I found out that I was indeed pregnant on Saturday, February 23. I'm 43, never married and no children. I've waited for the day when I could truly say, "There is a baby in my belly!" Although my boyfriend and I were talking about engagement, we are now talking about doctors and payment plans and all that! What a turn of events!

I am deeply in love with him, and he is so caring and kind. I couldn't ask for a better father.

Sometimes I get all hung up on the future, but when I can find my quiet still place, I know that this is right, and I feel the bond already with my little 1/4 inch meep! Today I read that the heart is the size of a poppy seed - I don't know why that makes me cry and fall more in love with this baby, but it does.

My little poppy seed...

Spring is here, and I am happier than I ever thought I could be. I have a wonderful man, and a little baby still with us! Waiting for our first ultrasound ( on March 29 ) seems like an eternity. I just want to hear/see that little heart beating and verify that I am on track as far as my due date. We are starting to let more people know that we are pregnant, and I am starting to have some real signs of pregnancy - such as nausea & dizziness 24/7. I feel lucky to have all of the 'symptoms' of pregnancy. No, not lucky - blessed. I can't wait to meet this little one that has put our life upside down!

Madame Zaritska's Prediction:

The day you deliver, outside will be overcast. Your baby will arrive in the morning. After a labor lasting approximately 20 hours, your child, a girl, will be born. Your baby will weigh about 6 pounds, 13 ounces, and will be 20-1/2 inches long. This child will have blue eyes and some very fine hair.

How`s my pregnancy doing?

I agree with mamabare! No one should yell at you. I was a registered nurse for 5 years in the ER, and that's just not how you deal with a patient (especially a super-emotional pregnant one!). If you're dehydrated and not making enough urine, they should really work with you to make it better. If they don't like your weight gain, they should talk calmly and PROFESSIONALLY about it. If they want to yell at you and acuse you, they should kiss your ass.

mamabare30 - Thursday, 26 June
i would tell them to f-off and find another midwife/ob... i would NOT stand for that kind of behaviour from ANYone!! even if they are concerned for your health and the health of the baby - no one has the right to be reprimanded like that. be strong girl, go kick some ass! :)

I hope thing get easier I know your pain though I started this pregnancy at 150 lost 11 pounds and now I am over 170 my doctor is going to kill me when I go back to see him. I workout swim eat right but I still keep gaining. Although with my first 10 years ago I was 120 when I got pregnant and was 210 when I had him so I was huge. Same with my second I started with her around 150 and ended 210 with her to. Good luck to you and Congrats!! And know you are not alone!!!

tracie85 - Thursday, 26 June
really sorry your doctor is giving you a hard time, thats totally out of order, and my thoughts are with you, do they not know that pregnant women have a lot of hormones and are very emotional??? so of course your going to cry when they behave like this towards you. i think any pregnant lady would!

MALACHIsMOM - Thursday, 26 June
I am so sorry that your docter is that way. They should be there to support you and be kind and considerate while straining the significance of their concerns. You are pregnant and they were bashing you, of course you cried duh! You may want to look for someone else becuase I can only assume that it will get worse you will put on the most weight at the end. Good luck and don't let them ruin the experience for you.

I can honestly say I completely understand, as happy as I am to go to my appointments and make sure everything is still ok I am also always a little nervous because I've walked out and burst into tears a couple of times out of frustration. I've gotten yelled at for gaining too much weight (I've gained about the same as you so far) and other things too that were beyond my control and I guess because it has to do with my baby I take it very personally. Anyways, good luck at your appointment, I hope it's stress free for you.

kristin08 - Tuesday, 24 June
Its not a stupid fear. I understand. I have those same fears. I actually keep thinking that one day i'll find out the baby is really a boy and they made a mistake. Thats why i don't want to go crazy on the shopping. I haven't been as worried about her lately though. Shes really been kicking me pretty hard and everytime i feel her i feel better knowing shes ok.

kristin08 - Monday, 23 June
Awww congrats on ur little girl too. We have great little shopping partners coming our way huh? Have u thought of any names yet? I keep thinking its too early to think of names now but time is really flying. In a couple days i'll be 22 weeks. Its insane. So i'm starting to think its never too early to start planning.

