15 week 5 days scan - babys face with hand up to mouth!

15 week 5 days scan - baby laid on their back with arms up behind their head!!

26/06/07 Had bad sickness this morning, as soon as I walked into the kitchen I was sick! Hubby had to make my breakfast and my lunch for work. I feel so awful! Its horrible, I've only had sickness starting in week 9 so I'm hoping that it won't last too long!! I want to go back to how I was feeling in week 8!!!!

28/06/07 It has now turned into evening sickness as well!

30/06/07 Still being sick, can't wait for it to pass! Got my first appointment with the midwife on Monday, can't wait!

03/07/07 Sickness doesn't seem as bad at the moment, fingers crossed its passing! So long as I don't get hungry I'm fine at the moment. Saw the midwife yesterday and spent an hour filling in forms and listening to information. She said she was going to book my scan for 16 weeks, and won't see the midwife again until September. If I want a scan before I have to pay for it privately! Only 5 1/2 weeks until my scan....

01/08/07 Sickness has got worse again. I can't wait until it passes! Hopefully it will do soon! Tummy is getting bigger :) Got my first scan in a weeks time!

08/08/07 Had my scan today! It was soooo amazing to see baby on the screen! The person doing the scan had to keep poking my belly to wake baby up so that we could see them move! Can't wait until January!!

13/10/07 Morning sickness is well and truely gone now! Am starting to feel really tired though! I keep getting lots of kicks from baby, it's amazing, I love it! (It's taken longer to feel baby move due to having an anterior placenta). Only 15 weeks until baby arrives, I can't wait! Am starting to buy a few baby things now.....

10/11/07 Not long left to go now, only 11 weeks! It's gone really quickly! Getting loads of kicks now. Still got lots more baby things to buy!! Sickness is starting to creep back now, been being sick in the mornings, hope it doesn't last!!

09/01/08 STILL have morning sickness!! Only 16 days left until baby is due to arrive, am excited! I hope baby isn't late!!

16/01/08 9 days to go and still waiting for baby to arrive, hoping baby will decide to show soon!!

22/01/08 3 days to go and still waiting.....!!!

26/01/08 Baby was due yesterday and still no sign of arriving! I'm so fed up of being pregnant and just want baby here now! I'm hoping baby is here soon as I don't want to be induced as was planning on having a home water birth.

30/01/08 Baby is now 5 days overdue and still no sign of labour!! Have a membrane sweep tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed that it works!!

05/02/08 Baby is now 11 days overdue. Seeing the midwife this afternoon and am really hoping she is able to do a membrane sweep this time.
Midwife still couldn't do a sweep today. I am now booked in for an induction on Friday. Still hoping that baby will come on their own before then though!

08/02/08 Was supposed to be being induced today. I phoned the hospital before I went in (like they told me to) and I was told not to go in because they were too busy so I wouldn't be being induced! I'm now 14 days overdue, no idea how long they will keep me waiting now!! They told me to phone them tomorrow morning to see if they can fit me in then, but they said they couldn't guarentee anything. GREAT!! Feels like I will be pregnant forever!!

BIRTH STORY

I had to be induced as baby was 2 weeks late! I went into hospital on 9th Feb. After 2 pessaries they still hadn't managed to induce me, so was supposed to go up to the labour ward at midnight to be given a stronger pessary, but they were busy so didn't end up getting me for it. I started having contractions and they were getting painful so I had a bath to try and ease the pain. I went to try and go back to sleep but ended up pacing up and down as I couldn't sleep through the contractions. My waters broke on their own at 430am Sunday morning. I stayed down on the ward for as long as I could, but the contractions started getting even more painful so I went up onto the labour ward so I could have gas and air. I was contracting for 8 hours and was still only 4cm dilated, so they put me on a syntocinon drip, which made the contractions more painful. I still was dilating so they had to up the dosage of the drip 3 times until I did start to dilate. The contractions got really painful so I had to have pethidine at this stage. I was in labour for 16 1/2 hours. At 854pm on Sunday evening I gave birth to a gorgeous baby girl, Erica, weighing 7lb 2oz (3230g), 52 cm long. After I had been stitched up and we were both cleaned up, we went back down onto the ward for the night, and we were allowed home the following evening.

My precious little lady.

