Emma and Ella's Birth Story

So on Friday, Feb. 22nd, at 7pm ( I was 35 weeks along) I went to the hospital for my weekly non stress test. Passed the test fine, within 45 min. The nurse came in and told me everything was fine, but that I was having contractions 4-6 minutes apart, and asked if I was feeling them, and I said no, just a few braxton hicks here and there. So she called my doctor to let him know what's going on, and he said to stay and monitor the contractions. So she came back about an hr. later and they were 2-3 minutes apart, and were strong contractions, but thankfully I still couldnt' feel anything!! So around 10pm I was checked to see if I was dilated, and I was still only 1 cm. So they gave me an IV, and the nurse took out my pcerin (sorry I dont' know how to spell it!,) and that was all the excitment for that night! ! It was really weird because during the night, the contractions stopped!! Then in the morning around 9am they started again, AND I still couldn't feel them, I was in no pain at all!!! haha! I thought I was going to be able to go home!
So around 11am my doctor finally came to see me, and checked to see if i was dilated and I went from 1cm to 4cm! He said your not going anywhere today, the girls will be here sometime today no doubt! He scheduled me to go down to X-rays to get an ultrasound to see how the girls were laying (to decide whether it was going to be a c-section or if I can go vaginally) but Emma was still breeched and Ella was transversed! So I called my boyfriend and told him what was going on and to come back to the hospital! Around 1pm they moved me to a suite, and gave me an epidural (not because I was in pain, but to see if my doctor could re-position baby a) Epidural didn't even hurt me! I thought it was funny how my legs went completly numb! So when my doctor finally came back to check me around 4pm, he gave me a quick ultrasound to see how they were laying again, (still in the same position) then externally he tried to position baby a another way, (and that hurt like a bitch!!! ) but she still wouldn't move, so he said get me ready for surgery! Thats when I lost it! I was soo scared, I started crying! By that time, it was my mom, sister, nieces and nephew and my boyfriend with me trying to calm me down. So when they started getting me ready, that's when the epidural kicked in, I was really tired, and drowsy so I didnt' care what the hell was going on! haha.
So Im guessing around 5pm, the wheeled me into the room, and prepped me for surgery. anthesolgist (sorry spelled wrong!) gave me something, that shot through my spine! I couldnt' understand what the guy was saying! He had an accent , so I wasn't sure what he gave me! By the time my boyfriend came in to sit by me, I was so drugged! haha. I just remember him holding my hand, and telling me he loved me! (aww :) Then they started the procedure, and i could feel the pressure and they said that's normal, but then i was really in pain, and I kept telling them I CAN FEEL THAT!! IT HURTS! and I was crying! So the next thing I knew I was knocked out!! They had to give me general anthesia! So I didn't get to see the girls first, or hear them cry or anything :( But thankfully my boyfriend took lots of pix! And he cut the umbilical cords! So at 5:43 pm, Emma Elizabeth was born weighing 4pds 8 oz. and at 5:44pm Ella Grace was born weighing 4pds 12oz. Both 18in long, and identical! Even though they were early, thankfully they were PERFECTLY healthy!

Doctor's Appointments
-March 5, 2008 ~ Emma weighed in at 5pds, and Ella weighed in at 5pds 6 oz! Doctor said they are doing wonderful!!! *Next appt. April 16th.

Oh, thanks! Hope you have a great day and Merry Christmas to you too…

JessH - Monday, 24 Dec
Neither, we bought our double stroller system from another mommy on Craigslist.com -- they were in really good condition and hardly used so thats where we bought those. WE got our furniture from JCpenney Catalog, and bedding from Target. Just shop for a deal you've got time!

TWINGIRLS2008 - Sunday, 23 Dec
WE BOUGHT THE GRACO DUO STROLLER THAT THE INFANT SEATS FIT IN. I HAVE A GOOD FRIEND WHO HAD TWINS AND THAT IS WHAT SHE USED UNTIL THEY WERE AROUND 3 YEARS OLD.
DID YOU KNOW THAT IDENTICALS ARE NOT GENEIC? ONLY FRATERNAL TWINS ARE LINKED TO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS!? I HAVE FRATERNAL TWINS IN MY FAMILY, 13 SET SO WE THINK THEY ARE FRATERNAL BUT WON'T REALLY KNOW UNTIL WE DO THE BLOOD TEST WHEN THEY'RE BORN.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING THEIR ROOM IN? WE DID TINKERBELL AND FAIRIE FRIENDS. ITS BEEN FUN, I AM ALMOST DONE WITH THE BEDDING. AND MY BABY SHOWER IS JANUARY 12TH SO I AM GETTING EXCITED.
WELL CONGRATES ON YOUR TWINS AND KEEP ME UPDATED!
LOVE LINDSEY

Congrats on the girls! Yes, we've already bought the stroller as well. We bought a double stroller travel system. I think its Graco but I cant tell you what model right now (as we're at my parents for the holidays). Thanks for the compliment on the nursery :) Merry Xmas & happy shopping!