We can worry about weight loss later! It's not like were bikini shopping right now! Sounds like you have a great boyfriend. It's wonderful when you find one that is sensitive to how you feel.

Yes, its the glucose testing- wheeee- thanks for the reminder to bring reading material. Good idea.
Sciatica is the worst I have heard...aww...(hugs).
Have you tried yoga? That is helpful as well as doing chiro.
A girl in my one class has sciatica bad like you and she said it helps her.
Yes, HB is drugfree and hopefully, painfree!

i get a 1X from motherhood and have been ok with them. i did order a pair of Black capris 1X and they were really small, but that was the only item that I found to be really small. Other then that I find they are pretty good. Old Navy I usually get an XXl. Sometimes if you go to the O.N stores they will have some maternity cloths there if people have ordered them online and returned them to a store I actually got a pair of black pants for $1.99 and a pair of shorts for $9.99,

cababy - Friday, 20 June
I think so. I am about 16-18pre preg. And I wear some XL and XXL from old navy. I notice the XXL are a little big on me so I think that is how it gose. Most places XL is 16-18 So I would think XXL would be 20-22 . I find OLD NAVY to run a little bigger then some. That's where I got most of my maternity clothes from. I even found some cute bathing suits.

springtime - Friday, 20 June
I weigh around the same and am 40, so no worries, Motherhood Maternity has plus sizes and while the pants and shorts are around 25-40 dollars, the t-shirts and tanks are around 10. I loved it there. they are also online. I started showing right away but this is my 3rd. good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

babyfever - Friday, 20 June
Good luck to you! I really hope you get some relief. I feel your pain. I had my U/S today and we finally found out that it's a girl! Yeah! On the downside I got a "talking to" about my 17# weight gain. Oh well, thought I ws doing so well. :(

jaydsmom - Friday, 20 June
Read your post about this being your last time pregnant lol!! I said that too. It took me a very long time to get over my first pregnancy. It sucked soooo bad. Here I am though, baby #2. Oh and I had a pinched sciatic nerve with my daughter. I went to a chiro that specialized in pregnant women. It help a lot. This pregnancy is much easier :)

rubberduck36 - Friday, 20 June

THERE MATERNITY STUFF IS AWFUL BUT THEY HAVE SOME CUST PLUS SIZE STUFF LIKE IN 3X OR 4X... I FOUND A COUPLE OF PLUS SIZE SHIRTS AT TARGET ON CLEARANCE... OH AND BY THE WAY WE STARTED BEING ABLE TO FELL THE BABY MOVE ON THE OUTSIDE ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF AGO ... I CARRY ALL MY WEIGHT IN THE MIDDLE AND MY GIRLS HAVE SEEN MY BELLY MOVE AND HAVE FELT HER KICK.. GOOD LUCK

mamabare30 - Thursday, 19 June
Believe me I know the pain you're in - I used Chiropractic care (Activator method), Massage therapy, Acupuncture, Rehab... the best is Chiro to ensure alignment is sustained and Massage therapy to ease the musles around the joints... then ice packs to keep inflamation down... once it gets under control, excercise is key. Also you can invest in a TENS unit for those bad days - it's a miracle worker! good luck ;)

lyndsay2619 - Thursday, 19 June
I also read your post and wanted to suggest Old Navy Maternity as well. Their clothes are wonderful, priced right and big. I too started as a size 18, and I am currently 13 weeks. I have a few items from them already. Also, you could try Fashion Bug if you have them available to you. Their plus sizes go up to the high 20's and I think possibly into 30...Again, their clothes are priced right, look great, and will work for at least a while. One of my co-workers said as I get further along, I won't be able to wear them, because of they way they are made (not for maternity, but just for plus sized)...but for now it's working great for me! Good luck!