Hey! HOw are things? We just tried cereal with Rileys bedtime bottle and twice he has slept through the night! Last night he was up at 1:30, but I'm hoping that will become rarer and rarer! Is your little fish doing better?

yea I can't wait to see the GI specialist...because I feel like his reflux is getting worse..but he's not taking any medicine..so I don't want to give it to him unless it is absolutely necessary. I haven't been able to go to a health shop yet since there is not one by me.

Oh yes! The morning smile especially melts me and all the frustration from little sleep the night before just goes away in an instant. Oh, and Jeff has totally said the same thing! I had a rough night one night with having to get up a couple times, and Jeff wakes up in the morning and goes "wow, he must have slept all throught the night!" I could have kicked him!

I'm glad she is having fun swimming. Does she get mad when you have to get out of the water? Riley is starting to really get an attitude when i take him out of the bath and wont stop "yelling" at me until i feed him.

We are doing well. Hopefully the rice will help her sleep! Ri wakes up about 1 time anywhere from 1:30-3 to eat and then sleeps the rest of the time. We put him down around 8pm. We just moved him to his crib in his room instead of the bassinett by our bed. We are all sleeping ALOT better that way! I dont wake up to his every noise now and he likes the extra room to toss and turn in. But Erica definitly needs to start sleeping more! Mom needs her sleep too! Do you guys just take long naps during the day? I don't think I'd be able to work if I still had to get up every couple of hours. Good luck and hope the rice helps!

We are doing great. I have added back in cheese and some dairy ingredients that are in baked goods. I have also had small amounts of butter. The only day that it seemed to bother her was when I had a slice of cheese pizza. Probably just too much for her to tolerate. The doctor said to go ahead and reintroduce the milk products over 2 weeks and watch carefully to see what she can handle. I am still going to avoid drinking milk though. After that I can do soy products for two weeks and take it from there. So far, so good.

hey how are you and the lil one? did the colic get better? did you get that med i mentioned? hope everything is well

katanddan - Thursday, 29 May
Hi seems you have had some difficult times what with feeds etc .
It can be really demanding when they get problems .Lily used to choke ,she would be sitting and then out of the blue just gag.Our doctor said that the milk was too weak for her and it had to be thicken ,so it would stay down in her tummy .We were told to put a sachet of galviscon in her bottles to thicken up the milk ,it does work but we had to half the sachet as it made her constipated. The galviscon helped her and she had to go onto hungry baby as she was not content on stage one .

She has started to take a wee corner of a rusk and a little baby porridge ,sometimes ,she likes it other times not.

I am glad that Erica is starting to go down in the cot for you ,it not good if you dont get a proper sleep .
I had to go on iron tablets after lily was born as my count was low ,i finished them ,but now the tiredness is back ,so i have to start them again .
I have had the baby blues ,and have spent alot of time at my parents ,but now i am feeling much better thankfully .
I never knew just how much my life would change and just how difficult it could get at times .I feel very lucky i have a great support network around me .
My husband is going to England for 6 weeks to do his HGV Licence and then he is off to a place just outside Iraq .
He is in the RAF.
He will only spend another 6 or less with us this year ,he will miss out so much on lily .

I have seen the jumperoo they are great ,hope you get one .
I bet you are well excited about your trip to Canada ,i bet you will have a great time

Well keep me posted on you and Erica ,hope Erica continues to do well ,take care ,chat soon :)

leahsmom - Thursday, 29 May
I know what you mean. I wish I didn't have to go back to work either. I have 3 more months off with her before I have to go back. I feel fortunate to have that long and to only have to go back half time. I think since my husband will be home with her it will be okay.

I got the results of the blood allergy test today- negative for all of the foods tested. Which either means she is not truly allergic to the foods, just intolerant or that she just got false negatives. I have not talked to the doctor yet about how they want me to proceed at this point. It all just seems like such a mystery sometimes.

katanddan - Monday, 26 May
Hi nice to hear from you ,how is Erica coming along ,what is she up to ?
Lily doing fine, she has just started using the door bouncer and loves it .
Just starting giving her bits of solid foods ,some she likes ,some she doesn't.
My hubby is going to be away for most of the rest of the year ,so he will miss out on lily so much .
I still miss being pregnant ,which i find funny .
My cousins wife who had her baby on the 29th feb this year is pregnant again ,so i will be following her pregnancy with great interest .
Do you find that Erica changes daily, they grow so fast ,as they say they dont stay babies for long .
Keep me posted with Erica and yourself .
Take care :)