TWINGIRLS08 - Sunday, 23 Dec
Yeah, I can sit and watch my babies move all the time, they move constantly… And they say your babies won’t move that much around this point (35.2 weeks), cause they don‘t have that much room to…. PLEASE!

TWINGIRLS08 - Sunday, 23 Dec
I see you posted another comment about double strollers, you we’re wondering if there are any out there that fits two car seats… I thought the information I gave you was helpful, that you might have found one??? Cause most of the double strollers that are on those links I gave you fit 2 car seats…

TWINGIRLS08 - Sunday, 23 Dec
Oh no problem, besides the pressure, hard to turn over in the bed, and going to the bathroom like every 20 minutes…. I feel GREAT! Have not dilated any, no BH, and so far the steroid shots or bed rest has not been mentioned. How about you? Happy Holidays to you too…

doublethejoy2lilboys - Sunday, 23 Dec
Oh I LOVE the names!! Have you thought about middle names yet? One of my best friends just had her baby...and I got to hold him...I can't wait to hold my own already!!

amberd521 - Thursday, 20 Dec
Hey! So I seen ur comment on the home page and I am having two little boys. Ive figured out that the best place to look at double strollers is on Walmart.com. They have all kinds on there for the cheapest that you can find. Oh and I think Burlington Coat Factory is one of the best for carseats. Lord knows, since its double of everything, it hard to get the high priced stuff.

Sarah from MN - Wednesday, 19 Dec
Thank you! We are in Love with her! Good Luck on your pregnancy! XOXO Sarah

Fire-Fox - Wednesday, 19 Dec
I'm just replying back to the message you left. I had to stay in the hospital for so long because I needed multiple blood transfusions. The doctor nicked an artery during my emergency c-section surgery.

doublethejoy2lilboys - Wednesday, 19 Dec
i got swabbed today for fetal fibernectin (how ever u spell it). the results were negetive! so that means i more than likely won't go into labor for another 2 weeks! yay! cause that would just be crazy! and my cervix length is a 4.3...so everything seems to be good. i go for my gestational diabetes test tomorrow morning. wish me luck!

waitingpatiently - Wednesday, 19 Dec
yes she was very rude today and i thought about switching doctors.

but i dont kno who else to go to around here and i dont know who my insurance will cover??

i only know of 2 other docctors and one is a REALLY old lady that is probably about to or SHOULD be about to retire lol and the other is a male doctor that my mom had for a while and said she didnt like him AT ALL and hes weird...so ill have to do a little more research. im asking around right now to everyone i know who is or was recently pregnant who they went to. hopefully i get somewhere. only thing i like about the doctor i go to is shes the only one with a 4D ultrasound around here

choppork5426 - Tuesday, 18 Dec
so how fun is this going to be twin girls that is going to be fun and a handful in a couple years..u figure out there name yet?

TWINGIRLS08 - Tuesday, 18 Dec
Hello, Congrats on your twin girls!!! I am also having twin girls, they say… they don’t think their identical, but it could be a possibility that they are… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Not that it makes me any difference though, as long as their healthy. I am just ecstatic to be having twins period. About the double strollers and car seats… I looked in Babies R Us… and they have some decent double strollers with car seats to match, more varieties online than in the stores though. Online I did see a double stroller that comes with a car seat, but the price was no different from buying it all separate, which you have to do with most double strollers and car seats anyways. The Babies R Us where I live they have a twin thing going, where if you buy double of anything over $50.00 you get 10% - 15% off, not much but it helps… GOOD LUCK!!!

doublethejoy2lilboys - Sunday, 16 Dec

I am so happy for you!!! Yay, girls! :0) Oh the spoiling you can do! :0) They make the cutest girl clothes. That's neat that they are identical too. I thought surely since mine were fraternal I'd have a boy and a girl, oh well, lol! I'm glad they are healthy! That's the important part. What are you gonna do the nursery in?? I finally finished the boys. I feel releaved now that I have the beds. I just need to wash everything with Dreft, lol. That part can wait. Did they tell you how much they weigh? My sonographer hardly ever tells me, it's frustrating...lol...well anyway congrats again!!! YAY!!

charlim - Sunday, 16 Dec
