understatement
Have you heard the heartbeat?: lots o’ times
About the Birth
Home or hospital birth?: Home. In the water. I know, I’m crazy.
Natural or medicated birth?: Au naturale
Who will be in the delivery room with you?: In the actual room, probably Daniel, my mom, my midwife, my friend Jen taking pics, and my Tia Mercy videotaping. I’d love if my mother-in-law would too, but she would rather be in the backyard with everyone else, making sure they are fed and comfortable. Yeah, we’re basically having a “birth day” party… :o)
Will you breastfeed?: Absolutely.
Do you think you'll need a c-section?: I doubt it. Unless there are complications, and we have to go to the hospital.
Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time?: Again, an understatement. a) I’m Mexican. b) pregnancy hormones c) I just met my wee one. Need I say more? I will be a weepy mess!
What's the first thing you might say to him/her?: Whisper “The Lord He is God” in their ear. Jewish tradition… pretty cool.
Would you let someone videotape the birth?: Yes.
Are you excited about the birth, or scared?: SOOOOO excited. I’m not naïve, I know it is going to be extremely difficult and painful. I embrace the whole experience though, even if it means that we end up not having the birth we have dreamed of, and I end up having to go to the hospital. Either way, it is all beautiful!
aw.. what a cute picture.. you look fabulous! |