I just noticed that you were a science teacher. I teach 4th grade. I really miss my students. I have visited them once since I went on leave and they were all so sweet. I am lucky enough to be off until Leah is almost 6 months. Then I am taking a half time leave of absence for next year. The teacher they found to job share with me just had a little boy last weekend. So, now out of 5 fourth grade teachers at my school, 4 of us will have babies next year with mine being the oldest. Are you going back to work?

mtnwoman - Friday, 23 May
I would love to take Riley, but the weather here is still a bit chilly and I don't really know of a good public pool to go to here, since I've only lived here a year. I think I will just wait till it gets a bit warmer and have our own little kiddie pool in our back yard this summer.

leahsmom - Thursday, 22 May
Leah had her 2 month checkup yesterday. The doctor ordered a blood draw for a RAST test. I guess they test the blood for reactions to the top 8 allergenic foods. For babies under a year, a positive result is accurate for diagnosing the allergy but a negative could be a false negative. I am curious to see how it turns out. It could take a few days to get the results. She weighs 13lb 2oz- still in the 95th percentile. So, at least, she is not having problems with weight gain!

mtnwoman - Thursday, 22 May
Hey there. Had a couple questions about swimming. Do you take her to a pool? What kind of chemicals (if any) are in the water? Is there a temp the water must be at? Are you indoors or outdoors? I know! So many questions! lol

hawaiimommy - Monday, 19 May
LOL definitely. i just don't have patience for anyone other than braeden sometimes! ;)

leahsmom - Saturday, 17 May
What will the osteopath do? Leah has a checkup with her regular doctor next week, who has been on vacation since the allergy thing started. So, we'll see what she has to say. It has only been 5 days but I have noticed a difference in the amount of spitting up and her excema has cleared quite a bit too.

hawaiimommy - Friday, 16 May
LOL yeah he did! she's usually not that bad. i just get a bit irritated when she drops by whenever and lets herself in. but my hubby has talked to her about it and she doesn't do it anymore. lol. we used to live w/ her so she's kinda like a second mom. of course there are times when i get irritated w/ my own mom so its no big deal. she could be worse ;) lol

mamasuzy - Friday, 16 May
one tip i have for u if u know u are going to be eating out, buy you're own dressing and have it with u...itll make the plain salad much more interesting :)

leahsmom - Thursday, 15 May
I just read you post in the allergy forum. I have just been put on a dairy and soy free diet since my 7 week old is having all the typical allergy symptoms. I suspect a problem a couple of weeks ago and was dairy free for 10 days without seeing a big change. I had a latte Sunday and the next day she was passing tons of mucus and bits of blood in her poops. I felt sooo bad, but at least now we know for sure she is allergic to dairy and the doc suspects soy too. My last baby had a dairy and soy intolerance as a result of a viral illness, so I was dairy/soy free for several weeks while he recovered. I was able to successfully introduce dairy and soy back by 6 months with no problems for him. I am in the process of becoming more educated about it all now since I think I am in it for the long haul with Leah. It is amazing how many products have soy in them. I'm glad to still be on maternity leave so I have more time to prepare food because it sure looks like most all convenience foods are out!

mamasuzy - Wednesday, 14 May
and the best part is like u said..the weight loss...i not only lost my pregnancy weight (40 + pounds) but i lost a little more ontop of that!
one of my theories is that kids are having this nowadays because soy is in everyyything like u said...so we are overdosing on it without realizing..who knows :)

mamasuzy - Wednesday, 14 May
well..the diet was pretty frustrating at first, especially because we love to go out to eat with our friends and family. i used to go along and just watch but ive learned im not that strong so our friends have accommodated and we now just go for coffee :) now it has become second nature to me. i do have bouts where i wonder if she is still allerigic, and if i still need to be doing all of this. good thing you are taking calcium, i'm doing the same..caltrate doesnt have the soybean oil in it, not sure if you have that where u are.

hawaiimommy - Wednesday, 14 May
you're lucky! my MIL lives the next street over!!!!!! geez. lol. usually she's fine but that just really pissed me off. we're supposed to go over to her place for dinner tomorrow night so i had to set ground rules w/ my hubby. lol. luckily she's leaving thurs to go visit her sister in law for a while. :-P

mamasuzy - Wednesday, 14 May
hey i saw you're comment on the allergies forum..im on the dairy/soy diet for 5 months now...ive always wondered if soybean oil was allowed since its not a protein..the mspi sight says it is, but my doc says its best to avoid it...it would open the door to a bunch of food as u probably know so i was wondering if u include it in ur diet or not
