Hello mama's! My name is Shereen, and my boyfriend and I are expecting our first child. Her name will be Kalyn James and we are so excited to meet her! I'm currently living in Miami while daddy is in Belgium playing professional basketball. This pregancy happened immediately after we planned it. It's been 10 years since we met in high school and we've only been together for a year. This has been such a romantic and joyous time for me. And as our little girl's birthday draws near, the more excited I am for the future of our new family! :)
So I wake up around 7am to take my morning tinkle and when I get back into bed, I feel a gush of liquid come out in between my legs! I run back to the bathroom to check whats going on down there and I find a little brown/red discharge. I`m thinking that this can not be happenning! Not right now! Josiah just purchased a plane ticket so he wouldn`t miss this! So after I snap out of it...I waddle to my moms room and tell her what`s happening. All she said was `it`s time` and I`m telling her nooooo! lol
We took forever to get ready cause my brain was scrambled and my mom was calling everybody in her phonebook. I got ready before she did.
We arrived at the hospital close to 9am. Seemed like I was the first person to sign in for that day. Everything seemed to be running smooth. I started feeling some cramps but they weren`t major. I was laughing and smiling and feeling waaaay too excited. I called the list of people that I wanted to be in the room with me, which was a bad idea. About an hour after I got my room I had about ten other people in there with me. At first it didn`t matter but as the contractions got worse and started coming every minute...every last one of them started to get on my damn nerves! But surprisingly I maintained my cool and kept my focus on the nurse who kept telling me to breathe out the pain.
Around 3 to 4pm the pain went from a 5 to a 10. I wanted an epidural free labor but I couldn`t stand the pains anymore. I tried walking around and sitting on a ball for comfort but the contractions were coming way too quick and way too strong. So I requested for an epidural. I was having contractions while getting the epidural and all of my strength just went downhill cause I just started crying uncontrollably...lol I was 4 to 5 centimeters dilated by then. around 6 pm I was at 10 centimeters! Although I couldn`t feel anything from the waist down, I was told to push. And the nurse rolled out a mirror so that I could see what was happening. I saw some hair at first. But when I was pushing for the third time...everyone saw a nose and a mouth instead of the hair that we saw about a minute ago. The nurse said that this was a bad sign because the baby should be facing down and not up.
The Dr is called in and he tries to see if he can fix this. But as he`s trying to fix this...part of the umbilical cord comes out and he orders his staff to get ready for the OR. At this point I`m dissapointed and scared. Cause a cesarean was the last thing that I wanted. They roll me and the Dr down to the OR room. The DR was on the bed with me because he didn`t want to remove his arm from out of me since the cord fell out. Everything happened so fast! I was crying through it all. Everyone was moving quickly and saying a whole bunch of things that I couldn`t understand. The only time I felt relieved was when I heard my baby crying. That`s when I relaxed. And when they finally brought her over to me all wrapped and bundled up, I felt so much better.
Congrats!! She's adorable
